This drama just blew me away. If you're hesitating because the high rating seems hard to believe or haven't had much luck finishing cdramas, give this a try! This drama was a perfect portrayal of the struggles of youth, self-image/esteem, friendships, career choices, life choices and of course the romance! All 5 friends had their roles to play and were very well developed characters with their own struggles. What I liked about this drama is that you could relate to each of the characters in their own way. The camcorder recorded outros capturing snippets of SZZ's life and the quotes were truly beautiful. The relationship between Grandma and Guan Fuang brought tears to my eyes.
The best part was the wholesome, icing on cake happy ending which had everything you'd want from a happy ending tied neatly in a bow. The ML's perspective in the end was incredibly satisfying because it showed how much the FL meant to him and how she had changed his life for the better.
The only con of this drama is that it will leave you feeling very single.
Is this like actually good or is it like all the 9+ rated cdramas that disapointed me ?
A must watch and after I finished I realised the rating was not overhyped. Well developed characters, no unnecessary plot lines or misunderstandings, and slice of life youth romance.
I am baffled at how you think they lack chemistry in all the shows I’ve seen I think they have had great chemistry…
To each their own. For me, there wasn't enough engaging interactions between the couple for a proper development of a relationship . They may be dating irl but that doesn't translate to chemistry on set. It could have been the poor plot development that made it a snooze fest. Couples don't have to be intimate for there to be chemistry (sometimes it's evident by the way they look at each other). Here there wasn't enough to keep me invested in the CP. We all have our different tastes and it's ok to disagree with each other.
DNF at 17/40 episodes. This drama started out very interesting and the FL drew sympathy and understanding for her rough upbringing and how she has to scheme to survive. However, the external conflicts failed to capture my interest and the drama became difficult to continue. I love BJT's previous works and especially his role and character in New Life Begins.
Things I didn't enjoy in the drama included lack of chemistry and flat plot and conflicts. To me, their interactions as a married couple were very platonic and this is coming from someone who LOVES slowburns (looks at Story of Ming Lan) but here there wasn't enough interest generated by the plot or the characters to keep me engaged. I found it's a bit unrealistic for the leads to share the same bed and never become intimate for weeks on end acknowledging the FL did become unwell so they couldn't be intimate but that wasn't until much later.
Sad to be dropping this as a BJT fan but alas, we all have different viewing tastes.
This drama took me on such a beautiful ride. From the first encounter, to SZ's developing feelings, a first crush she tried so hard to hide, choosing to walk away and encountering each other again after SZ enters college. Then, DJX admiring SZ, falling for her innocence and the way she defends him and finally, both of them fighting for their love.
I liked that the FL was younger but not weak. She was stronger than the ML in a lot of aspects, always defended him, protected him and wanted the best for him even if it was not by her side. The story became even more enchanting when the ML realised the FL had liked him for a long time and wanted to be by his side. His guilt for not realising her feelings for him and subsequent love confession was so tearful.
An unforgettable, yet simple love story. Thank you to all in producing this masterpiece.
Contrary to the reviews, I found this drama difficult to finish and struggled to care about what happened to the characters. Min Ho's robotic acting left a lot to be desired and there was virtually no chemistry with Joo Ah. The other actors did relatively well but their characters were bland in the end. As a watcher of romance (in any form), I found this to be an average drama.
Sadly dropped this drama. I found the male lead's acting to be too stiff and certain emotions he displayed didn't fit the scene. He was well casted because you can see someone with his physique being a fireman. I did enjoy the female lead's acting and would love to watch her in other dramas. Unfortunately, the slow burn romance and lack of conflict was not interesting enough to keep me engaged for 36 episodes. This is coming from someone who loves a slowburn romance. Dropped at roughly 21/36 episodes.
