I am subbing really hard with Gu Jia in Ep. 38. My chest, I can't take the pain. The best acting award goes to Tong Yao.

It's why I love the drama so much, all the actors embody their characters so well that you forget it's acting. I look at Tong Yao's (Gu Jia) character from Like a Flowing River, and in this drama, so different, yet, she embodied them so perfectly, you think she's indeed the person.
I will watch out for her dramas now. All the ones (contemporary drama) I have seen her in are all matured content. I guess people like her focus on acting as a craft than "Idol" type of dramas. Although I didn't finish the Get Married or Not drama yet.

Me too! I always avoid Chinese contemporary dramas because they don’t really know how to do them well. This time , they got it right and I’m pleased.

I was really satisfied with today’s episodes and the preview of tomorrow’s episodes are even more satisfying. Can’t wait. XuHuanShan had the opportunity to confess and beg for forgiveness, but het grew it away. Now, he will get no pity from Gu. This is a really great production.

It's been proven that he's not the most smart person. From the story, Gu Jia made the fireworks company a success. He's talented, yes, but without Gu Jia's push and ambition, he would have remained simply a fireworks designer, earning a salary. He would not even have the luxury to afford a Mistress as he is doing now.
So, it's not a surprise he couldn't effectively have an affair either.

She's not perfect, but that's ok as no human is. She can come off as controlling/over bearing due to her take-charge and ambitious personality, this is why she needs a confident man, who won't feel threatened to be with her. Just look at XuYuan, her husband, just from comments from UU on how his wife is supposedly controlling him, he started acting out to prove otherwise. SMH.

This is the thing with CDramas. When they tell good stories (especially contemporary dramas), they forget how to tie it together to give it a beautiful ending. I fear this wonderful drama will suffer the same fate. I mean we are only 10 or less episodes left to end, and yet too many things to tidy up smoothly.

I guess he was acting out of jealousy and he has always been portrayed as a spontaneous and fun kind of person. It may not necessarily be age, just his personality which stems from being a spoilt only child of well-to-do parents (his parents bought him an apartment already and give him money too)

Yes, Zhao Xiao Yang lost his damn mind, LOL. I'm with you on Ma Ni. She better not marry out of gratitude and resign her fate to small town life, which is not what she wants at all.

He was already having an affair from the moment he included her name in the fireworks display. He just consummated the relationship.

I am in love with this drama. Worth every bit of my time spent. I hope they don't bungle it in the end. The Chinese have a way of not knowing how to end dramas.

I have been waiting for a Chinese modern drama with "mature" female characters. I hate the "teen" women and feminised male modern dramas. It grates my nerves. But, this, I love!
