š I realized I was raging for all my comments here. there are def positives. both ML and FL are smart. they work up their trust fairly organically. FL grows in her realization of some risks are worth taking and fighting to make right. ML fought for FL valiantly. their romance was top and they never lost their faith in each other. the family dynamics were interesting and I enjoyed watching FL save everyone with her insight of the āfutureā even though some ppl didnāt appreciate it š
okay. so it picks up with other aspects of the plot at 28 although it does fall back on the entire focus being them not getting married around 33 or something but at least itās just the bratty princess and her mom. I do start disliking the emperor a tad, especially when he said the line, āI have a good feel for ppl,ā which he uses correctly in that instance because he is talking about ML but then we also know his fave person is the baddest baddie. the way the royal princess never gets that she is selfish and a psychopath is crazy, but I guess realistic. I donāt think narcissists get that they are the problem š¤¦š»āāļø but the fact that she actually got an upgraded title and still buried in the royal mausoleumā¦not to mention the long flashback death. I just canāt. she died too easy. yet one of her follower was punished by being slowly sliced to death? š literally deducting a point for that because justice just did not feel served.
ok. the doomie finally asked her questions and cleared the air but ofc it was unnecessarily aggressive. idk. I…
you arenāt missing much. OTPās romance was boring. their respective besties were cuter together so I enjoyed their scenes together over OTP š also antagonist won for most of the drama and then didnāt get enough of a retribution 𫤠so yeah. skip.
I am raging at ep 20! why in the world did FLās maidservant put the letter in the door wedge with MOST of the letter sticking out??? who in the world does that???
she doesnāt want to make him choose and she knows that heāll defy his masterās last wish and give her the…
I got frustrated with the truth being hidden but itās no fault of the drama. I just wasnāt in a mood for that kind of angst. It was well written in that the plot was so character driven and didnāt require other plot devices move the story along. If I sit back and think about the backgrounds of our main leads and their personalities, all of their decisions make sense and although they fell in love and found that positivity in their life, itās hard to change years of loneliness, mistrust and emotional bankruptcy. I did watch certain moments at 2x after ep 21, especially Situ Ling ish and anytime the main leads were being extra angsty. Itās a drama that I appreciated more after finishing and reflecting on the different character motives and development. ML had to hide it into her food because she would have never taken it if she knew he extracted from himself. They ended up loving each other that they continuously became sacrificial to help the other. It was tragic circumstances but at least we come out winning. Knowing other xianxia dramas, this could have ended on a bittersweet or even a devastating tone.
Is it my top drama of 2025? Nope. Did Minghao save this drama? Yes. Iām guilty, I love the dude. Is it worth watching, I would wholeheartedly say, āyes!ā

I wish she could have gathered that her motherās expectations and anger at her were unjustified but that MLās anger at her were due to her lies and manipulation, but I get that her childhood has been so twisted that she canāt tell the difference. I canāt blame ML for his outbursts and guardedness since no positive figure has existed in his life and the one that did, he feels he played part in her cause of death.
They are two broken people who finally found love but are unable to move beyond the ways they learned to survive - one being super guarded and the other living a lie. So sad to not seem them together during these eps (Iām at 25 rn). I hope they come back together soon and can start healing, which ML seems to be about to take steps since his concern that sheās doing all this for Ming Xian have been cleared (kind of).

thatās an interesting perspective about her true identity! She would stop being Ming Yi in a way after she is cured and she would feel compelled to return to her realm, especially with the emotionally twisted relationship with her mother - craving for her approval and acceptance. Also your point about her concept of loveā¦both of them actuallyā¦they have never truly received love to be able to trust someone can love you wholeheartedly. Yes, this makes the events of 22-23 make more sense.

thanks for the thorough explanation. very interesting perspective on how she sees relationships in a transactional nature.
btw, I donāt think she felt he wouldnāt give it to her. She notes at the starts of ep 23 that she doesnāt want ML to defy his masterās last wish and when her Er Shi Qi says ML might for her, she says that she doesnāt want him to have to choose. I get that she might have been apprehensive whether he wil, but they didnāt quite layout her emotions as to that (as in not about what ML has done when she was caught in lies because here we are talking about her confessing which you canāt judge a person reaction to finding out about lies on their own vs you confessing) - So in my mind, thereās no concrete evidence by way of what has happened in the story that shows she feels he wouldnāt give it to her. What she says makes it seems she knows he would and she doesnāt want him to defy his master.
I think her clamming up wasnāt because he ignored her. The only time she did actually say something was about the wine and he took it as a joke because of the moment and how she said it. I think she clammed up every time because she was afraid of losing what she had. She used the manipulation she learned from her mother on him and at first she was afraid of the truth unveiled would lead to her being caught, but then it became a fear of losing him. Especially, ep 22, maybe bestie wanted to make sure she got to sleep with him that one night before everything unravels š š¤£ I mean, have you seen how hawt this man is? š

everyone seems to absolutely adore this drama so I feel like Iām missing something š Iām so annoyed that Iām watching at 2x hereon outā¦at least until she fixes this. ML better not be the one expected to fix it all

she ended up causing Er Shi Qiās death. like how did she think the dude was going to leave her? all she had to do was tell ML the truth. she ended up hurting him instead with the lies to the end and attempting to get the Golden Millet and then on top of all thatā¦although not her fault, SML comes to take her away and ML sees and is caused further grief. I just canāt wrap my head around this madness.
I donāt you guysā¦she had the chance to clear the air at the end of ep 22ā¦Iām not understanding her rationale…
she doesnāt want to make him choose and she knows that heāll defy his masterās last wish and give her the Golden Milletā¦so she thinks the better option is to go in and take it herself? to really break his heart?
