I love this show so much. The first episode was bad, but everything since then has been so adorable. It's the perfect high school slice of life, there's no complicated plot, just two boys falling in love. This season of high school BLs has been really wonderful.
I'm really glad Gawin got a leading role. He's a great actor. I'll watch this because he's in it and hope for the best in spite of the circumstances. Hopefully, this leads to more roles with other actors in 2023.
I tried to force myself to watch this just to see the cameos and figure out if this was worse than Enchante, but I quit. I sat through 5 episodes of generic lines, blank stares, nonsensical dialogue, a complete disregard for trying to return to the other universe, a man keeping his identity secret from the person he says he likes and I didn't care about anything or anyone. The final straw was watching Tun stick his hand out while there was a light sprinkle of snow and immediately having a cup full of snow! Why even include that in the show?!?!
GMMTV knows the formula and rarely tries to make anything worth watching these days. When they have good or great actors in their series, those series are usually very good. But when they allow newbie actors to be leads and when they use scripts with no depth, the result is almost always, boring, bland, frustrating, unentertaining and not worth watching. The fact that this silly series has TWELVE sponsors and has been marketed better than most other GMMTV series this year is sooooo ridiculous but also not surprising.
P.S. It becomes more obvious that people/companies inflate MDL ratings when shows like this are among the highest rated BLs on MDL of the year.
This show feels like it came out of no where to rescue us from the same boring stories that shows have been producing the last few months and I couldn't be happier. I cared more about Shin Jae Woo and Kang Ji Hoon in 10 minutes than I have about a lot of characters this year after a full season. I need these two to have a happy ending!!
Older comments on here reference the troubles with the production. I didn't see any sponsors in the intro, credits or during the show which is rare for Thai BLs. Usually, when a series can't secure sponsors, it doesn't even get made. But this is a rare case when the show was made, but not released until later. I don't know all of the details of what happened, but I expect that with more money behind the series, the production would have been better.
This isn't bad, but I didn't care about any of the characters and didn't connect with the story. Luckily it's very short because I've yet to see a BL that centers around cooking that's been good.
If the time between Shin's birthday and the last 5 minutes of episode 12 was shorter, I'd probably really like this show. But the pacing of the series wasn't ideal and by the time Minato FINALLY stopped wasting everyone's time, I was mostly over it.
I wish we'd learned more about Shuu and spent more time with him and Asuka. I really liked their backstory. Overall, Shin was the reason I kept coming back week after week. He was wonderful and I hope to see more from Katsuki Shintaro in the future.
I think this would be a nice show to binge if you like a slow burn.
It's unfortunate that this was released late, they couldn't get sponsors and it's unfinished. There may have been a good story here that could have been told in 8 - 10 episodes or as film. But what we got was an incomplete innocent story with two fine lead actors.
Cultural appropriation is tricky subject - so i won't comment on blackface anymore because i truly believe actors…
Only time will tell if they do a season 5. But you're completely right about actors making almost no money from shows. Foei will be at an event with other GMMTV artists this week. I have no idea if either/both actors will be ostracized in the industry going forward. Unfortunately, knowing how the industry works, I'd be surprised if they don't keep getting jobs.
I think the writers were inspired by MAME, but can't come close to capturing any of the intangibles that make people watch her series. I'm a bit confused about why they decided to have two leads who were this unlikeable and a supporting cast that just obsesses over the leads. I won't judge an entire series after the first episode, but they've given me no reason to want to watch more. From the HUGE cast of amateurs who weren't required to take an acting class, to the camera person who LOVES close-ups, the female character who will spend the series chasing a gay man, cheating, emotional manipulation, misgendering a transgender person and yet another rabid fan club, I'm gonna take a pass on this series.

I place blame with GMMTV and everyone's managers for the Blackface incident. They should have known better and it never should have happened.
I agree with you completely about the "joke". Since White and Foei spent much of the show bullying some of the others, I feel like in their minds what they said to First was an escalation of the same behavior they'd already gotten away with throughout the season. But as you said, I can't imagine they'd say it if some other seniors had been there. Earth, Gun and Off are all well respected by others in the industry and older than Foei and White. In the past, the older guys played an older brother role to the younger cast members and I think that was part of what made past seasons so enjoyable. Tay and New had that role in some early episodes of season 4, but the power balance was in Foei and White's favor which is unfortunate. They ran the house and even though I didn't watch every episode, I rarely saw any of the younger ones having fun.
GMMTV did a poor job with casting, managing the house, picking games and resolving the situation after the "joke". GMMTV failed the young cast members and the audience. I won't forget any of it. What happens next for Foei and White will be telling. But if anything like this happens in the future with a GMMTV actor, especially during a GMMTV production, that will be even more telling.
In the end, for the sake of their careers and well-being, I'm glad more well-known actors weren't cast members this season. But I truly wish that if season 5 happens, that they include older cast members who stay all 7 days, aren't bullies and have earned the respect of the others in the house.
This season should not exist. You know a show is truly awful when Blackface isn't the worst thing that happens. But whatever producer came up with the idea to do that should be fired IMMEDIATELY. In most situations, Blackface would be the ultimate deal breaker, but the rape "joke" tops it all.
In most cases, I don't think people should have their careers ruined by one mistake, but I don't want to watch another series with Foei or White. Knowing that Foei was in Manner of Death (a show that included rape) and that White was in the first big Thai BL (Love Sick) among other series, just makes it even more disgusting. What they said was so diabolical and predatory that it can't be forgotten. Clearly, they were talking about it BEFORE they sat at that dinner table and only apologized because they were forced to.
I can't understand why GMMTV let them stay in the house. The entire season was a complete dud and I'm not sure I even want to see a season 5. GMMTV always portrays itself as a big family, but there's a reason why some actors keep to themselves. I can't imagine how many other actors have had to deal with similar "jokes" from their peers off camera. I feel bad for the newbies. I'm glad New, Tay and Sing left early. And hope everyone supports First and Khaotung in The Eclipse, they are both doing a wonderful job.
How did this show come out of nowhere and feel like the best series of the year?!?!?! I'm sad there are only 8 episodes, I REALLY hate Ye Guang's parents, but wow I'm absolutely LOVING this show!!!!
It's so refreshing to watch a Thai BL that isn't set in school or focused on cooking or the mob. I can't say that this is one of my favorites. But I enjoyed the story, Rossi's acting was very good and the show had non-geoblocked subs on youtube! I'm looking forward to future MindTrio projects.
Most Bl fans jump on when romance part start - for now we had one "accidental" kiss if you compare it with Love…
I think you're right. I bet some people put it on hold and will binge it later. But I'm glad the ratings are pretty good since the company isn't really marketing it like they have other shows.
I'm so sick of series after series forcing couples on us that should never be together in a million years. They…
You PERFECTLY summed up one of the biggest issues with shows these days. These days the majority of the shows I see have me wondering why the two characters don't run away from each other as fast as they can. I think one of the problems is that shows used to spend so much time developing characters and strengthening the bond between the leads even before they got together, that once they finally did it was exactly what I'd been waiting for. Now many shows don't bother to develop characters outside of one or two vague traits (he's rich, he's clumsy, he likes to be tied up).
I'd laugh if it weren't all so basic and underdeveloped. Personally, if I don't know the characters or their motivations, it's hard for me to get excited about them being in a relationship because that almost always means the other character also doesn't know or understand them. It's lazy writing and to shows that are boring and predictable.
It feels like many companies are just picking two attractive guys, giving them random personality traits, saying the two will end up together and skipping the entire writing process all the while expecting audiences to love every minute of these series. The sad part for me is that many people love any and everything. Even the most subpar shows have fans who give them 10/10 ratings and call them masterpieces. It's ridiculous and incentives companies not to try harder.
