Nothing new.

I saw so many people giving the drama a 9.5 or a 10, but I just couldn't enjoy it... There were too many things that weren't right to me.

First, there were too many tropes and clichés that were already used in recent romcoms. The drama felt like a paste and copy of the 2024 romcoms, to me.
Former swimmer that had to give up his dream because of an accident ---> Lovely Runner
Burnout and work harassement ---> Doctor Slump
Childhood friends to lovers ---> Welcome to Samdalri
Illness ---> Queen of Tears
All of this felt like the screenwriter didn't have enough ideas to write a story without copying something from other (recent) dramas... So the story felt overused, nothing new. I wasn't expecting something mindblowing from a romcom, but it really had nothing unique in the story, that made ot stand out from the other romcoms released this year. It was very average.
I did like the change of the episodes titles, tho. Like "Hate ---> Love". This was the only unique thing that I saw from this story.

Second, I didn't see the chemistry between them at all... I love both Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min so much, but I had zero interest in their characters. I found them poorly written and one dimensional, except for episodes 9 and 10 which gave a little more depth. But two episodes can't save the other 14...
It could be because of the way their characters were written.
It's not their fault, tho. They only did their job, portraying on screen the characters that screenwriters wrote. But they felt really weak to me. I was more invested in the second lead couple, which is the reason why I kept watching it, even tho it wasn't an original story too (same thing as Doctor Slump and Welcome to Samdalri).

I couldn't stand Seok Ryu's mother. Why many kdrama moms have to be so abusive? She didn't listen to her daughter, except when she learnt that she was sick. She also treats the other family members really bad, with words and with her hands... She's one of the worst kdrama moms I've seen, ugh.

There are also things I liked, for example the fact that there was no love triangle (yes, there was the ex, but his purpose was more to reveal Seok Ryu's past, than to be a real enemy to Seung Hyo).
I also loved the fact that both the exes were actually green flags.
I loved the second lead couple and some scenes actually made me emotional.

But, to be honest, it's not enough to give the drama a good rating.
I have giving bad ratings, mainly because, if I don't like something, I just stop watching it. I don't like to waste time. But since it was on air and there were only 2 eps per week, I did an exception.
I just can't bring myself to like this drama like other people do, and honestly I don't want to. Everyone has its own taste, and it's okay.
