a cinematographic thriller with an odd pacing

like most of us, i was hooked by the trailer of 'somebody'. i binged it the day of its release. a dark thriller, involving creepy serial killer kim young kwang and an intriguing kang hae lim ? could we ask for more ?

the first episodes were interesting, the impeccable acting and visuals get you very engaged in the story-line. however, after a few episodes, the story arc gets a little dull. a slow paced thriller can be very good when well executed, but in my opinion, the pacing of the scenes in 'somebody' sometimes felt inadequate. some moments lasted too long, and others that we would want to dive deeper into ended abruptly. i also wish they went in more depth into backstories to improve character development. when finishing the drama, i was left with mixed feelings, and wanting to know more.

still, i need to praise all the actor's performances. they are the ones keeping the story compelling from start to finish. kim sum's character is chilling, and yun ho's scenes dreadful ! they really nailed it on their part.

overall, it's an aesthetically pleasing, very well produced (netflix) drama, with flawless acting, so it's still a rather enjoyable watch for anyone into slow thrillers. this drama had a lot of potential, but i feel like the visual quality took over the actual substance and depth of the story.

edit: removed the 'leaving us with many unanswered questions' from the title, as it seemed to confuse people into thinking this drama had an open ending!

a short and cute drama on an unusual theme!

please don't date him was just a short drama i wanted to try out, with a fresh cast and some sweet looking chemistry!

you'll like this if you enjoy A.I (and women in stem!), or just enjoy hot firefighters ahah. the drama was slow at first, but the story gets better pacing towards the middle. it's overall a pretty well made drama, with some cute supporting characters and couples! i liked how it dealed with aspects of privacy/communication in relationships a lot. but we also see a lot of the usual tropes like boy saves the girl, boy gets trapped with girl etcetera,, it's enjoyable nonetheless!

fun, short and sweet, i guess that would sum this drama up!

a brilliant psychological and dystopian thriller

this was a ride!! imawa no kuni no alice's dystopian game universe setting was fascinating, the games gruesomely captivating, and the characters so intriguing. this show will play with your heart, your senses and your logic in the most perfect way!

this is a must watch if you don't mind graphic deaths, and love mind games. the way the episodes are tangled with each other and make up the entire universe the players are stuck in is really mesmerizing. the twists and tangles will keep you on the edge of your seat. the production was fantastic too, some of the shots are out of this world. the sets are stunning in each episode.

the cast is undoubtedly one of the best parts of this show as well. the acting is excellent, and each character's personality traits are superbly portrayed, from madness to vulnerability. i can't wait for season 2 !

poignant, beautiful, inspiring... a masterpiece

mr. sunshine's power and beauty cannot be expressed in words.
this story was perfect from start to finish. chills, tears, smiles and butterflies are guaranteed.

i'll keep it short, this is the real gem you're looking for in kdramas. a must watch.
the cinematography is impeccable, the music heartbreaking, the acting powerful, the story heart wrenching and riveting. every character was so intriguing and deeply developped, which made you very attached to each and everyone of them. from anti heroes like kudo hina and dong mae, to brave patriots like aeshin, all flaws, strengths and weaknesses of the characters were wonderfully portrayed. the episodes had me glued to the screen, the pace was perfect. i would've even watched a 60 episode long mr. sunshine haha !

but most importantly, this is a heavy but crucial story of the fight for independance, which will make you tear up and squeeze your fists. if you haven't watched it already, please do. i'd love experiencing watching mr. sunshine for the first time again,,, so please enjoy !

light and sweet high school romance!

gosh this drama was adorable ! it has everything you expect from a high school drama, the multiple couples, the slight jealousy and misunderstandings, shy confessions and friendship !

jihoon plays a puppy like boyfriend, which suits him a lot! i usually don't enjoy extremely "aegyo-like" behavior from any of the leads, but the way he portrayed gong jooyoung was refreshing and not too cringy to me! jarim was slightly too robotic for me though, but she loosened up at each episode :) the story was okay, a bit predictible, but that's what you want from school dramas hehe

the short episodes were well paced, with new small stories for each of the characters, and it's the perfect length for small breaks during study sessions. the episodes don't have huge cliffhangers, so you enjoy each one like a little sweet chocolate haha >.<

i feel like we have more to know about the supporting characters, and i'll happily watch the second season if it ever comes out :)

a unique and powerful must watch!

well, this was a ride!!

the plot of this drama was really amazing, fresh and exciting, with wonderful actors to portray the roles of complex characters. if you like suspense, interesting storylines, complex relationships and dynamics, touching character development, well this is the drama for you.

this drama knows how to surprise you, make you cry, laugh, and cry again! lee joongi and moon chaewon were perfect in their roles, and all the supporting characters made the story even more enticing to watch. seeing the dilemma jiwon is faced with and the battle heesung is leading was fascinating to watch.

this drama is a must watch at all levels! go give it a try right now :)

great drama if you like slow, poetic dramas, raw emotions and powerful acting!

this drama was a very beautiful experience.

kim minjae and park eunbin did a wonderful job at portraying jooyoung and songha, their chemistry is undeniable, and their acting immaculate! everything in this drama seemed so delicate, fragile, but also strong and sturdy, just like the development of the main leads' relationship. jooyoung and songha having to deal with their own internal struggles, while developing feelings for each other was interesting to watch.

get ready to get attached to the characters very easily, and let me tell you: they know how to tug your heartstrings! the music is beautiful, and the dialogs poetic and raw.

overall, this was a very enjoyable watch, filled with butterflies and teary smiles! i recommend it if you like slow dramas focused on character development and building a relationship!

a heartwarming drama with adorable supporting characters!

i was sceptical about the whole coma plot, but i was pleasantly surprised! woo seo ri's character was perfectly portrayed by shin hye sun, and yang se jong's calm and patient character woo jin were a pleasure to watch!

i really liked how mature and respectful the relationship between the leads are, especially woojin's patience and acceptance towards seori. her character development as she learns to adapt to her age, meet her new family (jessica and chan are the cutest sweethearts ever!!!), and develop feelings to discover what love is was very fun to watch. the main leads interraction are adorable, and their inexperience and carefulness makes it all the more authentic.

however, this drama wasn't phenomenal in any way, the story is classic kdrama (in a good way), and the scenario pretty basic. but this is a very heartwarming and fun watch if you want something enjoyable to binge during the winter or late at night!

a singular and unique story, interpreted by magnificient actors

it's okay to not be okay has to be one of the most unique and well interpreted dramas out there. the story is compelling, discussing important topics such as mental health, and the actors did a fantastic job at displaying the struggles and emotions of these complicated characters. each episode will get you to cry, laugh, shiver and smile.

the direction of the drama is also really unique, the atmosphere is one of a kind. no episode will get you bored. on the contrary, you won't be able to suppress your need to click on "next episode" hahaha! the twists and discoveries, the resentment and the heartache, the brotherhood and the love,,, every emotion is portrayed so powerfully.

oh sung jae's performance as moon sang tae is absolutely mind-blowing, and kim soohyun as well as seo yeji's chemistry and internal struggle was remarkably played.

overall, this drama is really special. it deals with hard topics, and manages to portray the universe of psychiatric hospitals in a non stereotypical way. it's 100% worth the watch, but get the tissues ready!! <3

great performance, interesting suspense, but dragged for too long

i was very excited to watch this drama. i love both actors, i saw that so many recommended this after watching 'just between lovers' which is one of my favorites, and the story seemed pretty intense.

however, it has greatly disappointed me. the chemistry wasn't as good as i hoped it would be, and the story dragged for more episodes than it should've. things were starting to get repetitive halfway through. however, i really liked the side characters, like the brother and adoptive mother, which were very touching to watch. the ml's brother stole the show for me! he was so vulnerable but strong, and loved so passionately. the father also did a wonderful job portraying the madness of a murderer. his performance was impeccable, always managed to make you have chills down your spine every time he's on screen !

if you have time on your hands, and just want something to pass time with thrilling scenes, go for it!

cute until the ending

i was really excited about this drama, a fun romcom, finally staring lee jae wook (whom i absolutely adored in both www and extraordinary you), filled with classical music and an adorable go ah ra.

the drama started well, really cute and simple, a nice buildup, and good chemistry between the leads. also touching support characters that made the drama all the more enticing to watch. unfortunately, it all went down after episode 13.

the ending was very ambiguous, to say the least. if you want to watch it, please stop at episode 13, and this drama will finish on a beautiful note!!

very cliché but well produced high school love story

the story was nothing amazing, it's the usual love triangle, evil friend, bullying scenario. but that wouldn't be such a problem if the strong message about self love and acceptance they strived to spread was conveyed in the right way !

i think true beauty completely missed the mark on that. the subplot about jukyung's journey to accepting herself and her appearance, as well as getting empowered was totally hidden by the love triangle and futile fights. i wish they empasized this a lot more,, the arguments that were supposed to show jukyung's path to having a good self esteem were not compelling enough, kind of sloppy and misleading. moreover, the sad second lead trope was pushed too far, making seojun feel very miserable. and do not let me start on the lousy last episodes,,,

but true beauty also has good sides, it's really well produced, the sets and colors were very pleasing to the eye, the actors did a great job. the supporting actors were adorable too. i really enjoyed the side loveline which was extremely refreshing !

if you want a sweet, cliché, high school love triangle (bad boy + intelligent leads), this will be perfect for you! but do not expect a lot of depth and strong messages!

a character depth focused and heartwarming drama!

i'll admit it. i mostly watched because of the cast! but i really wasn't disappointed!

i was never a fan of medical dramas, but this one turned me into one :) it had all a good drama needed: a great plot, touching characters, very interesting character development, adorable chemistry, and realistic scenes.

all the supporting characters had a lot of depth, their own struggles and stories, which i found very compelling!
and of course, the 2 main characters did a wonderful job, and you could feel their great chemistry :") their romantic scenes were particularly intense emotionally as we see them grow closer and closer, sometimes taking a step back or a step foward each other in a very realistic and sweet way.

the only drawback would be the villains, that don't add much to the story in my opinion, outside of annoying us haha!
overall this is a wonderful drama, especially if you're not that into medical dramas, i assure you you'll get into them afterwards!
