As a South Asian I HATE this mindset of "they're still your parents, siblings, cousins, relatives, etc."
Idc where you are from (not directly to you my friend). Idc about culture. Normalize this. We also have this mindset in my country about "they're still your family, etc", and I don't care. I don't talk to most of mine because of how they treated, my mother, my siblings and I. I also don't refer to them as my family. I don't have time for foolishness. Life is already hard.
