Nah, once you watch 5 Korean dramas it's like you watched all of them, almost always similar safe linear plot (there are some exceptions obviously, which is great) Japanese dramas are much more unpredictible and that makes them interesting. Korean dramas may be better in the production aspect but they are no better in plot/story aspect (I'm not talking about this particular drama because this one isn't really good but in general) When it comes to acting, it depends what you like, each acting Korean, Japanese or Chinese is different and tbh depending on mood I like each of them.
Can someone who is not usually a bl fan and watched it say if this drama is really that good (when it comes to characters and plot)? Or should I wait a couple of months so that the hype and ratings stabilize?
