Their miscommunication is indeed the biggest problem.
One, they don't talk between themselves. HW is someone who considers everyone before he does something and actually did good job in reaching out to YE. But YE rarely reaches out to him and gets upset over little things which could have been easily avoided. Honestly they both are people to rarely give in to others and admit stuff. I think everyone has insecurities. YE does but so does HW. YE expects HW to come and talk to her to resolve all the problem. But that's not fair either. That's where XY makes difference. She's ready to be the ear when HW wants to talk. Yes, if YE tries to communicate more or if HW actually opens up to YE more deeply it would change their situation.
Nobody is locked up or bound and if they want to actually talk, they can find an opportunity to do that. All other couples can and they can also.
Two, they don't communicate properly with those pursuing them as well. If they were uncomfortable with the other persons approach, they can actually tell them off may be not bluntly but at least get the other person understand whether they want to stop it or go further. I haven't seen YE refusing HW or HW refusing XY. HW in fact told XY it wasn't too late after they cleared up the misunderstanding.

Xilun okay I can understand about him coming in between Yue'er and Hewen but Xiaoyu? No. The first time she interacted with HW and literally the only time she separated the both was the day when she came. It's not like she exactly knows who and who getting along. Even then she felt she shouldn't call the same person and expressed her worry to HW about this later in the episodes. The second time she went after him was to clear her misunderstandings and mind you then Yue'er was already talking with Xilun alone at that time. Hewen was with Yihang. I think it's very fair that she wanted to clear the misunderstanding with Hewen as he is one of her love interests in the show. Once the misunderstanding went away, she went foreword with getting to know him. The next time they were interacting was when they just did what they told on the first day they met. The durain talk. You say as if she's hovering around him all the time but she is not. And it was not just her who brought the durian if you see. Hewen also brought it.
Then your comment about the kitchen thingy. I'm gonna talk based on the last episode. The day Yue'er made Kungpao chicken, Xilun was already there with her when Hewen came with Xiaoyu. Xilun mostly meddles in between like the school stimulation event when he sat with Hewen but dude was actually here first. Even before Hewen came down. Then it was show down between XL and HW on helping YE. It was when the situation was getting awkward did XY ask whether she should make a dish? It was then she actually got involved in the kitchen dispute. I agree she was standing there with HW when all this happened. But they literally came down to kitchen together so I'm not surprised. She asked for help yes. HW did come as well but he was still helping YE. So I wouldn't say it made any difference.
On the next day during cooking, it was actually YE who came there last.
Now coming onto the school episode, YE went first towards HW when he stood there (first time I saw her actually doing something actively honestly to contribute to their relationship other than messaging him) but at the end didn't she still gave in the chance to talk first XY because she wasn't decisive enough? Also you didn't see her coming to sit with HW neither standing with him then. So your hovering over them comment is entirely invalid when it comes to XY. Now coming onto what she addressed to HW while standing there actually didn't feel anything special at least not something you would say to someone really special other than friends. XY spoke aloud because she was given the chance to and she actually did good there. The second she got to speak was actually given MM and she didn't give the chance to express yourself to HW.

At least read properly/fully before calling others out. They aren't spamming and as far as I can see no one has posted about pre broadcast investment before them. Adding a single line about rumoured date along with it can be hardly regarded spamming.
