Exactly! I like iQiyi’s interface and it’s been the most reliable with Engsub as well. Like @Lilyfern I’ve shifted from HK dramas to Cdramas so I don’t see any need to subscribe to Astro anymore. I have so many reasons to hate on Astro despite being a long-time subscriber(not anymore). They spammed me demanding I pay some unknown debt when I don’t even own any of their tvbox for years 🙄

Yeah I’m just bummed coz I was so looking forward to it and then when everyone’s enjoying the drama I got…nothing. I’ve been subscribing since 2020 or 2021. It used to be very good and reliable until recently. Anyway, Dramacool here I come.

I hate Astro. Never gonna subscribe to it. I hate Astro for monopolizing and it’s exactly what it’s doing now with iQiyi here. I’ll see for a few days. My subscription has just been renewed 😩 if they don’t upload it by the end of the subscription then I’ll say bye bye to iQiyi.

No I tried several times. It doesn’t even show up in search. I’m guessing they sold the rights to Astro our local channel here. So stupid coz not everyone has Astro 🙄 iQiyi has been super annoying to Malaysians lately. They don’t give us Engsub for Echo and now they’re not giving us Pledge of Allegiance. So why should I pay for subscription I wonder…
Finished the drama last night but once again I’m disappointed with this Light On Series drama. Same problem-strong start, weak ending. I feel like I’m watching 2 stories that were given equal importance so naturally I expect a proper explanation for the ending of both plot lines. But no, after the bickering couple almost drove me insane in the end the toxic wife just gets her way & happily flirts with her ex-hubby and possibly also toxic hubby who might be suffering from hallucinations(which didn’t get explained further) just happily played along & accepted it all. The only thing I got from this is they’re both crazy. I’m already worried for their daughter. At some point I felt that the drama is more about their marital problems than the crime & that’s not what I wanna watch Light On series for. The rushed ending for the couple’s issues left me going “what’s the whole point? What’s the value I got from this?”
Does anyone know the scene where Gao Qi Sheng was on the run, he kinda prayed (throwing things like block) and…
It’s a Chinese belief, maybe a Taoist belief or cultural I’m not sure, but you throw those 2 pieces of crescent-shaped wood on the ground after asking a question or a request to the divine. If both pieces are facing the same sides then the answer is no. If one is facing up and the other down, then it’s a yes. This was what I learned from my grandma who used to make divination with these crescent pieces. So most likely GQS was asking if he could get out of this problem unscathed and the answer was no.
Beginning two third of this crime drama was fascinatingly engrossing and so well plotted but the last one third…
I love those 2. Abt the last part of the drama I already expected that because it’s a Cdrama after all. But the rest of the drama and the acting really made it one of the best crime genre Cdramas till date.
I didn't mind the task force in the sense that you get the heads up upfront that they are going to come "save…
Corrupt flabby faced men 🤣. I love your reviews coz they’re always my thoughts too except I couldn’t put them into words like you do. I love The Knockout and I love Gao Qiqiang as a complex villain. This drama’s highlights to me are how they portray the bad guys. Each one of them are so memorable compared to the ‘good officials’. And I also think that An Xin was able to come this far partly due to him having 2 powerful uncles. It’s a privilege others don’t have. But actually even in the end, GQQ got caught because of Huang Yao, not entirely due to An Xin. I’m just lowkey laughing at the govt for co-producing(or endorsing?) this drama coz it certainly showed more of their incompetence & corruption, plus judging by the response in China, most of the viewers ended up more interested in the villains 🤣.
The Douban score dropped to 8.8. Many people were unhappy with the ending. I expected a more sanitized version,…
Same for me. I expected that type of ending since it’s a Cdrama. No wrongdoings go unpunished. When you’re mentally prepared for this type of propaganda-ish ending, this drama is still very very good. Plus it’s only the last parts of the drama so the big chunk of it is still a great watch. I’ve heard that the death penalty is very common in China especially as a sentence for corrupted officials.
Into episode 6 and enjoying this drama except for that wretched airhead spoilt girl Meng Yu. Is her character…
Aww I like her. She’s not spoiled, you’ll see. Which ML are you referring to? To me both An Xin and Gao Qiqiang are MLs 😀. If you mean An Xin, I guess the drama wants to show us a stark before-after of a young cop through the years of fighting with the crime lords and corrupted officials. To me, the highlight is Gao Qiqiang and his complexities.
