Adaptation of "Save Myself/What a Good Girl" in historic setting
Su Ma, a high ranking official, “adopts” orphaned girls to raise them as playthings for rich and powerful men in order to curry favours. Su Wan Wan -a former merchant´s daughter who fell into his clutches as a little girl-, however is different, as it seems that he wants her for himself. He ensures her obedience by threatening her with her younger brother, whom he keeps captive and tortures him whenever she does something wrong. One day her zither playing catches the attention of Gong Lin, Prince Rin the Emperor´s brother. She initiates an affair with him and uses him to get back at every Su family member who wronged her, whilst taking one step after another to free herself and her brother.
For a vertical short drama this is a 10/10 ! If you are tired of scenes of abuse and kidnappings, than I highly recommend thiss drama. The plot might be known only too well, but the setting, the acting, the humour are great and the many, many kissing and pda scenes are on another level. I myself just finished watchig and will go right back again just to enjoy the FL kick ass and the ML support her without any hesitation whilst playing "who will seduce whom this time".
