Yeah that part where Gu Yizhong scolded and shamed Kondo was just ridiculous. I wasn't sure if I should be mad or laugh when Kondo actually looked remorseful HAHAHA 🙄

It deserves to be higher. Short drama and the bad guys predictable but it's still a very good drama as a whole with good acting and plot twists.

The hairstyle helps and his eyes. He's trying hard to give a more naive gaze 😂. Sometimes he tries a bit too hard but most of the time he's ok. Is he older than Qin Hao? Qin Hao's Wuxie is the one that looks oldest to me and least 'naive' but I guess that's also because in that timeline he's already been through a lot. I get the timeline between series mixed up all the time so I might be wrong haha!

Pangzi accidentally hypnotized himself twice is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

Surprisingly he’s doing a good job as Wuxie and he has nice chemistry with Pangzi. I was worried at first. Now after watching 9 episodes I’m convinced he’s Wuxie 😂

I finished. What I love in this drama is Gu papa and the song that Zeng Shunxi sings in the drama. I was so excited for this drama because of Zhang Songwen & I quite like ZSX too but unfortunately I don’t like how the drama’s written and the direction. The drama was great from the start until maybe halfway then it went downhill imo. Anyway, I still think it’s not a bad drama as a whole and should get a higher rating than what Douban gives.

You should watch Zhang Songwen in The Knockout that came after The Bad Kids. That’s his representative work.

😅 yeah I didn’t like it and I expected Republican Era dramas to end shitty. Sometimes it feels like the director is telling the audience that hey we don’t wanna end it like this but we have to, so we’re gonna do it as shitty as possible. I read somewhere recently that some directors decided to end a drama with just a description when they don’t really wanna follow the rules to give a ‘correct’ ending to the characters. BUT with this drama it’s not the ending that’s bad. It’s half the drama that went crash boom bang.

I agree although I’ve yet to watch Ep 36(got carried away by For the Young Ones!). I think they changed the ending to salvage the drama’s rating.

I guess it’s exactly what he said abt trying to make some adjustments if the script doesn’t make sense but if he can’t then he had to obey the what’s written in the script. 🤷‍♀️

😪 and I have to take back my words. The Rebel did a better job than this.

I’m quite disappointed as well. To me, the drama went downhill after Gu papa died. Before that it was so good! It feels as if the drama was written by different scriptwriters. It also doesn’t help that a lot of scenes were edited. They ruined the drama themselves. So dumb.

😅 Someone asked him what would he do if he felt something doesn’t make sense in a script. He said if it has something to do with him, he will discuss with the director to see if they could make some adjustments. If there’s no better way, he still has to obey what’s written in the script. He couldn’t refuse to film just because of that.

So I guess we could read between the lines of the asker and ZSW’s reply 😏

I’m Zhang Songwen’s fan so in my eyes he did a brilliant job for a role that was written poorly. He took this role before gaining popularity from The Knockout and I believe it’s the last role he took before that. So hopefully, from then on he has better scripts and roles he could pick.

Yup GYZ is just a fictional character but the person on XHS was just randomly searching if there’s anyone his character was based on.
