Really wanted to love this.

This one started off SO STRONG with cool FX, fun kung fu, and characters like the Fox Sisters (LOVED them!). But somewhere around Ep 5, the story started going all over the place, everyone was sad and crying, and by the 20th ep everyone was dying, coming back to life, dying, repeat - and all of them had to have a lengthy tearful montage. If you dig sad sack shows with male eye candy - you'll like this. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: I was pretty bummed out by the entire Wu Shiguang/Wu Wangyan romance which I had been really looking forward to the most. They basically went in a time warp and in five minutes had been married for 30 years and suddenly loved each other. Total let down. Also, they are two of my fave cdrama actors and didn't have enough screen time. Instead we had to watch Lu Wuyi and Ji Ling cry for 20 episodes.

Good Story, So-So Romance

If you're a big fan of romance, on a scale of icy to scorching hot - I give this one a lukewarm.

Cheng Lei is gorgeous and does a really wonderful job with his character's emotion throughout the show. This was my first time watching the popular Bai Lu. Her character's story is amazing and I was glued to the screen to find out what exactly was going on with her. Too bad the actress didn't portray her well. It was a super flat performance. I'll give BL another chance though. Maybe it was just this drama where she falls a little flat? She was just so one-note the entire time.

The ending was a little lack-luster, as well as the OST. Sometimes the music sounded like it came from an 80's sitcom or a Lifetime movie. Weird. I'm giving this one an overall 8 though just for the story which kept me guessing through Ep what - 32? And Chen Lei who did an amazing job. Bonus points for that little cutie Lin Muran. That kid is GOING places!!

So Loooooong

If you like multiple romances (I do!) then you'll love that all of the 6 daughters find love in this show. What I didn't like about this drama is that even though there is so much room for swoon-worthy romance with all of the sisters - somehow the production was able to squeeze it all in about 25% of the entire show. The rest was family-in-law politics and side mysteries. If you like a dash of romance with all of your side story fluff, then you'll probably like this one more than I did.

My first K Drama - - Loved it!

Not going to lie - this was a show that I almost gave up on after episode 1 of Part 1. SO glad I gave it another chance because it's going in my top five. The action in Ep 1 was super cool but they throw a LOT of history at you right at the beginning and it took awhile to get to the fun part. Do give it a chance though because it gets better.

It ticked all my drama boxes; cute MLs, fantasy/magic, good music, interesting story, fun characters - it made me LOL a lot (mid Part 1 and lots of Part 2) - - I was laugh barking so loud, I scared my cat.

Also - you can totally make a drinking game with this show! (Semi-spoilers ahead)
- Every time there's a montage
- One of the characters cries
-Slow motion walk
- The Prince sighs and looks thoughtfully "Hmm"
- Jung Uk MAKES AN ENTRANCE (Part 2)

I read somewhere that someone suggested to skip Part 2 - - - So glad I gave it a shot because I liked it more than the first part!

Loved this more than Part 1!

I reviewed Part 1, thinking I was leaving a review for both parts - but feel obligated to leave another since this part seems to be getting such low reviews. I really enjoyed this one! I'd heard that Part 2 was a waste of time but thought I'd give it a try and so glad I did. Jung Uk was ON POINT in this part and I enjoyed this FL a lot more (not necessarily the actress but the character herself). The FL in Part 1 is so wooden.. but in P2 she's a lot more fun. Part 1 had some good laughs mid-way but I laughed a lot more during Part 2 - so much so that I actually scared my cat a couple of times.

Anyway - watch both parts as they are both really good!
