Now that the series has ended, I have to say that the second half was another wild ride (in the best possible way). It was a ton of fun, and I’m really glad my worries about how the story between Shin and Hong would play out were unfounded.

Seriously, there were so many little surprising moments that really entertained me. Honestly, I’d love to see a second season with almost the same cast. I especially loved the girls’ shared apartment. They were all just wonderful! Hong’s boss, of course, because Kim Won Hae is one of my favorite actors. I have a blast watching him act every single time. I also really, really enjoy watching Park Shin Hye, and I have to say, I got the impression that she had a lot of fun with her role. It felt so free. I think that’s why it was good that the focus wasn’t on romance. At the same time, that was the only slight downside for me, because I would have liked to see Hong and Albert’s story end with a romantic happy ending.

If there isn’t a second season, I’d love to see Park Shin Hye and Cho Han Gyeol paired up again in a romance.

Conclusion: Likeable cast, good, complex storyline, clever writing, plenty of laughs, and the occasional plot twist. I give it a 9.5/10.

Now that I'm about halfway through the series, I have to say it's made a good impression so far. It’s funny, but at the same time it’s pretty suspenseful (let’s see if my hunch about the whistleblower turns out to be right), and I also like the nostalgic touch of setting it in the 1990s. The only thing I’m not really feeling is the connection between Hong and Shin. I assume this romance is supposed to reignite. I’d find a romance between Hong and Albert more exciting and better. That really caught my attention, and I feel chemistry and warmth between them. The character Shin just leaves me cold. So far, I find him emotionless and, of all the characters, actually the most boring. I absolutely love the group of girls living together. The little one is sweet as candy, and the four women, who all have their own burdens to bear but support and strengthen each other, are really great.
On to the second half...

Episode 5:Another stellar effort.Eps 1-5 have built and built and built on each other with near-perfection.The…
You’ve described it absolutely beautifully. I feel exactly the same way. I started watching it without a clue and with no expectations, and with every episode it draws me in even deeper.

“This couple is so damn cute, but also sexy and emotionally moving.
I teared up three times this episode, with multiple moments of goosebumps in between the crying.
What a lovely surprise." – I couldn’t have described better what this episode did to my head and heart. My eyes were filled with tears. My whole body was tingling and covered in goosebumps. My heart was torn between joy, pain, longing and desire. All because the two of them triggered so many emotions in me.

And honestly, it was only through the comments that I realised the younger Ryo was played by a different actor. Really, the casting team did a brilliant job.
The scriptwriters too, because I’ve no idea what’s going to happen in the second half; even the dude with the distinctive hairstyle could go in any direction...

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts. I felt so much that I couldn’t put it into words, but when I read your comment I nodded and thought: Yes, exactly, that’s spot on.

Man, this series is really turning out to be a hidden gem. After the last episode, which was more of a quiet interlude, this one was just wonderfully emotional. That sort of sensual intimacy is so rare in JBLs. It’s wonderful. That’s exactly how I’d like it to be...

Otherwise, I see that on MDL, the usual MDL stuff is happening again, where the rating drops by 0.3 points surprisingly suddenly when a BL crosses the 8.x mark (and isn’t from a specific production company) ...

If anyone is wondering whether it’s worth it: definitely. A silly idea, two wonderful actors, great chemistry, an unusually fast narrative pace and a lot of emotion. It’s a treat for the heart and the funny bone! As is usual on MDL, you should add 0.5 points to the rating for JBL. The only downside is that there’s only one episode a week :)

Waiting for next week's episode...

You shouldn't take MDL ratings for BLs too seriously for a variety of reasons. Anything between 7.0 and the highest…
Hey, I don't know if this show is already on your list, but I'd really like to recommend it to you...

Only three episodes are out so far, but it's really fun to watch... The actors work great together, the storytelling has been interesting so far, and the predictable takes unexpected turns.

To be honest, after watching that episode and seeing how the series is structured, my expectations have gone up. So much so that I think they could pull off even a cliché plot twist. However, I don't think (and I hope not) that there really is a plot twist like that. 🤞 I hope they can keep up the momentum...

Whoever cast these two leads really did a great job. They’re fantastic together... Plus, there’s the show’s surprising dynamic, which, in my opinion, doesn’t follow the usual JBL pace, making even the predictable parts exciting... I’m looking forward to the next episodes, because I expect more unpredictability and surprises. It feels like I’m right in the middle of Episode 8. Haha, I’m hooked. The series is a lot of fun :)

I mean, the backstory was obvious to me right from episode 1. But I never would have guessed the series would pick up this much speed... But since it’s full of surprises, I think we’ll get the next plot twist pretty soon...

Thanks for your recommendations! I actually watched MSP and thought it was really cute. That was one reason why I was disappointed with TLMU. However, I watched the series before I signed up for MDL or added shows to my list...

“Every You, Every Me” is going on my list—it looks promising, and I really like the actor, too.

I was still on the fence about watching “Me and Thee” because GMMTV has often disappointed me lately. But since I found THK entertaining and you’re recommending it, I’ll add it to my list too :)

Yes, I can recommend Depth of Field to you, if only for the scenery. It’s gorgeous. It could have been one episode longer, but all in all, I thought it was great. If you’ve already seen “Contrast,” it might seem similar to you—at least that’s how I felt when I watched “Contrast” recently.

You’ve already seen “Our Youth,” which is one of my absolute favorite series.
I also really love “The Only One,” though it’s not finished and there won’t be a second season. So I can only recommend it if you don’t mind having your heart broken and ending up disappointed... (There are some parts with a little happy ending, though.)

Since I see you watch a lot of GMMTV series—and maybe I missed it—you should check out “A Tale of a Thousand Stars”; it's a great show. And for me, it's probably one of the best Thai BL series out there: “I've Told the Sunset About You.”

Yeah, sorry for all the unsolicited recommendations I’ve given you :D I’ll add you so I can give you some feedback later :)

Thanks!

Oh, thanks for the recommendation :) You're right, I haven't seen Season 2 yet. But I’m often skeptical about second seasons at first. So I really appreciate your take on it! And yes, 25 Ji, Akasaka de is also on my list of “JBLs with better kisses”—I even thought the kiss in “Depth of Field” was good. Like I said, they keep getting better, and I’m happy to overlook that shortcoming since I really appreciate the range of JBLs... If you have any other “must-have” recommendations (even outside of JBLs), I’m always happy to new suggestions, especially since I’ve been a bit out of the loop these past few months :)

I was looking for some good BLs for the first time in a while and stumbled across this. What can I say? I’m really enjoying it, even if the plot is predictable. But I was thoroughly entertained by the first two episodes, and even the intimate scenes are better than what you usually see in average JBLs.

The only mistake I made was starting the series now and having to wait for new episodes. And the series is perfect for binge-watching... Oh well, I’ll just have to stick it out and pass the time with other JBLs. So if anyone has any recommendations (even outside of JBLs), bring them on :) But the first two episodes are definitely promising...

Episode 5:This gets more boring with every episode. There is no energy in the story or characters.Shizuka is passive-aggressive…
I have to agree with you... It really is very slow, even though I’m not bored yet. But I think that’s also because I watched all 5 episodes in a row. Waiting for it every week will be tough if the plot doesn’t move forward...
All the family drama (except maybe the story about the father) hasn’t really added anything to the main plot for me so far...
Actually, I was looking forward to seeing some older characters... Well, let's see how it develops.

I'm just wondering ...WHY is the rating so low here on MDL???Undeservedly... because this series has something…
You shouldn't take MDL ratings for BLs too seriously for a variety of reasons. Anything between 7.0 and the highest rating is very enjoyable in JBLs...
Generally speaking, when it comes to BLs, I easily add 0.5 points to JBLs, which makes the rating fit the overall picture for me. (Whereas I personally always subtract 0.5 points from Thai BLs to “adjust” the rating for myself)

There are many reasons why JBLs aren’t rated as highly. Overall, in terms of story, they’re the best, most creative, and most varied BLs for me. The only drawback is the kissing scenes. But even there, there’s already been progress...
Perhaps in this case, it’s also aimed at a more “adult” audience. I have to say, there are some really good JBLs on the market right now. So just enjoy them and let the rating be what it is...

You saw the bulkier guy in season 1 as a "loser coward soft top?" What does that mean?
No problem, it just confused me a little. :) I haven't been active for a while, and when I saw your comment, I thought I'd check in with you again… Especially since this whole ML thing has confused me too…
And since I haven't been active on MDL for a while, I have to say that I've missed your comments and our discussions :D

Amusing that you’ve grouped him with rainbow and butterfly: ephemeral; KSH certainly done, is history.
Aggressive response? If that’s how you read it, it’s all in your head. Because I didn’t phrase anything aggressively. I simply mirrored the style of one of your sentences and then explained my comment in more detail. And you want me to make the post even clearer than addressing it directly to the person? So it would be good for you to figure out what’s bothering you and why.

Am I expecting an apology? No, for one thing, I’ve been active on MDL for too long (and went through this comment section last year). For another, your responses don’t hurt me, because both your interpretation of the content and the tone in which you read comments have nothing to do with me... People can misunderstand things, especially when they’re just reading them. But feel free to ask if there’s something you don’t understand. I know this doesn’t happen often on MDL, but I’m open to questions and discussions.✌️

You saw the bulkier guy in season 1 as a "loser coward soft top?" What does that mean?
Huh? What kind of comment is that? Where did I use categories like
“soft top...” or “hard bottom”?

“Is there a resource in which these categories are listed and defined?”—I have no idea; I don't use categories like that. Nothing could be further from my mind than categorizing people or pigeonholing them.

All I said and meant to convey was that the ML from S1 didn’t set the ML from S2 on the teacher. It’s a person who hasn’t appeared in the series yet who set the ML from S2 on the teacher. You could see him in the photo, and his name is Chang Min.
My comment was in response to the statements: “I meant to say he's a loser because he [ML S1] sent another man to spy on Min Hyeok instead of just contacting him like a normal person” and “Yeah, that part didn't really make much sense, did it?”

Amusing that you didn’t even notice this post isn’t dedicated to KSH at all. But apparently you weren’t hanging out in the comments section a year ago, so you don’t know what happened here... I’m not interested in KSH. But he and the comments section were part of the problem. For me, this is now just a memorial page for someone I held in very high regard. So if you want to comment, please at least read carefully.
