The law’s got a face... but It’s hiding!
Faceless / Shotai is a suspenseful crime drama that highlights just how flawed and corrupted the justice system can be and how it affects the innocent. It's a story of Kaburagi who is wrongly accused of murder and has escaped prison, becoming a fugitive. Throughout his journey he meets several people, each with a new identity, to find answers on his own when the system fails him, earning the trust from all of them.
Faceless was an appropriate english title for this. The disguises he adopts definitely serves the practical purpose in hiding his identity, but they also symbolize the psychological pressure to forced to exist as anyone but himself.
There is an eerie tension surrounding everyone, whether it’s the suspect or those investigating them.
The background score was really on point, adding a lot to the suspense without being too extra. It totally helped build the vibe and kept things tense in the best way.
The only issue for me was the pacing. The first half felt extremely slow compared to the climatic second half. They were trying to paint a picture in the first half, but it could be expedited a bit. And maybe they could have provided more context about Kaburagi and his background to help connect more with him as a character.
The acting across the board looked solid with everyone fitting perfectly into their roles. No one seemed out of place or unsynchronized. Yokohama Ryusei particularly stood out in the emotional scenes.
Overall, this was a good movie that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end, questioning some serious flaws on how law works and serious consequences of turning a blind eye.
Note: I have neither read the novel nor seen the series, so this review is based solely on the movie, without any prior background.

De-Railed Revenge : A Binge Worthy Melodrama
Perfect Marriage Revenge is an entertaining blend of makjang drama and revenge that follows the journey of Han Yi Joo, who grapples with familial betrayal and seeks to alter her life when a second chance is given to her.The drama starts strong with an engaging premise and believable chemistry between the leads. However, as the series progresses it begins to lose its initial spark. The focus shifts increasingly to all the antagonists. While their stories and perspectives did add tension and drama, the main lead's interactions felt a bit sparse. Yes, the motivation for the villain's actions did add more depth to the story, but I was frustrated with the wasted potential when the dynamics between the leads were strong and it was just sidelined.
The second half of the story felt very repetitive. The revenge plot, which felt compelling initially, seems to resolve 'too easily' as major conflicts are either sidestepped or wrapped up quickly. While the chemistry between the leads is heartwarming, it felt very fragmentary. I wish they would have focused more on 'her revenge' rather than her being one of the side characters in other people's drama.
Acting-wise, all the actors did believable jobs, but the antagonists often outshone the leads for me. However, there were a few moments like slapping unnecessarily and throwing drinks at each other (Lol!), that reminded me of the chaos which is expected from makjang dramas. xD A whole new level of melodrama!
Despite the issues, the drama wraps up satisfactorily. The idea that true fulfilment comes from personal happiness rather than vengeance was beautiful. Yi Joo finally having a loving family was the perfect end!
Overall, this was a very entertaining watch for me. Though it has flaws, it's a binge-able choice if you enjoy melodrama and over-the-top chaos.
7.8/10

A river that whispered depth, but politely kept me afloat!
This drama had a beautiful idea. The Gyeonggang River, which was once pure, now thick with silt and sorrow, is a reflection of a nation sinking under corruption and decay. On paper, they got everything right. The whole premise had beautiful imagery-a river that mirrors its people, a mirror that refuses to flatter. Yet in the execution, all the ambition and artistry become too heavy to carry. Somehow, the weight of the premise is what sank this ship.At its core, we have Siyul, Choi Eun and Jeong Cheon, each with their own demons to deal with. Siyul is caught between the guilt and survival of his brutal past and trapped in a cycle of choices that blur between justice and vengeance. Opposite him stands Choi Eun, the merchant whose integrity becomes her curse. I liked how she refused to let the corrupt system dictate her but I feel the writing didn't do her justice at all. The lack of screen time just made her seem like a haughty noblewoman but we see glimpses of so much from her towards the end. Somewhere in the middle stands Jeong-cheon, the official who dreams of power without corruption, a dream that steadily unravels.
The three are meant to represent different moral shores of the same river but the current never quite pulls them together. The 3 leads somehow felt like supporting characters in their own story. The first three episodes did a great job at setting up the story but the middle four (4-7) kind of lost their way. We wasted too much time on Mu Deok's story in the middle. I get they wanted us to show why he is here, but it could have been shortened and utilised to make the present plot better. The drama was about the 3 leads but somehow became "Mudeok's show".
Again, the idea of moral decay, corruption of people sitting at the top came through, but a bit heavy-handed and very convenient. Arrests and deaths happened too easily without letting the subplot fully bloom.
Too many characters felt underdeveloped as they simultaneously opened too many threads at the setup. By the time we were moving somewhere, it was already time to wrap up.
However, not everything was lost. The performances and acting across the board were solid. Roowan dominated the drama with his excellent acting performance. This is the first time I am seeing him in a non-polished, raw role. Seo Ham also looked very different here, and while the script didn't offer him much, he still left quite a good impression on me. With Ye Eun, the lack of screentime makes it harder to review her performance, but with what was given to her, she did well. The supporting cast had some good seasoned actors and no one disappointed.
Another thing I enjoyed was the bond between the bandits. I won't lie, I despised them at the start and was annoyed by their very presence, but they grew on me and on Siyul. They provided the comedic relief and brotherhood. It was like a mini break of happiness amidst the bleak and tragic premise.
Visually, the drama aced the setup. The outdoor locations, the grainy texture, the constant haze of dust and water...all of it feels lived in. It captures a world that’s both dying and alive, heavy with the smell of labour and loss. But sometimes the set-up was draining. I don't say it in a bad way, but on the front, it was too realistic.
Overall, Murky Stream definitely dared to ask uncomfortable questions about power, corruption and limits of conscience but somehow failed to answer them on the screen. I expected a deep dive into those murky waters, exploring the characters in that morally grey light, but I was never allowed to swim deeper. This quickly escalated into the case of over-ambitiousness.
Will I recommend it? No, I guess. The weekly experience was draining. But maybe binge-watching it can offer a different perspective.
Thank you for reading my review! <3 I hope you enjoy this drama more than I.

Was hoping for a full course feast, was only served starters!
Sugar Dog Life feels like a comforting bowl of porridge - light, stress-free and easy to digest. However, like porridge, it lacks depth and excitement, leaving you wanting something more flavorful. The story was enjoyable but it only skimmed through the surface without exploring the characters. To me, this felt more like a one-sided love story. While Isumi clearly carries romantic feelings for Amasawa, we don't get Amasawa's POV till the very end. It felt like he treated Isumi as a friend rather than a lover or a partner. Their interactions felt very platonic. I am all here for a good slow burn but feelings should simmer on both the sides. It was frustrating at times.
I wanted a full-course meal to know more about the characters and their intentions but instead, I was served starters which left me craving for more. Both Isumi and Amasawa's characters hinted at complex flavours with fragmented glimpses of their backstories but ultimately couldn't make it to the table.
Despite this, it skips all the heavy drama to keep the narrative light and feel-good. The lead actor's performances are what carried the drama. It felt very authentic. Isumi's friends as supporting characters were such a delight. I enjoyed their warm camaraderie.
Overall, the pacing was a bit uneven here and there, and the romance felt undercooked, but I would still recommend this if you are looking for something simple and full of gentle moments and of course food.

The mighty rise, the ruthless middle and the underwhelming fall !
This is one of those dramas that walks into your life, kicks the door open with an insane amount of flair and then tests every bit of patience you have in you. Once in a while, in drama land, we meet characters like Ah Jin, the femme fatale. What frustrated me here was that her deranged, iconic journey was thrilling to watch, yet the downfall she faced barely scratched the surface of what she deserved.Let's start with Ah Jin. She has razor-sharp intelligence, survival instincts honed by manipulation and borderline cruelty and a personality carved out of neglect and trashy parenting. The drama tells us from the start that she doesn't have or feel emotions from the very first scene when little Ah Jin climbs that staircase in that rain soaked scene. Every episode peeled a layer of her and every layer was worse and shocking than the last.
I made my peace that she isn't your typical damsel in distress FL but she is the reason everyone else is distressed and I am weirdly okay with that. I have issues with how the writing went in the second half. They wanted her to be everything. From a tragic figure to a ruthless mastermind and also a victim but a perpetrator too.
I agree that all the adults in her life failed her by a big margin, and her dad had it coming, and she was able to get my narrative sympathy because of that, until there weren't outsiders involved who had nothing to do with her trauma. Acknowledging her backstory doesn't make her actions neutral. Her actions were just a trauma response or self-defence. She manipulates, calculates and then strikes. Indifference to one's emotions doesn't make anyone morally superior to malice. They both are equally dangerous.
The real flaw wasn’t that she lacked guilt or remorse because we are shown she is foreign to those emotions but the fact that even story never created an atmosphere where accountability truly existed was a bummer. No one I repeat no one...not the adults or not the system or not even the narrative tone, stepped up to challenge her choices. That missing pressure made the entire world around her feel oddly weightless and very convenient. It took the edge off for me.
Coming to the second half, where I was waiting for her downfall, damn it was disappointing. When it was her turn to reap what she sowed, I felt the universe was biased because the writing acted like society was the one being unreasonable. Initially, the flag of methodical psychotic chaos waved right over her head, and suddenly everyone bends itself into pretzels to validate her perspective?
I can go on and on about her writing 100 when she got 10, excluding her father, but moving on...
Ah Jin's biggest victims were Jae Oh and Jun Seo, the Mercury and Venus orbiting her blazing sun. A perfect example of how different kinds of brokennes attract the same sun.
Jun Seo was someone who mistakenly misunderstood devotion as the purpose of his life and destruction as destiny. We get to see his moments of conflict, where we know who Ah Jin is and what she is capable of but chooses to be blind when it comes to her. I am not surprised by his character arc in the latter half as I predicted it.
Out of all her pieces, Jae Oh's dedication was the only one whose kindness feels unmanufactured. He had a soft side to him and I feel he was one of the two who brought Ah Jin's soft side out even though it was for a second or maybe I over-analysed the scene.
Ah Jin's greatest strength is how well she knows people around her and her weakness is that she doesn't value them a bit. I do feel a little sad for the boys but it wasn't something that was unexpected. They knew it! We knew it!
Also, this was Ah Jin's world and somehow everyone just accommodated according to her wishes and plans. Sometimes by how she hatches a plan and manipulated them and sometimes because it had to that way because writing.
That said, the performance by everyone was outstanding. Especially Kim Yoo Jung. That dead-eyed stare with that smile is iconic! The shift between vulnerability and menace was done so consistently well. The child actor who played Ah-Jin was another gem. Kim Young Dae as Jun Seo was another hit. His cold demeanour and that nonchalance did the work here. Kim Do Hoon as Jae Oh was a fitting find too. We had some star-studded guest performances too.
The cinematography and production just elevated the drama. The shots were intentional and very poetically presented. Though the editing in the later half seemed a bit choppy but it is very ignorable. Money was spent on sets and costumes and it showed.
Overall, while the first half charmed me left and right, the second half was underwhelming or maybe I had a different kind of expectations. The ending didn't sit right with me plus the lack of narrative justice disappointed me.
Still, it was one of a kind ride. Messy, chaotic and addictive to an extent.
Will I recommend it? Depends on if you enjoy characters like Ah Jin and don't mind heavy dramas.
Everything said, I have to acknowledge that every character here, especially Ah Jin is open to multiple interpretations and maybe all of them are neither black nor white. I can see why someone would rate this drama high but also low ratings are as justified as the high ones.

A very wholesome and soft love story!
The drama followed Natsumi, who suddenly found herself in an arranged marriage with Takimasa Ebata, an officer in the imperial navy. What unfolded after that was a quiet, slow-burn romance that was both heartwarming and realistic considering the time the story was set in.The drama was set against a very traditional, pre-war backdrop, which gave their interactions a kind of that old-school charm. But what really sold me was how emotionally healthy their relationship became. There was mutual respect, affection and honest communication.
At first, Takimasa came off as emotionally distant and hard to read, a classic reserved man but through small moments and genuine effort, the two started to build a connection that felt so honest and adorable.
The romance was soft, thoughtful and at times adorably awkward. They shared such a natural chemistry, full of sweet moments and the occasional dorky laugh.
Even the inner monologues, which usually signaled "misunderstanding trope incoming" in many J-dramas were used very well here. They actually gave a deeper look into how both leads were feeling rather than dragging the story with forced conflict.
I find it rare to find a drama that felt this sincere, especially when set in such a formal and emotionally reserved era. But somehow, this one managed to balance its historical context with warmth, humor, and just the right amount of romance.
The second couple were very different from the main couple. They were your classic "enemies to lovers" trope but they grew on me. The banter, the realisations...Their love story was as adorable as the leads. I wouldn't mind a spin off for them.
Acting-wise, I think everyone did a solid job. I have watched enough J-dramas by now that their sometimes over-the-top expressions don’t really bother me that much anymore. It just feels like part of the charm.
The costumes and cinematography was pretty and I really liked the narration style here.
Overall, this drama became my go-to comfort watch. I started this for Honda Kyoya, but stayed for everyone and everything. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys love stories with minimal angst.

Finally a good action romance drama!!
I watched this drama as a part of recommendation challenge and I literally have to thank them for introducing me to this.To outline the drama it was an absolutely wonderful and interesting watch.
There was a bit of everything for me that worked here - action, romance with both strong male and female lead and a bit of suspense and drama. The story kept me intrigued and invested till the very end. Each and every detail or clues in every episode somehow made sense at the end. I couldn't find any story loopholes. Tbh story isn't very unique but it is put together to almost perfection. You would really have to nitpick (which I am not gonna do :D)
The acting by all the cast members were perfect! The romance arc between the ML and FL is simply beautiful. The chemistry between them is FIRE! No nonsense! Just 2 adults trying their best to be together and handle things maturely. The OST was decent too.
All is all , a great watch!

Not my cup of tea!!
So contrary of popular opinion, personally I did not like the drama. I watched it after falling into your smile because of the same gaming - romance genre but I was disappointed.Story wise it lacked character development of the male lead. Like at one point it kinda became frustrating. The gaming sequence was also tad bit boring and tbh I just skipped most part.
The main problem for me here was chemistry between leads , was just too forgettable and felt forced.
The OST was nice though.
Honestly this wasn't my cup of tea but again I would understand if anyone else loved it. :))

Cute as a peach, lacking the pit!
The premise of this drama is straightforward as it gets. Yoo Doha is a sweet, awkward young man who has somehow navigated his entire life without a single romantic experience and is suddenly thrown into a love square with 3 different men.Have we seen this before? Yes. *Coughs secret relationships* Is it reinventing the wheel? No. So what does it do? It decides to bedazzle the wheel with peach colored fluff and aggressive cutesiness. And to be fair, for the first few episodes, it kind of works and then just gets very predictable.
The plot never pretends to be complex, which is fine but it also forgets to be tight. Don't get me wrong, the characters are adorable but deeply underwritten. Doha, our protagonist, is cute in the "someone protect him from literally everything" way. But he is painfully underdeveloped or has a personality that evolves. If I have to define his personality, it would revolve around being startled or confused or mildly flustered. It's sweet initially and then I started wishing he would develop at least one additional trait. I just couldn't understand why he would trigger a romantic hunger games between 3 men.
Coming to the 3 love rivals, none of them has a functioning sense of boundaries.
Team Leader Jeon: The cold yet caring, strict boss whose personality flips for Doha. Lovely idea because who doesn't love a tsundere lead, but the bond isn't developed enough or shown to us on screen that I would believe he would risk his professional integrity going out of the way to play protector. He was definitely my favourite from the lot but I felt the writing didn’t give us enough build-up to fully showcase him.
Yeon HaRam: Our resident flirt. Till the end, I didn't understand him or why he did. I didn't feel any chemistry between him and Doha. He was definitely charming in a brooding way (if it makes sense lol). He has the same problem as the rest. The writing gave his sparkles but not enough foundation.
Taek Gyeon: Flag bearer of friends-to-lovers trope. We see most of him, and it’s no surprise I ended up rooting for him. Since they share a history together, somehow his feelings made more sense logically and we got enough context in comparison with the other 2 suitors. Though I am not too impressed with his courting ways, out of all the peaches, I would pick him. He and Doha were really cute together and that's about it.
Honestly, the love rivals had better personalities, in my humble opinion when compared to Doha. Each of them brought something distinct to the story and Doha often felt flatter. The chemistry works in moments, but never settles into something truly satisfying. It's like the drama casted three attractive leads and hoped their combined good looks would distract you from the fact that no one here has any real character growth.
That said it somehow works as a good romcom. There were some heart-fluttering moments, but it plays too safe that nothing stands out. Nothing is unwatchable, but nothing is memorable either.
Visually, the drama is pretty with soft lighting, calm colour palettes, the whole “gentle K-romcom glow.”
Coming to the acting, Jung Su Bin as Yoo Doha was not that impressive for me. I don't know if it was the "deer caught in the headlights" character or the writing or the acting itself, but it failed to leave an impression on me. The remaining 3 leads were fine. Again nothing to run home about, but also not bad.
Overall, it’s cute, yes.
It’s entertaining, yes.
Does it deliver anything new to the BL landscape? Not really.
Does it reach the emotional depth or any? Sadly no.
I would recommend this only if you go in expecting a fluffy distraction rather than a fully fleshed-out romance. This drama sit on the shelf of "dramas I liked but didn't loved".
Was this review helpful to you?
Forget the actual plot and watch it for the fluffy "plot"!
7.75/10 (That awkward in-between score where you kind of love it but also know this isn't life changing )The cheat code to enjoy this drama is not to expect much. It isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, and you get the idea early on. It sticks to its lane..light, a bit fluffy and breezy to watch. It's easy on the eyes, with good chemistry between the leads, comedy that isn't cringey, although it had slightly uneven pacing and not enough angst.
The premise is simple yet fun. Na Aejoon, a fanboy, suddenly finds himself working alongside his idol, the charming Choi Si Yeol. The twist is that Na Aejoon keeps his fanboy status a secret, while Si Yeol has his own mysterious agenda for getting close to him.
Their chemistry is not smooth or effortlessly romantic. It is awkward and adorable. The height difference is just the cherry on the cake. Sometimes they did act like cringey clichés, but it kind of makes you smile rather than suffer. The visuals, their silly banter overall maintain that feel good vibe.
Now, coming to the biggest issue I had with this drama was Si Yeol’s character. It felt like a wasted potential. For most of the drama, he is playing the long game with his little revenge mission, which means his actual feelings don’t come into play until way too late. By the time the truth comes out, there is barely any space left for him to properly redeem himself.
I would have rather liked it if they had given him a lot more inner conflict earlier on. It would have given the drama enough and much-needed angst. The guilt, the hesitation, the tiny moments of self-doubt...we didn't get to see this.
As for the second couple, they were sweet but very underdeveloped. I know they had a tragic past, but I feel we didn't see them enough to believe it or have any kind of connection. The last-minute conflict resolution magic wand does its trick, and voilà... a happy ending.
Another thing that I feel they could have milked better is the whole idol fan relationship. They just brush past it pretty quickly.
Acting-wise, it was decent. Kevin, as Na Aejoon carried the role nicely. I felt the clumsiness, the second-hand embarrassment and the emotional scenes were spot on, especially when he was cooped up in his room. Kim Kang Min as Choi Si Yeol was charming too, but some of the heavier emotions didn't quite land. It wasn't terrible by any means, but when Aejoon cried, I felt something; however when Si Yeol cried (the classroom scene) lacked that impact.
Overall, this isn't a gourmet meal, but it will satiate your cravings. It has flaws but it's charming enough to forgive.
I would recommend it if you are looking for a short, fun, feel-good BL that's easy to binge. But don't expect clever writing or too much depth. It's a guilty pleasure kind of recommendation.

Qian-tastically unpredictable !! Where modern wit meets ancient chaos!
This drama takes you on a ride with Xu Qian who is unexpectedly thrown from his modern life into the Defang Dynasty. What really makes this stand out is the focus on the characters. Qian's journey is the heart of the show and his interactions with those in meets in this new mysterious world are what drive the plot forward.Since this is a character-centric drama, my review will also focus on people who stood with Qian in his journey. Whether it was through subtle bonds, conflicts or silly realizations, somehow everyone has a significant role to play. I have kept it as general as possible avoiding spoilers or any major events that might take away the firsthand joy.
✨ Character Sketch of Xu Qian:
Xu Qian, the sharp-witted and resourceful modern-day office worker, was unexpectedly transported to this fantastical place, the Dafeng dynasty. Despite his initial shock, he adapts to his new reality quickly and soon joins the guardians.
Qian is exceptionally intelligent and worked through with his modern mindset. He is not just book smart but a person who quickly thinks on his feet, applying science, logic and modern problem-solving techniques even in the most bizarre cases.
Though intelligence is his greatest asset, it is paired with quick wit and certain cunning making him unpredictable and endearing at the same time. He definitely had the knack of getting out of tight situations with a well-timed quip and a sly smile.
Xu Qian's comedic timing was impeccable. It does feel like it was a coping mechanism for him to adjust to this new world than just a simple defense mechanism.
Despite his occasional trickery and playful demeanor, he is deeply committed to justice. His sense of morality drives him to fight for common people. While his methods may seem unconventional, sometimes bending the rules too but his heart is always in the right place.
✨ Xu Qian's relationships with people around him:
▶️ The Xu Family: This family is the embodiment of chaotic love. With the loud, unpredictable dynamics, each member brings their own brand of energy that somehow always ends in laughter. They argue over the pettiest things but are always standing up for each other when it matters. The humor is deeply rooted in their interactions whether it's a miscommunication or over-the-top emotional meltdowns. Their ability to somehow find humor in near-death situations too gave that extra edge to the drama.
▶️ The Guardians (Gold, Silver & Bronze Gongs): Another entertaining dynamic that I enjoyed overall was Qian's friendship with everyone. He was Defang's favourite! The equation with each of them was different but all of them stood up in unison with him in times of need. They did not fight just for power but for one another.
His friendship with all the gongs transcends mere loyalty. It's built on mutual respect no matter what the rank is, shared battles and moments of stupidity together. The guardians’ unwavering belief in Xu Qian is a major part of the reason for his success.
▶️ Lord Wei: Their interactions initially were strictly professional but soon carried an undercurrent of mutual care, understanding and pride. Lord Wei watches over Qian with a deep sense of protective affection feeling a fatherly pride in his accomplishments. Their bond slowly wasn't defined by roles or traditional hierarchies but by an unshakeable familial connection.
▶️ Princess LinAn: Their relationship might have not been the central focus of the drama but as a subplot, it felt very organic without overshadowing the main plot. At first, the princess comes across as silly, naive and somewhat unreasonable but as the story progresses, she has a really good character development. The kisses are done very tastefully and made me feel a thing or two!
There are other characters too who have a significant impact on Xu Qian's journey and the whole drama but I believe mentioning them would be considered spoilers. I would prefer to experience them firsthand when watching the show.
✨ Acting: The acting across the board was truly impressive with everyone almost delivering exactly what was given and required of them.
Dylan as Xu Qian stood out for me. In my humble opinion, this is his best acting performance yet. (Yes, LBFAD was great and I considered that as his best performance before GODF). He really played to his strengths from dubbing in his own voice for his character to effortlessly mocking his own accent with that quick-witted comedic timing.
✨ Cinematography / Costumes / CGI: The cinematography was pretty especially the wide shots of natural landscapes.
The costumes and sets looked pretty detailed whether it was a grand palace or a simpler setting. The wide shots of natural landscapes were beautiful though.
My only gripe was the jaw protector on Qian! We DID NOT need to hide his jawline! (This sounds like my personal problem xD)
CGI was not the best I have seen but all of it definitely did a great job of enhancing the storyline without stealing the spotlight from the plot.
✨ Ending (No spoilers): The ending didn't feel open-ended to me. It tied up all the loose ends very satisfyingly but also left just enough room hinting towards season 2. I hope we get some sort of confirmation soon.
This drama has been my happy place for the past few weeks. I have laughed, cried, gotten frustrated and been completely hooked by twists and mystery, all while never losing my interest. It's one of those shows that has a perfect balance of drama and humor, where the comedy feels natural and not forced and a storyline where romance isn't the main focus. I would definitely recommend this.
Thank you for reading my review! <3
*Patiently wait for Season 2*

Everyone played but not everything paid off! Strong start, wobbled at the end!
The drama takes a familiar school trip setup and wastes absolutely no time turning it into a psychological pressure cooker. What starts as an ordinary group of high school students quickly descends into a deadly version of the mafia game, except this time, losing doesn’t mean sitting out the next round. It means you don’t make it to the morning. The biggest strength of this drama lies in its concept and execution to a certain extent. The rules are very simple, but they don't fail to generate the much-needed tension. We see a lot of alliances- some permanent, some temporary and where trust is a luxury no one can afford. I liked how the build-up to the whole mafia was constantly evolving, a bit creepy and quiet. The overall unpredictability of characters and that made it binge-worthy.
Once it hits the later episodes, some choices start feeling a little… huh? Now, the biggest reveal was mafia and the game lords and the reveal of both of them felt more convenient than logical. It left me with like "So all the build up was for that... THAT?".
I want to argue that the vagueness was supposed to be intentional and it was for us viewers to fill in the blanks. But sadly that thought didn't translate on screen as planned. The underlying message was nice and did make sense, but again it left me with so many questions.
The performances are strong overall. None of the characters come off as exaggerated or fake and the emotions whether it is panic or denial or that false sense of confidence, felt real for a group of teenagers suddenly dropped into a life-or-death situation. You might not like every character, but you get them and honestly, that matters more. Visually, the drama maintains a dark, claustrophobic mood that supports the story well and the overall production feels polished without being flashy.
Overall, it’s not perfect, but it’s interesting, unsettling, and absolutely worth watching especially if you enjoy nail-biters that make you think and give you that constant “something is wrong” stress for no reason.

Entertaining trash with a lot of yikes and no consent!!!
I have never been more conflicted on how to rate a drama. Objectively this was a mess… and yet, somehow I couldn’t stop watching. I will keep this review short because I have no idea how to prepare you for what this was. xDThat biggest issue and it’s not a small one is Sorn consistently crosses boundaries. There are multiple scenes where consent is clearly ignored or played off as “romantic,” and it honestly made parts of this drama hard for me to sit through. No amount of charm or chemistry can excuse that.
In the later episodes, I did see Jun reciprocating and it glossed over some of the toxic behaviour but it was hard to ignore considering how repetitive it was.
That said, their chemistry was really good! And the NC scene ... well it was a little too graphic than I would expect from a BL but I do think it was done well.
Once I ignored that dubcon part and pretended it never happened, the rest of their story was honestly just weak. Sorn was giving emotional whiplash with his hot and cold routine and Jun had absolutely no clue what was going on and honestly, neither did I.
They kept introducing new arcs while completely forgetting to finish the main storyline - to give depth and emotional weight to the main leads.
And on the “love” part. Jun clearly fell in lust. Those heart-eyes of his were giving surface level attraction at best.
But actual love? That felt more like a plot requirement than anything earned.
Someone clearly just went, "Welp, it's a BL, better check the love box!" and moved on.
I feel like with the chemistry they had, they could have done something better than this... The acting from the leads was a bit on and off but honestly, I think the script didn’t give them much to work with. I would give them the benefit of the doubt for that.
As for the second couple, they had their moments here and there but I didn't feel their chemistry at all. I am not talking about their NC scenes but the emotional connection. It felt very abrupt! Plus I feel Yoon, bless him, had the same expression the entire drama. No matter the scene, he looked exactly the same! That really dragged them down!
Overall, It’s trash, but it’s the kind that makes you gasp, yell at your screen and yet the next episode is played.
Recommended only if you are watching purely for "entertainment" and can mentally file this under guilty pleasure. Just don’t go in expecting emotional depth or healthy romance.

Finally completed it ! But at what cost *sigh*
Well I started this drama with alot of expectations and sadly it just couldn't deliver for me. I dropped it after 21 episodes. The main issue for me here was the story. The writing was extremely lazy - plot holes , slow pacing of the story and how the character arc went. I do love a slow burn romance but this seemed rushed and slow at the time like I know it doesn't make sense but from leads meeting to their interactions and their journey to love was just not organic.
The only thing I liked about this drama was the male lead and his acting. It is what made me push till 21 episodes ngl. That 8.0 in acting is just for him to be honest. The female lead kind of infuriated me at times. I just couldn't relate to her not being honest with male lead about something life threatening , assuming things and having the clueless same expression in almost every scene. The writing for her part was way worse than the whole story.
The chemistry between the leads looked a little forced to me. I kinda liked the story of second leads better than the main's.
Usually when stories don't work for me, its the acting / chemistry that saves the day! But this drama literally was 'NO' for me in both the departments.
Edit : 26 Dec 2024 : I finally managed to complete the show in mission to clean my dropped list and the rating remains the same. It did not get better on any fronts but I was glad it atleast didn't get any worse.
I WILL NOT recommend this!

Cosmetic Chemistry: An Almost Perfect Blend
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this series! Despite being only eight episodes long, it delivers an engaging story. The tone of the series is warm and the premise is refreshingly new to me- two men working as cosmetic consultants. Sahashi and Natsume are what you call 'The polar opposites'. Sahashi with his cold demeanour and apparent nonchalance is actually very observant and sensitive while Natsume, the cheerful "sunshine" character is accommodating to everyone while fighting his own internal battle. What I really liked about their story was how both were committed to excelling and performing well in their careers and Natsume, as Sahashi's senior did such a good , selfless job and guided him. Their interactions in the last two episodes felt absolutely honest and organic. Their "boyfriend" era was the sweetest with hugs and kisses.
The pace is rather fast for a J-BL considering the run time is short but somehow the story doesn't feel rushed! Special mention to the ending, it was beautiful.
Both actors did an excellent job portraying their complex characters to life. The side characters also did a good job although some seemed unnecessary or didn’t add much to the story.
While the chemistry between the leads and the quality of the camera work were highlights for me, I found Natsume's constant self-doubt a bit frustrating. Although he manages to overcome these doubts quickly and the realization comes eventually, the repetitive nature of his internal struggles was something that made the story feel repetitive and monotonous.
Overall, if you're looking for something with solid chemistry and a good storyline with decent execution, I’d recommend this.
