For one thing, the acting is WAY over the top. Ridiculously over-dramatic.
For another, the mysterious female character's INCESSANT laughing and screaming is a massive turn off.
Third, while two of the characters go in search of food, the other two forget about injuries, forget they're starving, forget about wondering who they are/where they are, forget about wondering why they're stranded in this weird place and suddenly decide to have sex after only knowing each other for less than an hour. THANK GOODNESS they didn't show the NC stuff.
It's just......odd, and off-putting. Like I said, I'll see what Ep 2 looks like and decide from there.
I just finished Ep 1, and I already want to punch Shi Yi, the mouthy, CLUELESS assistant to the female doctor, Xue Ying.
I can't stand characters like her, who can't read a room, constantly interjects useless and annoying commentary into conversations that don't include her, and blurts things out that should not be discussed in front of other people.
I hope she is a VERY, VERY minor character who doesn't appear in many scenes.
It's one of those rare instances when I was very glad they didn't show the NC scene, lol. Yeesh.
I'd rather they didn't - at least for now. There is ZERO connection between any of the 4 guys that would warrant any NC at all between the characters, other than just biological urge to screw the nearest receptacle.
My teen got me into K-pop, I'm slowly introducing her to BLs. We're planning a trip to Korea/Japan/China/Thailand/Indonesia/the…
Yep, my daughter introduced me to K-pop by accident. There was one song she liked, so she showed it to me on YT. Then she pivoted and got into other kinds of music. But I got hooked on K-pop (specifically one particular boy group).
So yeah.....58 yrs old....K-pop fan.....BL fan....Omegaverse fan.....
Judging from her reaction, she's rather mortified by me. LOL. Oh well.
Ep 9 was incredibly painful. I was not ready for that, and I cried more than once. The loss of not one, but three pivotal characters in one episode stunned me.
Incredible acting, too. Especially from Green (who plays Ramphueng). Wow.
I just had this conversation with my high schooler:
Me: "Have you ever heard of the Omegaverse?"
Daughter: (shocked voice) "MOM!!!! You're 58 years old!!! How the hell do YOU know about the Omegaverse?"
Me: "Oh.....I just do. It's interesting. There's a BL I'm watching right now......"
Daughter: (shaken to know her elderly mother is not as uncultured as she thought) "YOU WATCH BL???? Mom, I'm gonna need some time to recover from this. Don't talk to me for the next hour."
While My Secret Vampire is very simple and not groundbreaking in any way, as far as plot (it has a very limited set as well, so far usually focused on scenes inside the house), I am enjoying it so much.
The guys are cute, they're funny, and there's definite chemistry between the actors / their characters.
Sometimes it's nice to watch a series that doesn't have lot of action or heavy emotions that many series seem to focus on, and this one fits that bill perfectly.
It's so annoying when dramas aren't consistent about things.
-----------------------------
Ep 1 -
@39:57 - When Than finds Peem in the warehouse after he was beaten by the thugs, there's blood running down both sides of Peem's face. Then the blood disappears. Then the blood takes turns reappearing and disappearing and then reappearing again from one second to the next. The blood also changes location when it DOES appear, changing from both sides of his face to one side only.
-----------------------------
@25:54 when Peem transfers the 9,500 baht to Than, he reads Than's full name - out loud - for the bank transfer.
Then @30:12, we see that Than used to be a Police Captain, and his full name is seen on the name plate on his desk (and in the subtitles), confirming the name Peem saw and read out loud earlier during the money transfer
Then @44:54, Peem says "You know my name, but I don't know yours." But he DOES know Than's name....because he read it out loud during the money transfer.
JMO, but the two special episodes were better than the actual series. I really enjoyed seeing the growth and evolution of their relationship.
But I also have to admit that I was wrong about the series in an important way. For much of the series, it felt like Sorn was taking real advantage of Jun. I mean. TBF, there were a lot of red flags that can't be denied. So much manipulation and jealous behavior. They had to work through a lot of that in each episode.
But as another commenter pointed out to me, as far as their NC scenes, I didn't give Jun's character enough credit when it came to him making sure his own needs were fulfilled, and how far he was willing to go to do that. Jun was just as much a willing participant in those scenes as Sorn was. He was getting as much as he was giving.
And I also must say that I have never seen another series where the main actors were willing to be so intensely raw in their portrayal of their characters' sexual relationship. They were incredible partners on screen. Their physical and sexual chemistry was very natural, almost as if they were real partners off screen. Who knows. But on screen, they were above and beyond anything I have seen from another paired couple. BY FAR.
I think the two special episodes wrapped things up nicely. It's great that Sorn and Jun communicate much more clearly now, and it was touching to see their tenderness with each other. And their NC scenes continued to be leagues above other BL series couples.

It's an interesting series so far.

And that, I'm honestly not interested in.
But we will see.
And yes, I agree. I think mortifying our kids is a major perk we get for all of the stuff we go through with them and because of them. LOL
I hope the second Ep is better. Otherwise I think I'll end up dropping this series.
