Did anyone catch or figured out why they want to shut down Ganglin Base?
My best guess right now is that Min Gu sucked up to Lieutenant, because he had power as Seok Ho said. Lieutenant scams outposts because he wants to pocket money via paper company and delivering cheap products. And they want to close down Ganglin, because they are first ones to notice and take action. I guess Major Im knew about it and they got rid of him or they framed him when he noticed. Does anyone have different theory?
Just finished episode 3 and loving the show. I need to vent though. In what world does a teacher get killed by…
It is about hiding crimes really. At first it was about using violence as a solution. Then the narrative switched to "ERPB was only revange project of two men who wanted to punish students for death of their loved one". Up to this point it was mostly about just getting brownie points. When they started to investigate the teacher the narrative of the opposition switched to "now they go for high-profile teacher to distract citizens from previous narrative, even though he is innocent". In manhwa it is handed using prosecutor, who is cut out from show (I just finished 5th episode so he might appear). The conclusion at the moment is that very important people wanted to stop ERPB, because they were committing education fraud with their children.
And what is he supposed to do after demolishing the crown? Become a matrimonial husband like someone else? Will…
I literally thought during this episode "Ok, you establish democracy and what? Your whole fortune goes to the state? What are you going to do with your life? What about the young king?" Btw. someone last week said that maybe PM wants to destroy royal family to establish democracy to surpass his father, The Greatest PM of this country, and now we have him trying to do what? Establish dictatorship? And IAN becoming hero by establishing democracy? I don't get what is PM's plan at all.
aww i don't know why people are disliking this drama! it is a sweet simple drama for the start of summer, i'm…
I'm in the camp that doesn't enjoy this drama. I watch it to appreciate better productions more. There are few reasons, but it depends on person's tolerance to certain aspects: 1. Not funny comedy. That's most subjective aspect. Most of the comedy scenes that are supposed to make you laugh just don't work for huge chunk of audience. Some even make me uncomfortable. There are better comedies even currently airing. 2. The drama has a lot of unnecessary filler that ruin pacing. The villagers aren't interesting and don't enhance story in any way, but for some people it might be interesting. 3. Inconsistent FL. She started as someone capable professional, but for some reason once she enters this village she acts like immature, annoying person. Further down the road it gets better, but initial impression got me bad. 4. There are like 2 interesting plot lines that can work. Hea Seok's background story and FL's background story. Maybe also the girl with scars too, but I think it involves ML's story. The problem is that it is watered down with villagers story. 5. In some aspects the events are so nonsensical that even if I try to suspend my disbelief it doesn't work. For example: the traveling time between locations. I said to myself that it might be like 100km one way, but it turns out that it is around 300km from village to Seoul. 6. I am Eastern European and the TV salesman just isn't really respectable job. That bias is on me. In essence I would place in low-tier rom-com and give it 4/10. It might be somewhat ok as second monitor watch, but if you give it your full attention - it falls apart.
I know, I noticed. But he is more often on the farm than in actual office. Now the deal makes him commute between village and Seoul almost daily. If it was around 100km, maybe I would not complain, but even in my country, where you can drive 140 km/h on highway, it would still be pain in the ass, but at least more reasonable than 300km one way.
How the hell is it supposed to work? They had to meet halfway to exchange meds. It looks like around 150km, so basically the village is around 300km from Seoul. In episode 2, ML drove 300km or 3-4 hours to meet FL after one call. And now they are supposed to meet daily. Are they f*king teleporting or what? The time in this drama doesn't make any sense.
Episode 6 was pretty good. I’d say it had a really positive vibe — no one was hating on the male lead today,…
My thoughts about ML's brother. My best guess is that he is depressed, because he feels like he doesn't deserve his daughter and that he has failed her. With episode 6 in mind it is worth watching again the memorial rite scene from episode 2. It feels like what their uncle said is trigger for Jin Man for what has to come. He started a family, but we don't know what really went wrong. Possibly he chose his poetry over money and his wife divorced him or it all comes to the inheritance dispute (we will see actual reason when the time comes). Then he went to actually work, but he was unavailable during critical time and he lost contact with his only daughter. He felt like he fails at every step he takes and gives up. He tries to bottle up everything until memorial rite, when his uncle talks about working hard and providing for family. He snaps on Dong Man, because he is frustrated not on Dong Man, but on his situation. He gave up inheritance without fighting, he probably also gave up marriage without fighting, and he gave up on his daughter without fighting. He hates himself for being conciliatory (I think it is right word) or inert, but is unable to do anything. Later everything burst and he tries to attempt suicide. He is probably the most complicated character in this drama, that might seem illogical at first, but the more you catch the more he looks like the most tragic character in the series.
Why FL demoted ML? because he is good. And she needs someone to find dirt at Vice President (2ML), supposedly…
I'd say there are multiple reasons: 1. She saw full incident on the stairs and noticed that ML has strong moral compass. 2. Team 3 seems to be needed, but is not really good at its job. ML is competent and she decided to give Team 3 someone who will shape it into team on par with the others. She benefits from it as all her teams will be knows as respectable. 3. I think there is yet unrevealed intrigue with Park A Jeong and Jeon Jae Yeol at higher level of management that will be investigated by Team 3. FL knows this (or sets it up) and needs reliable investigator.
I wish I didn't know the real-life case - half the show is basically spoiled at this point. At the very least I might enjoy relation between Kang Tae Ju and Cha Si Yeong.
100% he fell for her when she called him out of how he can practice archery because of his status, but she cannot.…
I'd say that him allowing for other archers to train is more of a scheme than intentional helping FL. I'm not sure if it is what writers intended, but it might have been part of the plan. He allows other archers to train -> archers are stronger competition -> he has less chance of winning. The competition looks more even and he looses by one point instead of intentionally not hitting a target at all (scene with training with future Prime Minister shows that the competition wouldn't be strong enough to beat Prince). She might have been inspiration for the plan; it wasn't done for her. We will see in future episodes if writers will explain that.
I have weird problem with this. It feels like cinematography is kind of too basic for the tone of this drama. What do I mean? I skipped through 1st episode of original Japanese series and I realized how much shots of main couple were more intimate. More close-ups, darker lighting and so on. In here they try to sell relationship between Seol Ah and Woo Seok mostly with dialog between different people (Woo Seok with detective; Seol Ah's colleagues). The shots and music don't convey enough tension between main couple as I thought they would. I recently rewatched Flower of Evil and camerawork is what is missing for me. But overall I like this drama even though they seem to stretch episodes to mark one hour.
the bar lady was not completely out of sight or not suspicious, because they kept a scene when she met Kim yun…
I have different opinion. I lean more towards photographer being a killer. My evidence are: scuba gear in his private studio and his talk about his relationship with Seol Ah being more than friendship or love. And possibly female friend being accomplice. With the auction house owner I think it is that she is involved with Seol Ah's parents accident. I think she probably didn't pay the father for his painting, so he had to get money from the loan shark. And now Seol Ah tries to get her revenge. There is also possibility that Jun Beom killed Yun Ji on impulse and this case is not related to FL's men. I just think that there is too many missing pieces to definitely conclude who the culprit really is.
The point of body in reservoir is either for shock value or symbolism that the detective can be overconfident. I lean towards first interpretation. The body was of a male in his 20s or 30s so it didn't match Sarah's description. It doesn't really mean much, it was just unexpected variable that is not a part of a case.
This show has unique ability to put me into good and bad mood at the same time. 9th episode was much better than previous like 3 episodes. We got some development in U Jin's story. I didn't think that there would be any good reason why he left Tae Hyung like that, but I was wrong. I can see logic behind it. Tae Hyung's response was acceptable and logical from story's perspective, but cliche nevertheless. They should have ended this damn love triangle no later than this episode, but they didn't. I made my mind already about the overall show score this episode and nothing will change it.
