I thought Tian Guinong and Nanlan were boring enough but yesterday’s ep’s Fu Kang’an and Ma Chunhua were worse. MCH barely said anything while FKA spoke sooo slowly, pausing mid sentences…like…this 🥱

Nah, not the style of Candle in the Tomb. There is some romance between Hu Bayi and Shirley but it’s very minimal and subtle.

Watched the 2 eps today. Still very good. I wish more people would watch it. I don’t understand why many people in China commented that this story is the weakest from Jinyong but then got so pissed and rated it poorly when they made some changes to the original novel. Like sheesh make up your mind, what do you want? 😅

I think so. Maybe HF thinks that he needs to be loyal to Ziyi after how she climbed those steps to save his life, so he wouldn't even allow himself to see ANY possibility with CLS. Plus he doesn't know yet that she could never be with him because of her vows. I feel so sad for CLS and prefer her to be with HF but I guess HF staying loyal to YZY is more like his personality. If he had fallen for CLS and chose to be with her the moment YZY's away from him, I'd probably like him less or question his love for YZY.

Omg you're right! I LOVE not just his voice but the way he speaks slowly and calmly. It kinda supports his character as someone with a lot of inner power/energy whatever you call it from a kungfu master.

I thought Yuan Ziyi was perfect for Hu Fei. Then when Chen Lingsu appeared I thought I liked both of them but after she got sisterzoned, I realized I like her more with Hu Fei than Ziyi! Ah complicated! Also, Ma Chunhua finally reappears. That arrogant sticky maskman Shang is so stupid and annoying, I wish he had burned to death with his mom.

I think she’s holding on to a hope that she could have a happy ending with him, that’s why she didn’t tell him the truth.

I don’t remember much from the older version I watched as a kid but I’d love to see HF’s respect for MRF grows like how MRF respected HYD.

I need that kinda closure too! MRF did not even get to see adult HF’s face. I hope the scriptwriter gives us at least one more HF/MRF scene.

Homaigawd the fight scenes are just getting better and better I’m sooo impressed! Actually I think the pace isn’t slow. I like the storytelling and the fight scenes are the highlights. I just felt a little disappointed that Hu Fei didn’t say goodbye to Miao Renfeng. Haha silly of me.

Yeah I saw the Douban rating. So sad about it because that could turn people away from watching this drama. It’s really a good effort by the production team. I’ve seen many worse dramas with much higher ratings.

My logic is that if they could change it and gave TGN and NL more screen time then they could have done so for MRF instead and I'd love the drama more lol! Not to say I don't like it now, this is by far the best wuxia adaptation this year(or dare I say in recent years).
