Broke the Curse

I am a One Piece fan and also have also grown up watching some of Mackenyu's movies and shows. When the cast was announced, I had high hopes that the drama would deliver and it did! Zoro, is my favorite characters in One Piece and I hope he would be in the live action. I have to say Mackenyu definitely does plays Roronora Zoro's character well. From his fighting scenes, to his dialogues and even the emotions he plays, is all accurate. I do not think they could have chosen anyone better for the role. The same could be applied to each cast member, Inaki portrays Luffy so well and is such a fun cast, in my opinion. I think he embodies what Luffy represents and what he wants to represent as a pirate captain.

I enjoy how there is more of a serious tone presented in the show. We get to understand each characters story in a more serious light. Some key differences that the show has from the anime is that:

1. Garp is introduced very early on. He is introduced in the beginning of the show, but in the anime he is introduced a lot later one.

2. It is way less comical compared to the anime and falls more on the darker more serious side.

3. In the show Luffy steals the grand line map from Captain Morgain, but in actuality he stole it from Captain Buggy.

4. Luffy see's Zoro's fight at the bar with a Marine and that is how he gets introduced to Zoro. he later meets Zoro officially when Zoro voluntarily surrenders and is tied up to the post. There Luffy unties him and asks him to join his crew. Zoro rejects his offer. In the anime. Luffy first hears about Zoro through the girl who made him the riceballs.

5. Coco village is introduced to the reason why Nami's works for Arlong, but in the anime the villagers never knew why Nami left to work for Arlong. Genzo's fatherly love for Nami's was not shown at all.

Again, there are ofc going to be difference in the live action versus anime because they are trying to tell a 1,071 episode show in 8 episodes. Overall, in my opinion I think it was an amazing watch. I loved the cast/ crew and the acting was stupendous. I think the one thing I noticed is the costumes seemed kind of cheap. But again, my favorite character in the live action series has to, ofc, be Zoro. But, I also like Sanji and Nami a lot! Zoro (Mackenyu) was hot! I couldn't take my eyes off of him! LOL oooookie that is enough of my fangirling! LOL haha Definitely recommend it if you have not seen it yet!

idk what to feel tbh

Honestly, I have watched so many Korean and Chinese dramas that I am used to all the cliches, love triangles and etc that usually happen. I started watching this drama because I knew most of the cast (FL, and ML) from previous dramas they performed in and liked their acting skills.

Overall, this drama was interesting, but at the same time it disappointed me greatly. I thought the idea of the story was interesting, but the way it was executed was poor to me. That is just my opinion though. I thought there could have been a lot more character development for Meng Yan. Like, I said, I understand the drama cliche of the FL falling for the ML lead because she saw him save someone, but in this case I felt like she just fell in love with him way to fast. Like girl, come on, you have not even met the man yet formally. Yes, yes love-at-first-sight is in the description, but still. Watch it and you may see what I mean.

Another character that kind of bothered me was Ke Ming. I can see his love he has for her and indeed he has more scenes with Meng Yan than Mo Bai does, but I felt like his love also became a crazy obsession and stalking. I felt like if he truly loved her, he would have accepted the fact that she did not feel the same way for him, and moved on. I would have not opposed their friendship and I felt like he indeed was a great addition, but I just felt like the writer could have wrote his character better in terms of his love for Meng Yan. All love for Ke Ming though his character is such a caring, sweet and great person, but in terms of his love for Meng Yan I just thought at times he was stalking her.

This brings me to another point that bothered me. I wanted to see more of Meng Yan and Mo Bai's journey together as a couple. From how they originally met, to the end when she recovers from the accident and they reunite. The ending could have been done better. I wanted to see more of the Mo Bai and Meng yan's love story. (now this where I want to see the cliche stuff) I wanted to see him kiss her, hug her, hold her hand, become jealous, support her on her journey in work, and etc. I understand he is an A.I. robot, but I felt like more could have been done to show the love line between Meng Yan and Mo Bai because afterall they have been through a lot of sticky situations. I saw someone write a review on youtube about the series and they stated this: " It would have been cool if Mo Bai hadn't left when her Mom sort of made that assumption, it would have been nice to hear him speak on his love for her instead of just running away as he did throughout the series." I agree with this person whole heartedly. I felt this drama was filled with Mo Bai running away from how he is truly feeling after facing some inner turmoil. Rather than facing it he cont to hurt Meng Yan and just expected her to return to him later as if everything was ok. It was not okay. He clearly broke her heart several times and caused her excruciating pain. He probably felt the same, but if her truly cared and loved her, he should have stayed with her through thick and thin and they could have worked through the problems together. I can say the same for Meng Yan, why was she staying with a man who was constantly hurting her? and even after hurting her and causing her heart to break, she went back to him so easily. Seriously? Like, come on girl have some self love and self respect.

This was an amazing drama overall. As someone who is picky about her drama's this drama caught my interest right away. The story line was interesting and something different from some other drama's I have watched. Although the storyline was good, it did have its downside and upside. I felt like at time there could have been more to the plot...I feel like there were things that were not said and done. I have heard that the book was better than the show. I agree it probably is even though i did not read it. I feel like there somethings that need to be explained in more depth.
The acting was amazing, the cast did an amazing job playing their parts. Dylan Xiong is one of my favorite actors. The main female lead did a great job portraying her character. I felt each emotion that the characters felt in the drama. And that is something I think that is what makes actors and actresses stand out more. Is when they are able to engage their audience and make them feel the emotion hey are feeling. I would love to give you an example but it would spoil the drama.
I enjoyed this drama a lot, but the feeling os missing something in the storyline bothered me a lot. I do also have to say the ending made me very frustrated. It was very abrupt and wished that the director had made the series a few more episode longer to explain the history (you will understand what I mean when you start the drama). But I do recommend the drama for everyone to watch. I do wish for season 2.

Not your typical chinese drama! Is amazing!

This drama has to be one of my all time favorites hands down. It had me hooked from Ep 1 all the way through until the last Ep. I did not ever lose interest. Bai Jing Ting is beautiful. I have seen almost all the dramas he has been in. Sandra Ma is also one of my favorite actresses. I loved he in Love me if you dare. Both are great actors.

The chemistry between the female and male lead is evident. They did a good job portraying their characters. The second male and female leads were also very accurate with portraying their characters. My favorite character had to be the sister. She is so cool and bad ass. I loved the hospital scene. (I wont spoil it for those who have watched it yet) and I love her chemistry with her lover.

It is indeed a very light-hearted and warm drama. The storyline was amazingly written and was not overly dramatized or over written. There was also no fillers. The writer did their research. They were able to tell the story of the male and female leads as well as the other characters without dragging it out. It is not your typical chinese drama in my opinion. You get to understand each character, their struggles and triumphs. I felt all the emotions each character felt and always cheered them on. This is a drama I would definitely watch again and recommend people to watch. Their is a lot to say about this drama, but I will leave it at that. WATCH IT IF YOU CAN!

Hmmmm I have to say this, I did enjoy this drama a lot. I enjoyed it more than the Korean version. But, I do have to say that the plot was dragged out and I wished that there were not as many episodes. It is a very cliché though and I had wished that Shang Cai and Daoming Si had gone through far less problems then they had to go through. After watching them go through problem after problem I started to get annoyed and angry. I was questioning, "can they not enjoy one moment of peace together?" I do have questions remaining as well, "what happened to Daoming Si's dad? (They did mention it briefly) but, the the one thing that bothered me is that they did not go into depth about Daoming Si's dad and what their relationship was and why Daoming Si became so angry after his father had passed.
I do think that there should be at least one episode that explained that.
One more thing that I had wished they had done, and people can either agree or disagree, but I do enjoy Ximen and Xiao You's characters a lot. I enjoyed watching them grow from their struggles and past. I had wished they had done more episodes that focused on them. I do understand Shang Cai and dooming Si are the main characters, but with all their problems it got annoying and it was a nice break to see how Ximen and Xiao You's relationship was developing. Like we saw Meizuo's character go through hardship with love for many episodes. But we did not see a lot for Ximen's until the end. Throughout the drama you just see them flirting, but no moves until later and the scenes we kinda brief to me. So for me when Ximen and Xiao you had a long segment in episodes 44, 45, 46, and 47 it made me happy. Lei's was also explained in a few episodes, but I wished to see more.
The cast hands down all did an amazing job. They all played their characters well. The music was also awesome. Do not get me wrong I did enjoy the drama, but I feel like I enjoyed it because of the actors and actresses, not the plot so much.

Nostalgic Re-watch

I re-watched this recently and I have to say it was nostalgic to watch it again. I watched this for the first time in 2010 and it was my first time watching a Thai movie. My first impression was that it is a good movie.,

After re-watching it I have to say it is a very cute and funny movie, but there are somethings that did bother me now, that I did not notice in 2010 because I was 13 years old then. I think one of my issues with not giving the movie a higher rating is because of their view on beauty.

Nam is such a beautiful girl already, but people disliked because she was to "dark." In Asian culture, girls generally are viewed to be more beautiful if they have "whiter skin." Girls who are tanner, are seen as less beautiful. I do not know why her friend had to bath her in Tumeric? She was already beautiful as is, she just needed braces to keep her teeth straight and glasses to see. She eventually got her braces and contacts, probably. Her tan skin made her different, but beautiful. Some people are born with darker skin colors. There is nothing wrong with that. The perception of having "whiter skin" is what makes you more beautiful in Asian culture make me sick. All people are beautiful no matter the tone of the skin.

With that being said I enjoyed how Shone loved Nam through everything. He liked her since the beginning and always was there for her when needed. He was there from day 1 and admired her since day 1, even before her "self-transformation" to impress him. I liked that he looked beyond looks and liked her for her personality. Personally, I think the cast did amazing job playing their roles.

The only other think I would pick at is the ending. I think that having them meet again on a TV Show with the host having the notebook he made about her was too cheesy. Don't get me wrong, I loved that, and it is assumed, they probably ended up together because he has been waiting for her. In general, the ending felt rushed and cliche, like that would not happen in real life.

I think a better ending would have been, both of them developing successful careers and bumping into each other again randomly when she came back from the US. He is a photographer and she is a fashion designer. He could have met her while he was taking pictures at a fashion show? (This is just an example) To me felt like that would have been a better ending. Is it cliche? Yes, but I feel like it would have been a more natural way for them to be able to see each other again and discuss what happened and how they were feeling after the events by the pool that day.

Outside of those 2 critiques I had about the movie, I have to say I would not sleep on watching this again. I thoroughly enjoyed it then and thoroughly enjoy it now. Again I like how Nam and Shone's love for each other is very pure, innocent and sweet. They always want what is best for each other and the people they care about.

Overall I started watching this drama because I love Jasper Liu and Shen Yue. Both are an amazing actor and actress. It is the classic female lead heroine saves the male lead story-line. Personally, I think it is an okay drama. I have seen the Korean version of this as well. The Korean version I have to admit is better.

I really wished there was more character development for the second male lead (Lu Xian). I wanted to see more of his story and see him working, rather than just pursuing the female lead all the time. I do sympathize with him, but I do agree he could have done better. His acting was not too bad, but needs some work here and there. Though I may check out his other dramas because I did like him.
Jasper Liu did an amazing job. He did well portraying his character as a mysophobic.
Shen Yue was okay in this drama I have to admit I liked her acting in Meteor Garden and A Love so Beautiful a lot more.

I think that the storyline was the same, thought I do wish it could have been a little more developed. I do not think I will be watching this drama again. The other 2 couples did keep me interested in watching. They did a great job portraying their characters.

Wow finally another review. I have reviewed a drama on here for a while now. But here it goes. I will do my best. I started to watch this drama because I saw that the male lead was Bai Jing Ting and Sun Yi. I have not seen another drama with him in it since Rush to the Dead of Summer (was a good drama btw. Very sad, but good). I have seen Sun Yi in many drama before and she always did an amazing job in my opinion. I think that so far the drama is not to bad. I have seen a lot of trailers on youtube for the future episode so I kind of know what will happen.(DW I will not spoil anything for people who have not seen it yet) But overall the drama is okay so far. I think that the plot is good so far, but lets' see how the whole drama plays out. I do wish that in one of the future episodes that they will talk about what exactly happened to her(the female leads) brother. I also wish that the mother will recover. I am going to clarify one thing though... I have read through the comments on this drama and people are saying that they want to drop this drama because there is incest. There is absolutely no incest in this drama at all. The FL (Sun Yi'S Character) and ML (Bai Jing Ting's character) are NOT BLOOD RELATED. He took the place of her brother to help a close family friend out. Which is why I stated that I hope the FL's mother recovers so that she can live in reality and not a dream. I hope that the drama will continue to impress me as it has so far. There is a lot I would like to say, but I want to wait until it ends to give it a true review.
