I've been waiting for this for two years since I became Cheng Yi's fan. Now rewatching Stand by Me for the 3rd or 4th time I realize what amazing chemistry Cheng Yi and Zahn Yu xi have. I'm not sure how long ago it was filmed but it may feel like a blast from the past, but I"m excited to see this story even though I prefer the costume dramas.

I have high expectations! Ji Chang wook is so great at drama. I just hope it won't be *too* dark like some of those serial killer dramas, but I don't think this sounds that dark.

It's amazing! I saw the rating right before I started watching and I was so excited. It's so rare of a c-drama to get that rating.

I watched it purely for Cheng Yi because I really didn't like the story itself at all, but his acting is supurb there and even the romance is fun to watch. Also I like the voice actor who has done his earlier roles, though now I hope we'll get his real voice exclusively in the future.

oh wow, your words recounting that scene are enough to make me cry now. I felt Cheng Yi's acting so much in that scene, it was a hugely impactful moment for his character.

That's something I really loved about this drama was that Cheng Yi's character is playing a wiser, older person (than most MLs in these kinds of dramas), he can speak with experience to his disciple and has matured a lot since his younger days. Rarely does a drama really give you that feeling of change in a character.

I'm definitely going to turn around and re-watch in the next few weeks. after having just watched Blood of Youth twice before this.

oh gosh. That was the hardest part of this whole drama. I think you could be right, because there's a reason that scene with the revelations is so powerful to everyone. So sad...

Oh my goodness, I feel exactly the same way about xianxias! I did watch Cheng Yi all the way through Love and Redemption but I will forever refer to it as the show where I wanted to pull my hair out. Though all the actors gave their best, I watched it only for Cheng Yi because the story just wasn't for me.

That is why I only got through half of the first episode of Till the End of the Moon (thought I really like the main actor) because the ML was putting up with so much unfair suffering. Perhaps I could enjoy it if I'm in a different frame of mind. I prefer the "honorable enemies" type of stories where the conflict is something you can enjoy, not gnash your teeth over and feel angry.

I so agree with all your statements. Though actually a good romance is lovely, I definitely enjoy the bromance stories the most. I really really liked Blood of Youth's approach to romance, btw.

I think you might like Stand by Me with Cheng Yi. That is his other show that I like, though MLC now has topped it. In it he plays a young emperor who is struggling against the powerful head eunuch and has made some dark decisions to get to where he is. It's a political drama and the main heroine is the person who can fight. Also Lu Lu (from the untamed) plays a BRILLIANT character that made me her fan. I especially love Cheng Yi's portrayal of this not-quite-good but deeply sympathetic young emperor who won't give up against an over-the-top and villainous eunuch.

I know! Within a few moments of the opening episode I had to pause and look up if it was his own voice. We should always be able to hear his own voice! He puts a lot of unexpected warmth and sarcasm into his words.

I had to pause and look up Hero Legends to see if I'd missed something ... looks like it's still to be broadcast. Maybe it is still filming?

I adore both, but I would recommend Blood of Youth first (great mysterious male lead and awesome fight scenes, and great collection of characters), and then MLC gives you more of the enigmatic hero's point of view, really interesting relationships between the characters, and a lot of emotions too.

"Rival mafia gangs" is a great description for it! Baffling to me entirely. But I'm happy to hear that the audience is loving this show as much as I do. Cheng Yi is truly a talent.
