I think you are using "male gaze" to refer to something different then what the term is usually used for. You're talking about how the series centered men too much and had misogyny, I agree with all of that, I loved the chemistry but the writing was very problematic, but it wasn't "male gaze" in the way it shot wlw.

I have the same concern as you but how was Affair male gaze? It was directed by a woman.

I have heard the novel is a really cute and well written romcom-GL, at the same time it also includes real life issues that makes it relatable. It has the director and writers from only boo that are doing the adaptation, they also have a cast that really suits this romcom genre, I think this has all the ingredients it needs to become a great GL so I can't wait, I need more wholesome sapphic romance in my life.

He also wrote "Manner of Death" and "He's coming to me". Haven't seen them but they have pretty good ratings, but there needs to be a woman who writes with him, I don't trust a man to adapt a GL novel alone.

Since I really enjoyed their chemistry in the US pilot I wish EmiBonnie could be in this series with them too(also, since I'm greedy, it would be fire if other GMMTV-GL actors like Ciize, Earn, Kapook, junemewnich got a cameo or a small part too).

I just saw that The loyal pin has a 9.2 with 2k votes on IMDb. It's comforting to see not everyone has the attention span of an 8-year-old. This series starts out as a relaxing slice of life GL set in the 50s and gradually becomes a much more serious drama. The drama has characters that deal with difficult subjects like social stratification, patriarchy, forced marriage, heteronormativity, Internalized lesbophobia. When the drama eventually happens, it has a much greater impact BECAUSE of the many episodes spent with the characters in a relaxed and happy setting.

That picture of Kawin surrounded by all those girls in tight dresses, I hate when bl writers have women throwing themselves at some (queer) man. It's so offensive to write women like this in a GL. This why bl writers need to stay away from gl they write women like they are man crazy with no brain. This is a gl sammon.

But on IMDB it has a 9.1 since there are way more gl fans and non lesbophobic people over there then on mydramalist where a majority are quite conservative, and yes, I have seen plenty of girls that watch bl for escapism but they don't support lgbt, especially lesbians.

I think I know what "Rainymood12" is talking about. It's that there are not a lot of Thai GL fans on this site, they use other sites like IMDb and Letterboxd. Look at the rating difference between Affair on this site: 8/10 and then compare it to iMDB, it's 8.6/10 or the loyal pin has a 9.1 on IMDb only a 8.1 here, Pluto has 9.1 on IMDb, here it's only an 8. On this site, badly written (cringe) series like Jack & Joker can get an 8.9/10 because they have a strong fandom of users on this site that will rate anything they do a 10.

But for series and movies that don't have that type of fandom on this site. They get a much lower rating than they deserve. The handmaiden is rated very high on the list of greatest movies of all time with a rating of 4.4/5 on the letterboxd site (the number 1 movie of all time has a 4.7/5 btw) but on mydramalist the handmaiden only has an 8.2/10. The same goes for great BL that don't appeal to basic Thai BL fangirls, like I Told Sunset About You only has 8.1 but on IMDb it has 8.8/10. Also, BL made by Koreans get much lower scores even though a lot of them are much better then the Thai ones.

This is all because of Thai BL fangirls who will only support their favs, as well as the fact that there are lot of lesbophobic people on mydramalist.

The point is, Pluto had a great first episode but only got an 8/10. If all the women in Pluto were played by some basic Thai BL actors that have a dedicated fandom their fans would have made the first episode get an 8.8 rating or something...

It's rumored that gmmtv is just making 2 gl vs 9 bl. While gl is rising in popularity and most of them are successful more then half of the bl's coming out by gmmtv are flops, other companies know gl is it rn but gmmtv as always are just being plain dumb or it's simply misogyny because wtf is this... They have so many great actresses that deserve so much better, while all their problematic male actors are getting so many projects

There has probably not been an actress that has been more enthusiastic about doing GL then Namtan. Which says a lot since she doesn't need GL to be successful since she is already established. She has talked a lot about how it means a lot to her personally as a queer woman(she has been in a wlw play before but this is her first GL). But Film too has been very enthusiastic and cared a lot with Namtan to work towards doing this series for a year working on their chemistry and doing research for their roles, it has been a long journey for them to get to this point and both of them but especially Namtan has implied several times that she wants to continue making GL and that this is her most important role.
