It hurts to close TT chapter for good... but they deserve a HEA

Tharntype SS1 will forever be an absolute favorite. It will go down in my list as the best in the Thai Bl as of this moment, despite some others has better storyline and cinematography. There is just about TT that really catches you and will never let go. There is this feeling of wanting to rewatch until you got your fill. And I indeed watched it for the nth time. It made me hang up and stop me from watching another BL until I'm already past my fill of it. Not to mention the overall cast of SS1 was perfection. I would never imagine any other actors playing the roles other than what was given to us.

Setting aside the gushing for the previous season, I'll lay out what I feel for this current season. SS1 is the storyline that makes me fall in love with TT, but season 2 is the one that made me feel it all. I've only cried once while watching SS1 for the first time and it was on Episode 11. TT SS1 gets better every time you rewatched it. But when it comes to SS2, I cried with Type on his first break down on Episode 7, my heart clenched when they fight on Episode 10, I bawl my eyes when Type thought Tharn finally give up on him on Episode 11, and finally... I cried the whole time especially on their vows in the bedroom in the finale.

TT SS2 gives me the vibes of adult life. It gives the audience a sense of maturity that the characters obtain for seven years while retaining a large of certain aspects they possessed in the prior season. There are a lot of past insecurities, fears, and issues that were brought back to be tackled in this season. And I loved it. It hit close to home. For there are a lot of issues we have that we indeed buried for the sake of moving forward. But those issues remain in the deepest recess of our mind. It's there... lurking... waiting for the trigger to come and it will explode.

That's what happened with TT. Tharn's issue, fears, and insecurities were never completely closed and it haunts him the entire season 2. While Type's one might have its ending in the prior season, but he never had the same feeling of abandonment Tharn had felt when they break up on Ep 11 SS1. He knows that it was just a fake break up. He knows that he is doing it for Tharn's sake. There is a sense of awareness there so he didn't felt what Tharn had felt.

However, on SS2 Ep 11, it was his turn. And it was not just for the sake of him going through the same thing. It is essential... for we know that even if Type loves Tharn more than he will ever admit... there are still times that he sometimes took for granted Tharn's emotions just because he knows Tharn loves him so much. But in that scene, we can see Type's deepest and darkest moments. What he fears the most is when Tharn finally gives up. That there is a nagging feeling inside him that there might be a time that Tharn would finally get enough. And Type couldn't live with it.

Because before this, Type was at the edge of accepting marriage with Tharn in the first place. He was so ready to give in... but he will do that for the sake of making Tharn happy. For giving Tharn what he wants. Before that scene, he entertains the notion of marriage but he still has doubts. However, in that breakdown moment and after that, Type realizes he badly wanted it too. He wanted to tie Tharn with him as much as Tharn wanted it in the first place.

SS2 has a lot of shortcomings. Ep8 and 9 were my least favorite of all... but I will give this to Tharntype for always pulling me back on track. Mew and Gulf did a superb job with SS2. Type was the star obviously as it centered on him... however Tharn has given the feeling of insecurity that is really relatable. And of course who doesn't want someone who is willing to wait for you whatever it costs? Tharn might be a very flawed character and somewhat manipulative... but those characteristic makes him tangible and human. That despite his flaws, he could overcome all of them because one thing is more powerful than any of them: It is his love for Type. He was a selfish person and slightly spoiled, but he can also be understanding and loving all at the same time. A partner that someone like Type deserves.

Oh for Type... I don't know how to start. I don't think I have seen other Thai BL leads (let's put Chinese BL leads on the side for now... they have a different tier of their own) who are as multifaceted as Type is. The character development is absolutely phenomenal. He made me cry, he made me smile, he made me understand, he made me relate and of course, he made me proud. As someone who follows 2 seasons closely, I commend Gulf for giving us the perfect Type. The previously extremely flawed, harsh, and unreasonable anti-hero to an adult who values communication and loved his gay boyfriend to a great length, ready to marry him with a promise of forever.

Never once I compared the plotline of SS1 and SS2, and that's maybe the reason why I both adore the two seasons. I find the SS2 as a different entity and distinct from its predecessor. It gives me a majority of what I need to close TT's chapter so I'm could conclude I am satisfied. However, I believe we should have got TT's marriage. The special episode, should just be their after wedding/honeymoon scenes and maybe there old age relationship situation. But I'm also not sure if it is fine to show in Thai national tv a LGBT marriage though, I wonder.

Oh the box set... it's a different story (eye roll). There are a lot of scenes not just the NC ones that feels cut abruptly and I'm pretty sure will be in that boxset compilation. I bought the SS1 despite getting all the lovely scenes in the series itself. I do that because I wanted a memory of TT for my own. I would still be buying the SS2 boxset if only they do the same thing... but despite my love for TT... I will not. I just can't condone this kind of marketing. Yet I will be buying the special episode... damn marketing and all. I just have to see their wedding. TT has been through a lot and I don't know if I can move forward if I couldn't see that wedding they deserve.

Overall... it is hard to close a chapter of a favorite show but it is a must. Nothing is infinite in this world. But TT will forever be a good memory to look back to.

For those who didn't enjoy SS1 in the first place, I think you will also not find this one suitable with your taste.
Do yourself a favor and just watch what you love. Life is too short to spend it jumping on hate truck. If you don't like it, drop it. It is for your own good too. Hate watching it bad for your health.
