They could have found a way around the reborn trope but the novel was long with battles and many plots and turns. It’d be impossible to make it in 40 episodes and the costs would be quite high.

In the novel, Ye Li was fine marrying Xiu Yao as she was aspiring to live a quiet life. Because of the Mo army, yes, the Emperor feared Xiu Yao but ever since he had been badly injured in battle, he was less of a threat.
