HEALTHY COUPLE ALERT!!!!
I really enjoyed watching this vertical drama. I'm rather picky with what I watch and I tend to drop most dramas after 10-20 mins if I dislike something. I watched this till the very end. It's heartwarming and empowering
What I liked:
+++ ACTUALLY HEALTHY CP!!!!! ML respects the FL, he uplifts her and treated her like an equal and she treats him like a normal human being too
+++ Character development!!!! It's not anything crazy deep, but in my opinion it fit the story well. I don't want to spoil anything but I think I can safely say that the FL grows throughout the story.
+++ Some character depth beyond the usual clichés: We have our usual 4 characters: ML, FL, stupid cheating pathetic manipulative SML (FL ex husband) and green tea bitch SFL. But hear me out! In my opinion, they actually have PERSONALITIES. I'm able to list out some character traits of our FL, she even has hobbies and skills. The ML maybe a bit less, but he's a good guy overall. Now, SML. Compete scum, but! Actual human scum, not a cartoonish flat scum. His attitude to the people around him is consistent throughout the story, his behaviours are also consistent and you can see that there's some depth and complexity to what he feels about the FL. Now, SFL. Come at me, but I actually liked her. She's a complete green tea bitch, but she also very clearly has a brain of her own and a goal in what she's doing. She's not just blindly sticking to the SML for no reason other than "the plot needs it". Even though I only got confirmation of it at the very end of the drama.
+++ FL and ML are equals, there's no poor weak good-for-nothing, damsel-in-distress FL. And she's not at ML's mercy.
+++ No rape, misunderstandings, fuck-or-die concoctions, unexplained bullying, forced marriages
++ Coherent plot
+ Quite nice music (although i might be biased, because it's unusual for me to watch dramas on sites that actually keep the original soundtrack)
+ Good/decent cinematography. I'm not a professional, but I honestly forgot I'm watching a vertical drama on some random website instead of on Netflix
Some small dislikes (don't let this repel you):
- there was a lie (only one which is an achievement imo, considering the usual amount in these dramas) that didn't get resolved and it left me feeling a bit uncomfortable, because I wouldn't like that to happen irl. But the FL was clearly okay with keeping that lie unresolved and the intention of said lie was not harmful to anyone, so I let it slide.
Trigger Warnings:
Car accident and death + some trauma
If somebody is sensitive about these things:
there are depictions of a gaslighting, manipulative and controlling relationship, but they're shown for what they are, not glorified in any way and resolved
There is one situation when sb is trying to force the FL into a kiss but doesn't succeed

Enjoyable if you can turn your brain off for the watch
Characters have no personality but the FLs clothes are pretty. But the plot is so random and basically non existent. This story is basically cliché on cliché. I couldn't take it. There's no mystery really, everything is revealed almost as soon as mentioned. I liked that the ML was respectful to the FL and never violent towards her unless his condition flared up (although it's implied that in the past he wasn't, so I can't really label him as a 100% green flag). Can be a nice watch if you can bear cliché tropes basically every few seconds and generally a lack of any specific plot. I think the idea was pretty cool, but the execution is very weak. I'm giving it 6 stars only because of the green flag supportive ML and FLWas this review helpful to you?
Your typical vertical drama plot, but surprisingly funny and good acting. (I dropped it)
Some positive notes:+ the acting is not so bad
+ genuinely funny in the beginning
+ the FL can stand up for herself and is quite sassy
+ ML is funny
What made me drop it:
-- White Moonlight (childhood love etc.) trope ewwwww (I'm so tired of it)
--- gaslighting and manipulative ML but framed as caring and nice (the FL kinda called him out on it, but still went through with his request) --> I stopped watching here, because I really really don't like that. It was just one scene, but I'm so averse to this trope (especially if he's otherwise framed as a nice person) that I dropped it immediately.
Some basic, prevalent annoyances that wouldn't stop me from watching but give me the "eh, here we go again":
- too unrealistic and plot armoured
- cliché af
- feels like it was heavily inspired by A Business Proposal
- the FL is ofc piss-poor
- annoying Green Tea Bitch
- they have 0 actual time to get to know each other, but the feelings are alr there cause the plot said so
Story: 5 stars because it's your typical cliché vertical drama and idw give it more because of that manipulative moment
Acting: 8 stars because I liked it
Music:
There's no SFX as usual. But I'm giving it 7 stars for that one abs scene hahahah
Rewatch value: 2. I hate manipulation. I might come back to it eventually because I'm hoping that maybe the ML won't display any other manipulative behaviour. I'll update my review then.
All in all:
I'm disappointed because I genuinely enjoyed the first 10 mins (and then they hit me with a white moonlight, green tea bitch and a very ridiculous abs montage (it's so funny, you should watch it even if you don't wanna watch the whole thing fr. It's somewhere around 10 mins, after we are introduced to the Green Tea Bitch)

Silly goofy little drama that doesn't take itself too seriously
A very light watch. I haven't finished yet, but I wanted to post a small review, because I'm having so much fun. It's a goofy drama, don't treat it too seriously. I like it so much precisely because it's very positive and unserious. Unlike some other dramas that turn out silly but try to be serious, this one is clearly made to be a fun watch with no elaborate plot or strong world building. It's so unrealistic but it works perfectly because it clearly never tries to be anything else. The FL is a very positive person and she fights the scheming Empress by befriending everyone she sends to sabotage her. It's delightful and refreshing.
The ML so far isn't particularly fleshed out and we don't know much about him.
All the side characters have very vivid good acting (you could say it's not good because it seems over the top and unnatural sometimes, but I think it's on purpose) and it's satisfying to watch.
The music doesn't always fit the scenes perfectly imo, but hey, they played one of my absolute favourite Chinese songs for the first proper kiss scene, so I'm not complaining.
Watching this will make you feel happy (or cringe), but definitely not sad, so I definitely recommend it <3
