Rather simple but cute
I'm surprised by how much I liked this series. I was expecting something a bit too slow and slightly overrated, but it's nothing like that. The series has a nice tempo and I really love the main characters. 8 episodes was really too short I just need more!! Recently I've barely been able to watch BL's so having a 'shorter' one was actually quite nice, especially with this plot. At first I was really confused and had to rewatch the first episode. So watching this without focus is not a huge suggestion. This review isn't really gonna be special because I have no idea what to write.
I find Ji Won soooo adorable I genuinely can't. I'm afraid I fell in love with him, the moment he started wearing the hood of his hoodie. I find it rather hard to related to a specific lead or character which is usually something I find important. I don't really have the impression that Ji Won was actually a big Basketball player because the shows didn't really show a lot of the fame side. However, It actually didn't matter that much. I didn't really feel much connection to Jeong U and I was more focussed on Ji won. I really like how honest Jeong U was toward Ji Won about his feelings and everything. He was just so adorable I really need a man like that.
As for the side characters, I find it so funny they didn't even realise Ji Won and Jeong U were dating, I found that part where Jeong U randomly says he was gay sooooo funny. I actually had already seen it on TikTok but I didn't know it was from Ball Boy Tactics. Also the side characters are soooo cute together, everyone was begging for a second season or special episodes. The acting work is amazing, every character and actor. I just need more in general of the actors.
One thing I noticed was the huge improvement in production. In episode 1-2 I noticed that there was this weird colour correction but after those episodes everything improved. It might really just be me who sees that, since I haven't been sleeping well lately. I haven't seen Kim Eun Hye directing before but Jun & Jun and Why R U? are both on my watchlist!! Also extremely excited about Have You Been Wronged? Can't wait to watch it!! I'm surprised by the shots and for a relatively short drama it seems like there's been put a lot of effort on the production.
Overall it was quite good but not super memorable. I'm finishing this review a day after I finished this series and to be very honest I lost everything already. The plot was a little simple and not special. I think what made it this popular. I'm not sure what more to say of this series. It's pretty cute and I do recommend it. It's like a comfort pill but I wouldn't watch it for the plot.
