howās the drama so far? lot wise and the romance aspect? as I know there will be two other couples. and the…
So far itās very slow and atmospheric. Plot isnāt moving fast ā itās more about emotions and slowly uncovering the past. The vibe feels cozy but melancholic, with a lot of hidden angst underneath. Romance is soft and subtle right now. More quiet tension and emotional connection than intense passion. The side couples seem lighter and might balance out the heaviness later.
And the BIG secret (spoiler) ā ML and FL were never past lovers. Because of an accidental laptop switch in Boston, they ended up talking and forming a deep connection without properly knowing who the other was. She thought she was messaging her boyfriend, but ML was the one replying. At his lowest point, when he was about to end his life, her constant messages unknowingly kept him from jumping.
Then the lab explosion happens. Her boyfriend dies, ML survives with hearing loss and memory loss. After that, he remembers her face and her confession clearly, and later some fragments come back ā including the realization that she was never his, but someone elseās. Thatās why their present connection feels so heavy and complicated.
I really liked the introverted, quiet, brooding, hoodie always on, gloomy mysterious guy vibe of the ML from past. Would hav been really awesome if ML stayed the same personality. Bummer. Current him is cute too. Loved the vibe and aesthetic of the whole drama. Feels like a cozy rainy evening with coffee. But don't be fooled. Just like ML's smile, it's hiding some pretty dark things. I'm so ready for the angst, the pain and the painting this drama will create like a radiant season.
yāall acting like i just woke up and decided to hate when this convo has literally been happening everywhere,…
i hope so too honestly. she seems genuinely warm and hardworking, so itād be great to see her keep improving and really grow into her acting with time.

i appreciate you explaining your view, genuinely. and i do get what youāre saying about popularity amplifying things.
but i donāt think this is just coming from people who only saw trailers. even after full episodes of Snowdrop and now Newtopia, similar critiques about delivery, immersion and emotional range have come up across different platforms, not just korean forums. so it doesnāt really feel like a korean-only standard or early judgement.
about the Our Universe actress you mentioned, she actually gets criticized too, but people tend to be more forgiving with her because she built her filmography more gradually. viewers have been able to see her growth over time, so even when sheās not perfect, thereās a sense of progression. with Jisoo, she stepped straight into major lead roles with a relatively small acting portfolio, so expectations were already very high from the start. when someone begins at that level, people naturally judge the performance at that same level.
so for me itās less about a double standard and more about expectations matching opportunity. when the roles are big from the beginning, the scrutiny will be big too. popularity just makes that conversation louder, not necessarily unfair.
Also I'm really getting pissed off that she lands all these main roles when her acting talent imo is non-existent.…
checking my mdl watchlist doesnāt prove i didnāt watch anything š if i donāt rate or finish something it usually means i tried and dropped it because i couldnāt get through it. thatās what happened here.
also this isnāt about āhating idol actors.ā plenty of idols like iu, yoona, im siwan, park hyungsik, junho and sejeong built their acting credibility gradually through smaller roles, training, theatre or careful role choices and you can see their improvement over time.
thatās why people question when someone goes straight into high-profile lead roles without that same visible buildup. popularity absolutely plays a part in casting, so when the skill progression doesnāt match the scale of roles yet, people are obviously going to talk about it.
you can think sheās decent, thatās fine. but assuming anyone who critiques her is just biased or hasnāt watched anything isnāt really fair either.
Am I the only one who didn't feel any 'Acting' presence from Jisoo in the trailer especially her eyes.
yāall acting like i just woke up and decided to hate when this convo has literally been happening everywhere, especially on the korean side since her debut š
there are actual korean articles calling it an āacting controversyā and saying her acting hasnāt improved since snowdrop. when the newtopia trailer dropped, korean comments were already criticizing her pronunciation, tone and facial expressions again. itās the same feedback sheās been getting for years now, so this isnāt some random new take.
a lot of knetz keep bringing up her awkward enunciation and that metallic/nasal tone that kinda breaks immersion in emotional scenes. some even said they couldnāt tell if she was supposed to be crying or laughing in certain parts. and people have been questioning why she keeps getting straight lead roles without building up through smaller roles first like most actors do.
there was even a viral korean video titled āģ§ģ ė°ģ°źø°.ā if you donāt know, āė°ģ°źø°ā literally means āfoot acting,ā which is slang for bad acting. that video blew up for a reason before it got taken down and reuploaded. that term didnāt trend because of one ābiasedā international viewer, it circulated because enough people were already discussing her acting.
so no, this isnāt just me being negative or biased. this discussion has been happening across korean forums, articles and viewers for a while now. if you really think iām alone in this, just search ģ§ģ ė°ģ°źø° yourself and youāll see how widespread the criticism actually is.

Also I'm really getting pissed off that she lands all these main roles when her acting talent imo is non-existent. It's like she's capable of making only one expression and there's no emotional depth in her acting at all. Most importantly her pronounciation is utterly abysmal. Even with all these, she's like a nepo baby who's getting handed out roles just coz she's part of bigname grp BLACKPINK, when there are more talented and deserving actors out there.
