I liked it, but I don't think it's as perfect as everyone seems to feel. First of all, it's time for Korea to…
Where Your Eyes Linger was the first BL I ever watched and yeah, this comes close. Another thing this series did right is the nerd fashion for Sang Woo. None of those ridiculous glasses and weird hairstyles Thai BLs favour. It really helped.
First of all, the sex scenes *chef's kiss* Actually surprised to find out the director is a man but then again all the Japanese films I've seen balance sex scenes very well and don't just cater to the male gaze.
The story itself is pretty ordinary except it deals with a subject matter that gets people all heated up and looking at the comments, some people are pissed as fuck. I'll give the writer a 10 just for the ability to elicit such strong reactions. And the actors too for bodying their roles so well.
I don't see anyone talking about how the female characters "got away with cheating" complaining about the redemptive arc for the abusive husband. Shouldn't he have gone to jail or something? It's nice when bad behaviour is punished and tied away neatly with a bow but life is hardly like that and that's what this drama shows.
That's why the comment sections exist - to allow people let out pent-up frustrations/anger about fictional characters because there's little they can do when they encounter these situations irl.
I've seen a number of your comments including the ones wishing women that their partners cheat on them because they're not shouting for these fictional women to be tied to the stake and burnt. You feel really strongly about this. Keep up the good work.
Many years ago, I decided that since there are so many great books and I have limited time, I'll only read books I really enjoy. Brought the same thinking to dramas. If I'm not enjoying a drama by ep 3, it's dropped. And if there's something I'm super curious about, I look for a drama recap and satisfy my curiosity that way. (It also helps that I have the attention span of a gnat.)
Why did they translate the English phrase "Oh, my love" sang repeatedly into totally unrelated sentences? Also,…
"Also, why is this called "Secret Crush On You"? Everyone is very aggressive with their crushes - they're all the opposite of secret." 100% agree. The only secret is the intent of the writer/director with some of the choices they've made so far because too much doesn't make any sense, comedy or not.
We need people in the world who see the good in others. On ep 4 and Judge Cha is such a character. He balances out Judge Shim's character very well. Kids need them both - two judges who are on their side even though in different ways.
I think I'm mostly fascinated by how cringey it is and am curious about how far they'll take it. What'll happen when Nuea and Toh hug? Will we get 5 minutes of Toh in stasis mewling like a cat? Hope we find out soon.
I enjoyed this drama way less than I expected. The lead characters had the right chemistry and everything but still left me cold, which is weird because I like both actors. Enjoyed watching the support characters more especially Im Hwi and Lee Jang Woo. Im Hwi is so chaotic and cute and featherbrained I couldn't help but smile every time she appeared in a scene.
The constant flashbacks and the voiceovers also pulled me out of the drama way too much. I think it's an okay drama, not just for me. And I finally get the people who don't like PMY. She has this deer-caught-in-headlights expression that can get old pretty quickly. Still love her though.
I stopped at EP 11 by the way. Just couldn't go on.
Every time I watch a zombie show/film, I always wonder whether characters in zombie films haven't watched other zombie films. Made me so happy when the kids referenced Train to Busan and used the word "zombie" rather than panicking "omg what's this?"
Would have wanted a little more character development but liked how the characters stayed consistent till the end. I don't think I have seen a blander character than Nam Ra. Jo Yi Hyun didn't hit the character 100% but she tried. Most of the others were annoying and endearing in equal measure. The director certainly gets props. Working with a young and relatively unknown cast and getting this much out of them.
As for the story, there's really only so much you can do with zombies. All the usual tropes were present and there were a few comedic moments (the choco bar). Will definitely recommend if you want semi-mindless zombie action.
This episode is my fave by far. The funny scenes right after the tear-jerkers. Hee-do is the best girl, truly.

Your lessons learnt are 10/10.
Also me: *watches this show every Friday*

Such a heartwarming drama.
