In the novel, Korn did cheat on Kwan with Thamon THAT is why Kwan was so angry about it. Korn dissappeared for an entire year all of a sudden, and ghosted Kwan because she was busy cheating on her with Thamon. She even planted Danai to brainwash and pressurise Kwan's mom into hurrying Kwan's marriage with him so her cheating could be "justified" (and in my opinion this was worse than cheating, cuz she knew Kwan did not like men yet she wanted Kwan to marry a man just so she and Thamon could get away with yheir wrongdoings). In the novel she even admits that she was leading her (Kwan) on and that she never truly loved her. She continued her relationship with Thamon despite knowing she and Kwan are sisters. They kept the "crazy Kwan" part but removed the part that explained why her reaction was so insane. she was betrayed by her lover and her sister.
