I was not expecting much out of the last ep but I must say yup they really did not deliver at all ๐
Ep 7's drama is so unnecessary that it killed all interests, character growth and climatic buildup (even though minimal). I think the series can do with 4 episodes tbh, first two episodes and ep 5 and 6 were good.
Another drama with huge potential but let down by fillers and random bs. Very sad.
something's definitely not right with Ba U for sure ๐ I thought ep 5 and 6 were good but the last 5 mins of ep 7 at this point is clearly a rage bait lmao. I realise some writers do this in order to keep the viewers engaged and it worked for a cliffhanger but if you keep trying us.. ๐ I get Ba U's struggles but even I cannot defend the boy anymore and he clearly needs some time off. Maybe the series will work better with a time skip with Ha Min successfully publishing the book and a time skip where the leads found out about their longing and story through the book IDK NJKDNEKFJNKFKNDUIEIHIUFNEUINFINI
I think in order to truly enjoy the show, you need to view it in a different perspective. Unlike many other show, the main's relationship is already established, hence many scenes were reminiscent scenes that were actually reasoning to the mains' actions in the present.
I know many are frustrated that they could have just communicated properly but Ji Hun has proved time and time again that he is not the brightest in taking hints. With that being said Ji Hun is not to be blamed as this is just how he is. Ba U expectations of Ji Hun seemed to have taken a toll in his sanity too hence he is trying to create distance to preserve his remaining wit. And Ba U may be more pressured as he don't want his bestie to hate him and do consider that Ba U's feelings were bottled up for many years.
Also, we as viewers get to see what both mains were thinking very clearly, but it is not the case for them. Hence, whilst I get that everyone's frustrations are valid, we need to know that this is the reason why drama exist, even in our real life.
Watching ep 5 and 6 with this lens made me appreciate the drama's point of view more. I like the addition of Ha Min's role as it actually tested the mains' actions. It pushes Ji Hun to be more open to his inner feelings that he may not have realised and it allow Ba U to stop running away from his problems and also give himself a chance in writing a happy story for himself. IMO Ha Min's role is the most crucial part to allow their relationship to move forward without being intrusive.
I thought the first two episodes were solid but ep 3 and 4 were kind of redundant.. I do agree with most people that this would do great as a movie as the story is not compelling enough which is usually hard to do for best friends to lovers troupe. However, this drama is a treat for those who enjoys sweet moments as they really gave us plenty of them!
My feelings are all jumbled up after the last episode. Part of me really like the drama but part of me feel like a lot is missing. I think the main couple have good chemistry and big potential but not much was shown. Chan Yeong got to be the most unlikeable character in a while and Ji Yu is honestly just an uninteresting irrelevant prop after 4 episodes. Their scenes are always a snooze fest, nothing new nothing interesting and does not contribute to any good storyline. Heesu's family dynamic shows the various slice of life but with the main couple having already limited screen time I am not sure if I want to get to know their characters as well. Nonetheless, I still prefer watching his family than the 'second' couple any day. For Heesu x SeungWon, the writers seems to like to test the patience of their viewers, like when we thought something fruitful is gonna happen, some random interruption or miscommunication will get in the way destroying any climatic buildup.
Overall rating is a 7 and that's a bit of a stretch. Off to read the manhwa~
Rant incomingโฆ.I maintain that the โSummerโ and tennis storylines are both aggressively uninteresting. Like…
I agree. I think the writers really thought they hit it right out of the park with their second couple looking at how much production materials is needed to shoot the scenes of their ambitions.
Little did they know we really could not care less about the bland story of another straight couple. The writers can say Heesu's name is literally in the title and hence he is the lead till the cows come home but let's be honest, there are 4 leads competing for screentime.
I understand if you don't like the drama's story after reading the original webtoon, but...As someone who has…
I think the main concern is because an original webtoon is exist hence it is upsetting for people. Plus the erasure of other LGBT representations present in the source material is kind of insulting in a way because our community has been through this countless of times, not in fiction but in real life.
If the series is its own original story, so be it. But since it is piggybacking off of a successful queer webtoon, they must uphold a responsibility.
When I say the visuals of these 4 are impeccable.........!!!!
On a more serious note main couple has the most random situations thrown at them. It is like the writers say GIVE THEM HELL and let's see how they work things out. A complete and utter mess.
ep 7 is a treat because we are finally seeing some progress haha
on a side note the song that is playing in the background "breakaway~ I am here, with you~" I always thought that "breakaway~ I am here, to stay~" would be a better lyric ๐๐๐
