I've only started this and I'm already dropped it... I have no issue with this drama, I can say it's a very well made, with strong performance by the characters who were portrayed but it's not my cup of tea... this drama was made for two types of viewers... A fan of the revenge romance gone wrong genre and for those who want to see this remake, because it's a remake version from 2015 Dr. foster, even though the original has 2 parts and 10episodes combined (1hour each), this kdrama version is 16 episodes (1:20-1:30 hours each) which means it dive deeper for the Main Female Lead character storyline and twice the dramatic sequences....
the drama is funny but the plot is getting underwhelmed after ep.20... The deity (new introduction character) pops out just to stop the demoness from getting killed because he himself in love with her 1000 years ago (that he's the reason she became like this..wtf bro), that's just dumb... where's was he when the sect getting attacked with several victims... it's an unnecessary plot armour for the demoness so that she can strike again later.
SALT is the very foundation in the drama... -- FL met ML because he's a salt smuggler -- The crown prince later became emperor trust ML because he's a professional salt smuggler -- The villains main goals always about salt. WHICH MEANS 'NO SALT MEANS NO PLOT'!!! I watch this drama solely because i got so many recommendations especially because the screenwriter and the director (one of them from PoB) was from Prisoner of Beauty (My fav drama of all time) but it couldn't met my expectations (maybe because i expected too much?), here's what i think___ *** Romance has little on screen, the chemistry between the ML/FL was top-notch but romantically? nope, it doesn't offer much, only ep.24-28 that i clearly see the romance so well written later its back to square one. it's always salt...salt....salt....salt = ASS-SALT the good characters. The plot was like a graph in stock market, sometimes its so good and sometimes its too underwhelmed for me... they show how ordinary a ML can be.. that without FL he has no bright future but the plot/screenplay so extra ordinary like any other generic dramas... Many saying this drama worth 10 out of 10... this drama was so enjoyable to watch but its not the best either... its a well made yet doesn't offer much for me to be impressed. What's the one thing KILL ME LOVE ME , DESTINED, BLOSSOMS OF POWER and this drama has... IT's FAKE DEATH because the antagonists too formidable. If this drama is a food then i'm not a fan because it's too salty.
Ancy Deng as the FL was the best thing this drama ever offer to me. I loved her performance and her character so adorable... I can't wait for her future project!!!
please tell me... ep.19-20 so chaotic, the villains finally go to attacked on the Immortal territory... was all this because the ML overestimated his plans or he underestimated the villains or because he just trust himself and no one else, he said it in the ep.20, that chengeng want to learn to trust which means he don't trust anyone, he just used them to manipulate and gaslighting... it's the title of the drama itself PULL STRINGS meaning the ML having fun controlling everyone's for his own gain... tbh that's sounds like a despicable ML, he really was a jerk who's too arrogant not to show his power and too selfish to achieve his hidden goals.
this drama is in xianxia historical category and I can see that most of the xianxia (ie. immortal characters) has too many dumb and idiots characters that's why villains always got their way to infiltrate their plans...
i really hope this drama going to be good in the end because as of now I'm very disappointed
YouQin & Yun Xiao both are seriously head over heels for the ML... meanwhile Ling E and JiuJiu both seriously liked him too much also yunxiao's brother calling ML brother in law for some reason so funny 🤣.... Whats up with mermaid princess attacking at the last scene of ep.17? is she really against dragon clan now?
what a ridiculous drama, it has so much potential in the initials episodes but after ep.6 it literally made me underwhelmed 😒... They try to plot twist the main antagonist but i already have some clue and suspect so I'm not surprised anymore meanwhile what surprised me was the Right Chancellor 😱... though I doubt his character but i didn't expected him to so evil...
The ML is good character development, CZY did a great job and has the similar Vibe to his FATED HEART character... FL however disappoint me greatly 👎🏼... what kind of character development they write for her... imo it doesn't matter whether FL's knows martial arts or not because I liked FL who's reasonably smart, considerate, kind and brave... in this drama she maybe smart, kind and all that, but wtf!!!?? she's a hot headed character and always seems to ignore her true self... if she spare Blood Moon Group leader because he's her friend then did she forgot he's the one supply the mental sickness pills and cause so many to die at the restaurant of her friend and also her friend nearly died from it... where's the righteousness in FL?? what a shitty decision indeed. FL seems to forgot about her past when she was struggle with her sworn sister during the kidnapper incident.... also what the fck happened to Zhilli and Anian, Anian literally died couple days later after he got to kissed and copulate with her?? as if his date to live will be stable if he didn't slept with Zhilli... The title of the drama doesn't make sense... because it happened after ep.20 which is nearly the end of the drama, it should've been the main topic in the early as 5-6 or 9-10 episodes but nope, the creators of the drama just want to bait the viewers. The drama's screenplay so dumb and misfired every time, the romantic chemistry was there but it doesn't impress me much.
the drama (ep.13-14) so funny and boy oh boy, they add fan service for Roupang and Zhen Ni character's to have a bit of romance in the bear island... clever move👏🏼 Also Zhen Ni so beautiful and adorable in the drama😍❤️

Jo Hye Joo so beautiful but her character so ridiculous, MinHwan was definitely an evil character but in the later episodes 11-12 his plan so dumb for the sake of the plot, his adoptive mother really loved him, she knew what he did but still gave him hope that after he paid all his wrong doing he will be welcome back to normal society... wtf!!! he's literally having revenge plan for ML FL... come on, also I look it up online for the criminal case in south korea; firstly MinHwan ignore his brother when he's in danger and let him die, that's minimum 5years in prisons and some case 10 to 25 years, in this case, a video proof it he's in direct contact... maybe more than 10years?? secondly he committed murder and it's on video prove, that's either 20-30years or life in prison... thirdly, he attempted murder, that's 5years in prison and lastly, he bribe (high level people) and cover up his crime that's either 5 to 10 years or life in prison (high level corruption) okay then will MinHwan stuck in prison for 50+years??!!
I liked this drama but after halfway through it doesn't have much to show them ep.11 underwelmed me and the last episode just concluded everything but also the OST so good

yeah that maybe the reason... watching this drama feels like I'm watching Immortal Ascension, no romance only ML trying his best to be a survivor, however so many gorgeous women are having a crush on him.... Pull Strings also felt similar but comedy was the main attraction in the plot and the slapstick so funny🤣🤣🤣...
The only thing I can say about this drama that ITS NOT FAIR was it's title GENIUS GIRLFRIEND (or am I wrong, I may meant A FRIEND WHO IS A GIRL i.e. Girlfriend) ... I was hooked by it's title, I'm a Tian Xiwei fan and she's the cutest actress in the nation I've ever seen, but then the drama was not about the Girlfriend stuff it's always about the Genius stuff... I'm not a fan of highschool storyline but this drama was exceptional because Tian Xiwei fit the role so well as if she's really a 16-17years old super high-IQ girl... truth be told, only 3 episodes (26-28) that the FL became the genius girlfriend... i praised the emotional lonely plot of the ML it brought tears in my eyes and I added 1 more point for its best timing of well made OST to both romantic and emotional sequences 👏🏼❤️

Also it's pretty easy to make Tian Xiwei character going from young age to older age, they just changed her hair from having bang to no bang😁
well made drama but has too many flaws but still it's enjoyable and watchable with ease especially the OST so good❤️

similar to GOTD only for ML to be so funny and also he was teleport to historical era except GOTD with science and this drama is Fantasy like Immortal Ascension style also GOTD has Tian Xiwei as FL rom-com but here it's like Yang Yang on a ML centric storyline
what happened when IMMORTAL ASCENSION and GUARDIANS OF THE DAFENG merge into one...that's when this drama comes....
