The drama is based on real historical events. So it is hard to understand the actions and thoughts of the heroes, because you need to switch your mind and think like people of that era. The plot doesn't have a classical structure and a common idea like revenge or a love triangle. But there is a key figure - Sima Yi - politician, scholar and strategist, who seeks to save his family and country from troubles. Almost all the mentioned historical figures: rulers, advisers, generals have their own virtues and sins. It is difficult to find there a classic artistic villain, as well as an idealized hero. This fact just prevented me from being completely imbued with the story. But the characters is real and changeable. Also the cinematic quality of the drama is worthy of all praise. The director's emphasis on the details was amazing. But this is definitely not a drama for pleasure and fun. I feel that the fictional historical plots, like "Nirvana in fire", are closer to me, due to the strong emotions and justice at the end. Anyway I highly recommend "Alliance of Advisors" to a mature audience who will be able to appreciate it.
