1) Because it is easy to accuse somebody. As many of us on this website know, people love to accuse Korean/Asian celebrities of all kinds of things. Some celebrities even commit suicide. One recent example is Lee Sun-kyun who apparently was accused of using drugs by some unsuccessful former actress.

2) Because they get money for taking those people. If you read international news, you'll notice that Venezuelan people get deported to El Salvador. Last time I checked, Venezuela is not El Salvador.

Further information can be found for free on the internet. If you are able to use a search engine, you'll find them. I provided some keywords to make it easier for you in case you don't know how to use the internet properly.

From what I read, many people here are concerned because we read news about non-US people from our non-US countries who travelled there or lived there, who have a greencard and a job, some even have an US-American spouse, but got detained anyway for weeks without due process. I'm exclusively talking about legal immigrants and tourists who are unlikely to become illiegal immigrants here.

The only difference between those legal immigrants (and tourists) and Gong Hyo-jin is that the latter is very, very rich. What if Gong Hyo-jin answers one of the questions wrong, will she get detained for several days, weeks, months like others? Will she end up in El Salvador like others? Or will her money solve those problems for her?

This has nothing to do with personals opinion on Murican politics or hate. It's just about drawing a parallel between what happened to other foreigners and what might happen to her. Obviously, most of us hope that she'll be happy wherever she decides to live. Only idiots, naive and ignorant people cannot see or understand the difference.

Good action drama with a hint of comedy. The story is quite predictable but still entertaining, in my opinion.

This drama is about bullying, brutal fights, blood and so on. We didn't learn much about the protagonist's private lives either. The friendship/bromance was fine and made sense but romance required a private context, or else it's just voyeurism and fetish. Romance of any kind would be rather awkward, in my opinion. Also, it would add unnecessary drama because the focus would immediately shift on LGBT rights in Korea while the actual story is/was about "random" kids being bullied for no apparent reason.

Despite the relatively bad rating, I found season 2 quite entertaining. It didn't expect it to reinvent the wheel or to inject some pathetic morale, and it didn't. The characters were interesting and diverse (in the good sense, not in the woke sense), and we also learnt a bit about the shooters albeit not much.

Tell that Fabian Schmidt, a German electrical engineer who has a greencard and has been living in the USA since 2007. Last year, he successfully renewed his greencard, so we can assume that he's neither an invader, nor a criminal and not on welfare. He also has an 8 yo daughter (US-American!), and an US-American fiancée who is a cardiologist.

Apart from that, Gong Hyo-jin will very likely NOT be a productive and hard working immigrant because there very likely is no well-paying job for a rich Korean actress like her. Or do you think she'd be some Murican's maid or that she'd work at McDonalds? According to your own claim, she'd be an invader and be expelled.

However, if you follow the news, you very likely know that "expelled" equals some prison in El Salvador, not just "send back at the border".

I'm not sure if you follow international news. If you do, you'd have noticed that the mere accusion of being a gang member is apparently enough to be sent to a prison in El Salvador. You won't even get a due process.

Hint for those who don't believe me: Kilmar Ábrego García. Do your own research. Don't believe me, a random stranger on the internet. Look for information on why he was deported and whether he got a due process where the accusation was proven. Even if you believe that illegal immigrants should be deported, you should be wondering why he wasn't deported for being illegal, which is probably easier to prove (or disprove) than being a gang member. The next step is to wonder if an accusion is sufficient to deport other people like Gong Hyo-jin to El Salvador.

Please stop spreading misinformation and fueling US-American racism idelogy. I know serveral examples from my European country where white people with very "white" names from my country got incarcerated recently when they tried to travel to the USA. They were not sent back at the border as one might expect. Many of them were incarcerated for several weeks before they were released. One example even had a green card and had lived there for 17 years. Since there hasn't been an update in a month, we can assume that he's still in jail. It is/was big news here in my country.

At the moment, moving to the USA is generally a bad idea. Not just for internet darlings.

I'm still wondering what this has to do with KSH. I doubt that he or his money will be able to change our countries. He isn't a politician either, let along the president of a country. Should I compare him to our policitian Ricarda Lang, who cosplayed Muricans during our previous administration, just to make a comparison?

In 3rd world country Germoney, we know how educated you Muricans are with your diversiteigh. We are eager to follow you wherever you go. Can't escape the Murican, so most of us accepted this fate. Q.E.D. :)

Well, 5 is not quite right but, fortunately, the third wheel found an alternative to FL.

Well, instead of the filler scenes in ep. 12, it would have been nice to see a little scene where FL comforts ML, and tells him that he was a little boy, and that it wasn't his fault. This way, ML's trauma story would have ended sufficiently. Instead, it rather feels like "by the way, ML has got a trauma, so he's not perfect".

I agree, though. Even without ML's character development, the rest of the story was still enjoyable. :)

I fast-forwarded a lot in the last episodes because there wasn't any story left. I also didn't like that they ended up mixing business and private life again, even though they had the perfect chance to become a "private couple". Apart from that, it was a decent watch. I really enjoyed FL's character development.

For the main leads? Yes, there is. :)

Dramas like Squid Game don't surprise me. I remember the Battle Royal hype in the early 2000s. Oh, and Bollywood movies. Everybody watched Bollywood movies for a couple of weeks in the mid 2000s. But the majority of people quickly lost interest in those movies. I also know lots of people who enjoyed "Squid Games" but who told me that they don't like Asian dramas because it was difficult for them to tell the actors apart. Especially sageuk are a big problem because the whole court sports the same hairstyle, beard and similar clothes. A face such as Kwon Hae-hyo's is really helpful.

I read a couple of years ago that Kdramas seem to be more popular outside Asia than other Asian dramas because unlike other Asian countries, Korea tries to cater to an international audience. Last year or so, I cringed so hard because I stumbled over a Netflix(?) drama where some white US-American girl got some Korean boyfriend. I ran so fast that I forgot to check if it was a real series or a joke.

I think "Oh My Venus" would be very offensive in the West because, thanks to HAES and the increasing obesity crisis, a significant number of non-Asian viewers are overweight or even obese themselves. Unlike in Asia, it is common in the West to feel offended if somebody claims that somebody should lose weight to become healthier. It's immediately "personal". Back in the 90s, when I was a child (in Europe), I knew only one fat kid in my elementary school. His parents were fat too. I felt sad for him because he was such a nice boy and really wanted to play soccers with us but he was constantly out of breath if he ran a few metres. Nowadays, he'd be considered average weight. If "we" watched "Oh My Venus" nowadays, most of us would probably think: Why does this healthy woman even need to lose weight? In a couple of years, she's probably considered "skinny".

Thank you for your recommendation. I watched "My Happy Ending a couple of weeks ago. It was interesting. I've just put "Love Affairs in the Afternoon" on my watchlist. I'm not that into romance dramas, though, unless they are funny or crazy or both. "Secret" was awesome because I loooooooooooooove the enemies to lovers trope. (Unsurprisingly, I was very disappointed in "Love your Enemy".)

I recently installed a tool named "Video Speed Controller". With 2-3x speed, skipping and captions, filler episodes are not a waste of time anymore. ^^
