To be honest, I knew about this show at least two months back but I didn't see people talking about it enough,…
I cried too at the scenes of her traumatic past and ending. It is thoughtfully made, slowly unveiling the mystery like peeling back an onion. I like its pacing, different from other dramas that feel like the story is being rushed through.
This drama feels so carefully and lovingly crafted. Like this team remembered there are standards that should be met and the audience respected. Only watched till ep 9 so far but if the quality remains throughout , it will definitely be one of my fave dramas in general, and fave work of Bai Lu and Cheng Lei.
This movie was so, so good. Brought to mind Lost In Translation which I had watched as a young adult and didn’t quite get it then but rewatched it many years later and wham! it hit me hard. The yearning, the paths that crossed at the wrong time, the lost loves. A quiet movie that doesn’t pull its punches.
Lovely 8-episode drama to watch in between those heavier, longer ones. Great acting from the whole cast - even characters with a short screen time made me tear up. The key is to not over-analyse, it is after all intended to be lighthearted, not angsty. Enjoy it like you would a chocolate truffle. Confession, the Japanese cover sung by Kim Chae Won, is perfect fizzy pop.
A lively and quick glimpse of Xinjiang in this drama, specifically Kashgar. This drama reminds me of the drama Meet Yourself which showcased Yunnan / Dali and made me want to go there. 8 episodes - short and sweet, goes by in a flash.
This was a winner for me. I actually watched it till the end. I like both leads and the gentle, compassionate souls they both were, except for when they had to get rid of the baddies, especially lead actor Ren Jia Lun. Plenty of plot twists, with interesting characters up until the last episode. Skilful editing team that kept the story pacing even and coherent. Fight scenes and effects were great. Main plot line of everyone plays a part to save the world is highly relatable. All in all, an all-round entertaining drama worth the 40 episodes of watching time.
I’ve watched till ep12 and am waiting for 13 to drop. A beautiful story so far. Well-made. Well-directed. Well-acted. Ci Sha, Ren Min and Winwin are a revelation. More, please!
Yep. It's both very tightly written and very tightly directed, and then immaculately post-produced, so the pacing…
I can relate - I’ve dropped so many dramas because of poor storytelling or simply because of the high cringe factor. I’m okay with lower budget costumes and sets as long as the story is told well. Many dramas falter at the ending stretch - it’s like a genetic issue 😆, disappointing the viewer is part of the plan or the team got too tired to care.
This is the most enjoyable cdrama I’ve watched in a long time! A real surprise to me. I haven’t been able to watch any of Alan Ren’s works before mostly because they tend to have tragic endings. Just zipping through the episodes but trying to slow down because I’ll run out of new episodes to watch.
Had no expectations coming into this drama and it has surprised me - I’m hooked (am at ep11) ! It’s a fun watch and pace is even, plot is unpredictable. Loving the sister disciple Ah Sheng so far - she’s so bad-ass!
