Tae Seon became a prosecutor cz of his dad like to send more murderers to jail cz he wanted to help more people like him. The friend on the other hand doesn't know he is the victim's son cz he changed his name and while she was investigating another case (the ongoing drug case) she suspects that chae ha's dad wasn't the murderer and chae ha submitted his dairy as evidence to prove it but cz he was the murderers son, that evidence was ignored. So she wanted to talk to both the murderer and victim's son. Fearing his identity would be revealed he says he'll talk to the son. That's when he finds out chae ha joined the police and is disgusted cz he thinks chae ha joined the police cz he wants to prove his dad innocent. So he kinda decides that day to show him how bad of a person his dad is. In the meantime the friend dies... and years later he also ends up meeting chae ha in the fine department.

You see chae ha's dad was supposed to get like 3 mil won as bonus but the intent of murder in the file says he killed tae seon's dad for 1 mil won he had which doesn't make sense. Tae Son is like blinded by revenge so he is literally ignoring the obvious clues but then while he hates chae ha he is also falling for him so he wants to know the truth now, years later. That's the reason he decided to reinvestigate the whole case with chae ha. Chae ha on the other hand also isn't sure if his father is innocent. He just becomes a police to escape his uncle. He didn't want to investigate fearing he'd hate his dad but tae seon convinced him.

Now they're like sons of 2 high school buddies cum coworkers. Where one buddy killed another and committed suicide. Kinda like in a i can't love you but can't help but fall for you kinda zone
