Subtitles Are SO Bad

The subtitles are ridiculously bad. I mean, really REALLY bad. The acting is also pretty flat all around. I had zero buy-in with the MLs because they have no chemistry at all. Not even a redeemable hint of chemistry from the first meeting to the present. Also, there are inconsistencies throughout that should have been caught in the scriptwriting. For example, blood where blood shouldn’t be and absent where it should be; bruising absent when there should be; a 7-year flashback that doesn’t add up, etc…

Really, the whole first episode was a mess. Dropped.

Um

I love ZeeNew so I hoped for a good movie. Sometimes movies do well, but often not. In this case, more time to develop the plot and deepen character development was needed. It felt rushed, especially the romance. I don’t like you- Oh wait! Is that a birthmark? I remember you from a brief one-time childhood encounter. I love you now. *sigh*

And why is Rawee always getting hurt? I thought the binding of destinies was supposed to protect them? Seems like it didn’t do anything but make Rawee a target of misfortune. ?

Side couple was unnecessary. If I were as rude as that servant, I would be fired. They just let it slide. Over and over again.

Also, the possessed scene by the river- how convenient that all the elders were present to talk dear old grandma off the ledge… Random show up that made literally no sense other than limited runtime for the storyline.

What was good? The creep factor of the ghost granny. I don’t do scary ghost stories so may be easily influenced but I felt the makeup artists and the sound effects accompanying the ghost’s presence were enough to get me going “nopety nope nope” every time. Especially when she was standing in Rawee’s chest, slowly suffocating him to death. Um, Zee come save your boy! Also, ZeeNew are always so cute together?.

Overall, it’s a no for rewatch-ability for me.

So So Good! I Slept Too Long On This

I am appalled that I slept on this show for so long. It is by far one of the best kdramas I’ve seen. Period. The acting of each was by far so convincing it had me immediately siding with Park Ji-hoon, who is my absolute faborite character. His character growth was as flawless as the innate traits that made Si-eun who he was. I rooted for him all the way- he could do no wrong in my mind. And Choi Hyun-Wook as Su-ho…he’s the good guy who takes no shit effortlessly that I love so much. His influence on Si-eun is nothing but positive, and the relationship they have is like best friend brothers. (My BL heart had a few moments there though…you can’t really blame me for the fleeting ship I repeatedly sent back to dock…especially since I did send it back to dock successfully in the end).

I wanted revenge just like Si-eun. Hong Kyung as Beom-seok showed such a range of character…I applaud this actor for going from victim to villain/victim so well. I can’t like Beom-seok, but can’t hate him either. His father is the true villain in my book. Reall, all the adults-where tf where they?! I mean, really? And Kim Su-gyeom as Yeong-bin…he’s such a cute irl but his character? I was glad for every single punch he received. The “I don’t care” from Si-eun came from me, too!

I can’t wait for Season 2…I know Si-eun is gonna make waves where ever he is and I’m here for it.

The only thing that was frustrating was that I could watch episodes 1-7 on YouTube but I had to do a crazy and slightly desperate search for Episode 8, which I found in Dailymotion. (The relief was REAL.) But that’s mild.

I’ll be eagerly awaiting the release date for S2 this year…hopefully sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, I’m off to watch more shows with Park Ji-hoon because I’m a new fan.

Wish I had seen it sooner…

I love this series. The casting and production was top tier, really. I loved the chemistry between the main leads and the dramatic feeling of melancholy that overshadowed the love story.

My only issue is the ending.

***SPOILER***

Yai suddenly shows up and remembers Jom. This is so confusing to me because how does he remember if he supposedly died and isn’t a ghost or time traveler himself? We can infer that Yai was the one to request Jom specifically for the renovation of the small house, but HOW does he know/remember him? He’s the one in the past and Jom is the one who time traveled and is supposed to have retained his memories of that time. Yai and Jom are enjoying their reunion, the background of the house interior is shown to be renovated/restored, then they slipped in him traveling back even further to meet warrior Yai- who doesn’t know who he is…yet?! Why? How? When? My brain…

I know it can either move forward with a season 2 or wrap up how Warrior Yai came to him in the river to save him before he time traveled. But still. Poor Jom can’t catch a break and enjoy loving and being loved frfr.

In any event, this series took me a while to watch. I kept it in my queue for far too long, with frivolous BLs taking up space in my brain, and I regret not watching it sooner. I hope they make another season to explain my lingering questions. With the likely production costs and no cringeworthy product placements I have come to expect in Thai BL dramas, it may take a bit, but I can still hope for a 2024 or 2025 release, can’t I? A girl can dream.

When “Sunny” takes on new meaning…??

I really enjoy this series. Japanese BL dramas hit different. On the surface they are often comical with the anime-like expressions and inner dialogues, but the depth of the characters in these dramas sucks you in before you know it. I love Yoh so much. He’ frustratingly adorable and clueless. Segasaki is the type of needy controller you wouldn’t mind dealing with…Especially those little smirks he gives.

Sometimes directors/writers put in too many flashbacks, but the ones added here really did give context to their initially confusing relationship.

I love the supporting bestie, Kanami. She offered just the right amount of support to both Yoh and the story. my fave scene is when she discovers who Yoh’s boyfriend is and Yoh gets drunk- Yoh drunk is the best. He’s so baby-core, all sulky and refreshingly honest about his feelings.

The kissing/bed scenes were done well, too (the first and last episode live in my head rent free). I had the appropriate amount of stomach drops and butterfly swarms to reel me in. ?? The main leads have great on-screen chemistry. ?I hope I get to see them paired in future works.

Even though I’ve rewatched this series so many times, the feelings remain. I wish they’d do a second series.

Sad but you know it’s coming…

I knew I shouldn’t have watched this so soon after this week’s episodes from Pit Babe, Last Twilight, and the Sign… seriously.

It was good and the story and acting kept me watching, even though the ending was going to be bittersweet because it couldn’t last. Some people mention how some parts where the ghosts interacted with the real world didn’t make sense but I understand it as the focus being on the unfinished business and the relationships than the semantics of afterlife interactions with the living.

There was character development and growth, love and closure.

The only part that made me go huh is the very last part where Peach is standing in the closed cafe and Yoon Oh’s bracelet drops then the kettle steams… I thought he was supposed to have moved on. Was it one last message of comfort and goodbye from him to Peach?

In any event, I enjoyed it. It’s sad in many ways so the likelihood of me rewatching is low which is why I rated that part lower. Who wants to be purposefully sad?

Lovely BL to Rewatch

In short, I ? the story, acting, and settings so much. I love TakaraAmagi! I hope we get a season 2… I rewatch this just like I rewatch Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss, My Beautiful Man (especially Eternal), and My Personal Weatherman (something endearing about Japanese BLs). But this is my #1??. Amagi is cute and so much fun to watch. He is so endearing to me. And Takara is a handsome green flag all the way. I love Katori and Tanaka as supports— they really add to the story. I want to see a season 2 where the two are in university or in jobs and still together and learning how to be in a relationship together. ??? I hope the producers decide to gift us with Season 2…and maybe 3? ????
