Horror is NOT my thing

Horror is NOT my thing. Good to know. I only watched School Tales for Saint anyway, and his episode was pretty good and the least gruesome, so that was nice.

Favorite episodes are:

The Book of Corpses. Orn is a pretty terrific actress and I liked her role a lot. Bullying is an overarching theme through the entire series, but I felt that it was shown pretty strongly here, and in a fairly relevant way. Minus the whole ghost thing.

The Headless Teacher – This episode is unashamedly my favorite episode. It was campy and funny and I loved it. It was less creepy than the rest because it was approached with humor. I also think it’s important to remember that teacher/student relationships are NOT okay. Ever.

The Curse – First introduction to Fiat, but he’s got some acting chops as Korn. Better than most of the other young male actors in the anthology. Or the actors, period (some of them were pretty stiff). Also deals with bullying, but does show another side to it too. Creepy ending, like pretty much all of the episodes.

Walk in School – Watched for Saint as Boyd. He’s good, as always, although not my favorite role for him, at all. He’s best as Off in “Let’s Fight Ghost” imo. At least, so far in his acting career. I almost guessed the twist, or rather, I was expecting some sort of twist so what happened made sense. I like that he wasn’t ripped apart or hung or had his entrails cut out. It was a pretty great episode, and deals with unresolved betrayals of friendships.

Wanted to like, but didn’t:

Lunch – I’ve got an issue with cyber-bullying. And he reminds me of the a**holes that call themselves First Amendment Auditors in the US. It’s a thing, but shouldn’t be, and is just an excuse to bully people in an attempt to push First Amendment rights to the breaking point. Not cool, so I wasn’t on Kong’s side, at all. Plus, don’t kill a cat. Just don’t. No matter the story, I’m going to hate it if a cat dies cruelly.

Overall, it's fine. I'm sure folks who like and watch horror religiously will either hate or love it depending on how good or bad each episode is. I have no idea because I don't really watch horror. And I have no intention of starting. Unless Saint's in it. Then I will.
