The person is asking questions. Your response it to belittle them. Thus maybe stopping them from asking questions in the future. That shuts down dialogue and leads to xenophobia.

It's like the opposite naming convention to English. Instead of putting 'tree' at the the fruit's name, like apple tree, in Thai, the tree already has a name, and the fruit gets 'look' put in front of it.
