I am sorry, but it is literally driving me nuts that so many commenters actually believe Mingyu truly stole his best friend's fiance because he needed her to gain support. Nonsense. He was obsessed with her, so he took her...simple. Being sickly and all, he was already making moves to become emperor before he even met her. If he wasn't confident in his bid to take the throne and be successful without stealing his best friend's fiance then he should have never taken the bold steps to do so. Mingyu is a coward, disloyal with no sense of loyalty and integrity. Period. Alright, I just had to add that, because the fallacy that he was making a political decision to steal YanYan is 100% false. He was already drawing pictures of her to please himself to before he even knew her political views.

If you have a problem accepting others views then perhaps don't read the comments, which will be filled with folks voicing both negative and positive opinions . Actually, the term sex slave (while an exaggeration) is appropriate. Mingyu totally had a physical obsession for YanYan as he was drawing pictures of her to pleasure himself to before he even knew her political views. As the matter of fact, after their wedding as they are sitting on the bed in the wedding attire, she tells him she will "obey" him and he promptly asks for SEX. Lol! Again, he is the emperor, so he can pretty much bed whomever he wants. He knows he will eventually get his lusts met having forced her to be his wife, Again, sex-slave is valid...at least in my opinion it is. I find this emperor almost as despicable as the one in Yanxi Palace who actually takes the cake.
