On The Journey of Chong Zi Mar 15, 2023
The ending got an eye roll from me. Rushed too. What a flop... A watchable flop admittedly, but too bad to be good and not bad enough to be hilariously bad either.
Pros
1) Yang Chaoyue's Zi Mo costume and hair piece were stunning. Love the purple.
2) Beautiful OST songs (added to my collection!)
3) The portrayal of magic was quite special in the first episode, but seemed to change later on.
I'm done. Now...
Cons
1) The story itself
So... repetitive... So... illogical.
2) The characters as envisioned by the creators and performers
The characters are shallow, immature and often illogical. There is no depth, no soul, just superficial nonsense. The real magic in xianxias is the personal growth, the depth of feeling and complexity of circumstances. This drama has none of that.
3) The script
Boring as hell.
4) The pacing of the story
Very slow, arcs repeat the same story line over and over. Rushed ending. Seems to be a common theme with dramas recently... Bad pacing.
5) Most of the villains don't get what they deserve, they just continue to be awful people in their roles with zero consequences.
6) The childish acting of most of the cast, but especially Yang Chaoyue whose performance in the first arc seems inspired by a 4-6 year old. Far more tolerable as a demon. 2ML's childish performance equally dreadful. There's no depth to any of the characters at all. Tragic.
7) The reverse harem that has no purpose other than to fawn on the FL. The 2ML could have not been in the drama he wouldn't be missed.

What is it with all the shallow, badly executed xianxias this year? What's going on? I need a new favourite to rival 10 Miles of Peach Blossom, Love & Destiny, Ancient Love Poetry and the like! 😭

Im a sucker for The Journey of Flower and I see so many similarities. So many filler scenes and they talk so much.…
The Journey of Flower was better than this drama.

How was it? Much romance? Any love triangles? Happy ending?
Truly dreadful, all round. So repetitive, very little growth.

Jeremy tsui has proven his worth as an actor but i really notice he seems unlucky in picking his dramas. He is…
Agree. His projects are often flops, but not because of his contributions but everyone else.

FYI Regarding the brother's rescue. The building was stormed by police who obviously rescued him. This isn't a…
But the brother is not the main character, it would drag if the story continued to focus further on a subplot. He was rescued when the police stormed and then Kokdu and Han Cheol form a team to take down the perpetrators. Han Cheol finds the assassin, Kokdu beats him up so he can be arrested, then he is identified as the perp in the police station by Han Gye Jeol.

As for the God's punishment theme, I am of the opinion that there are no plot holes until a drama has finished airing, because how do you know it's not a theme that will be continued and become a twist at the end? I suspect Kokdu has not understood the intention of the Creator yet. I think a lot of questions will be answered in the coming episodes. Shame you'll be missing out, but if you're not enjoying it, move on. :-)

Title Kokdu: Season of Deity Spoiler
This drama deserves higher rating i promise you. The only problem is, there are some plot holes that viewers notice…
I think it would have been a repetitive theme if it had become a daily occurrence. Also, they showed him a few times calling her at 9.09, it would have been overkill to keep doing it imo.

find it really hard to root for han chul/jung won after how she treated gye jeol in the past. he deserves better…
Agree. I find this pairing illogical so I tend to skip their scenes

Ahh, I'm tired of FL's acting!😫It's really a pain to see her struggle to put on an act like that.πŸ˜‘She's…
I don't get why this actress gets FL roles despite not being that good. She was absolutely rubbish in Woori the Virgin too. In fact, I expected her performance to be much worse so I'm pleasantly surprised that it's not as dire as I expected. Not great obviously, but not that bad. A bit random and inconsistent and those ridiculous cute baby acts.

It has lot of good moments, but also has lot of hole to drive a bus through. Why ML is being punished when he was…
FYI Regarding the brother's rescue. The building was stormed by police who obviously rescued him. This isn't
a plot hole, it's just edited to shorten the scene. Also, he wasn't close enough to the blast, he was at a distance tied up. There was a scene showing him tied up and witnessing the blast and his sister and Kokdu disappearing.

Are there any more of these plot holes you're referring to?

Can someone explain to me why this drama is rated below 8? and also I read some comments there are those who like…
A combination of strong difference in taste and potential sabotage.

Imo it is nowhere near a 7.5 drama. Dramas rated 7.5 I would usually find unwatchable so, the score is off. Imo it's closer to an 8.3 to 8.5.

KJH carries this drama with his amazing acting and comedy skills. If you have seen and loved him before in Mr. Queen or Welcome to Waikiki, you will enjoy this drama. I have laughed so much at his portrayal of Kokdu.

It's a bit of a Goblin copycat and the FL's acting is weak and inconsistent, however KJH's performance makes up for hers and he is so dynamic that they have good chemistry when together. But she is the weakest link... Just be aware of that before you start. I tolerate her lol.

I wouldn't have said anything that I didn't have personal experience of... I've spoken to someone on here who admitted they had many fake accounts in order to manipulate the score. I've also seen comments here encouraging fans to go and make fake accounts to push the score up or down.

Yup, it's a whole thing.

They're not acting like they're in a fairy tale. It IS a fairy tale. What plot holes have you noticed? Please share.
