Thank you for this, it seems like we've had very similar thoughts (at the same time 😅). Some comments here are doing the exact same thing that Wine had to go through all this time and contributed to her trauma. In general I feel people are way too uncharitable towards her, her incredible character development and how much she's worked on herself.
I understand why people are frustrated with Wine not confiding in Lal but healing from trauma takes a lot of time and isn’t always linear. Just because she was able to tell Lal about what happened with that man in the past doesn’t necessarily mean she’s ready for other steps as well. She’s clearly still heavily traumatised/gets triggered and freezes whenever Korn’s around. And it’s absolutely nobody’s fault, Lal has done everything in her power to support her but at the end of the day, Wine has to find that “final” strength within herself but she’s obviously still struggling and it isn’t her fault either and it has nothing to do with her not trying hard enough or not wanting it enough, it’s simply the way trauma/mental health struggles work and I think they're doing a great job at showing it. I agree that it’s more stereotypical story-writing to create (last-minute) drama but that doesn’t mean Wine holding back or is unrealistic, stupid or cowardly. All her life she’s received the message that she’s somehow to blame for what happened, she’s always felt like a burden to others, she has obvious avoidant tendencies and now on top of that that disgusting creature threatens not only her but also Lal, so I think it’s very much believable that Wine would choose to “sacrifice” herself to protect Lal.
