I have been a fan of Ning Jing since Xiao Zhuang Epic. She's an amazing actor who unfortunately has been in a series of low production shows. Ning Jing is beautiful, but sadly she has mostly been cast in shows with make up and costumes that really age her. This particular series has good acting and a promising storyline. However, the dated and cheesy costumes are distracting, making it hard to watch. I had to fast forward a lot to be able to able to finish it. This is supposed to be a love triangle based on the description, but it really lacks romance. The title suggests a focus on emperor Yongle, but it felt like it was all about the female lead and her story. Due to the different directions of the story, all three aspects felt weak and underdeveloped. And the ending is just blah.
