One of the problems I have with this justification for JT is that it was not shown earlier in the drama that he had this burning all-consuming motivation for HS to inherit everything. Any lines along the way where he kept telling HS one day this will all be yours so you need to be ready would make it more believable.
The way we found out this was his motivation makes it seem like he made it up on the spot because HS caught him and NY and he had to explain his actions.

Yes she is. If she wasn't she would have figured out being married to the 2nd son was not a bad deal or a step down at all. They own a hospital and run a foundation.
