Echoes of the Self is th first short drama i'm watching and its surprisingly pretty enjoyable indeed. The only thing this drama is good for was its romance storyline, though it doesn't have strong impression at least it get the job done... meanwhile the character development, screenplay, main storyline and the villain so weakly written and sometimes its too silly and goofy that it became into a ridiculous sequences. To be honest, on paper this is definitely going to be very good (a future FL going head to head with her past self)... but meeh its not capable enough especially the okay start (ep01) and had comical conclusion (ep.22). However this drama is much better and worth it compare to a pathetic cdrama 'Love and Crown' 2025
This drama nearly became the greatest drama of the year from it's casting, plot, romance, comedy and fantasy historical ... but imo it lack too much when it has so much of fan-services, the character development of the ML so unpredictable but all is fine cuz it was cover up so well by the comedy, the comedy so well written in most sequences and just absurd in some, also the romance act as a minor in the story. All the women character so adorable and attractive, like Qian Rou & Miao Zhen so attractive, superstrong and beautiful but they are easily temper whereas Princess Huai Qing is my favourite female character, she's gorgeous, smart/intelligence & wise ... its unfortunate she's just had very small screentime. Cai Wei & Princess Lin'an so cute too. Wei Yuan is the best mentor and Xin Xian is the best brother. The bonding of ML with his family balance with his personal romantic is okay and good but the main core of the plot is full of unanswered questions and the season 2 is in development and it deserve a sequel since it need to gives some answers. The vfx is appreciatively good and the ost is very fine indeed.
This drama is far from perfect, the plot and the character development is too goofy however I really like Ji Yeon innocent workaholic character and ji hoon gentleman character cuz I kept remember them as villain... EP.12 indicate there will be a normal romance from Ep.13 forward, Jung jae character's so silly but entertaining and ji Hye already one of my fav actress since crash landing on you
but Why they don't write fls like they write mls !? in this drama from you watch how many times she apologize…
Yeah, alot of silly things the FL had done to the ML like when she trick him but I do understand her objective, that's a grown up ideas since ML decision was kinda childish... It's like she raise him to be her perfect husband and he want to support and take care of her for the rest of his life.
This drama already gave me a feeling its going to be good since the beginning of the episodes, i care how the writers create the Male Lead and they nailed it on this one, he's not overconfidence or too energetic but he is a humble and considerate kid. Older woman/younger guy always been my favourite genre but couldn't find many that made me like it very much and Sniper Butterfly is so well written when it comes to the chemistry of the main leads especially the romance it's very top notch. Though the plot is not the greatest that the 2nd and 3rd lead had to fill in the gap, however the strong character development of Michelle Chen and beautiful performance so beautifully well done, MC still looks so gorgeous in her 40s that the character she played had to be in her 30s and its suits her well meanwhile Daniel Zhou character was written to be much older in the drama than irl. Also its a coincidence that the plot took place between 2016 and 2024 (during the shooting of this drama) where 2016 is where Michelle Chen got married irl and in 2025 (the releasing of this drama) she got divorced irl. Michelle Chen is the first Taiwanese actress in Cdrama i really became her fan!
Anyone has a clue why the title is Sniper Butterfly?
i think the butterfly represent the Female Lead and the Male Lead is the sniper which means a person who shoots (with love) from a hiding place, especially accurately and at long range (from village to urban).
I just started this one and the character development of ML already look legit which is what matter to me most... The FL so gorgeous at 42 she reminds me of Julia (FL from Love in the Devine Tree)
I'm at ep.10 but the drama still haven't shine much, the comedy is fun yet silly and the romance definitely need some upgrade cuz it gave alot of cliche vibe. The 2nd leads still full of mysteries and the villain act as a hiccup in the plotline, meanwhile Se-na intention isn't clear enough to participate the shocking reveal later.
The romantic so well written with fantastic chemistry but the main plot doesn't have much to shine, though the theme is clear which is always about the creature so extraterrestrial executing secret invasion but in small scale. Dilraba did her awesome part but Zhang Li steals every scenes she's in, her beauty so mind blowing that her character so toxic it can kills anyone getting close to her hidden schemes. The ML always mention his missing sister and that gave the viewers hope but later It was mentioned by Ms.Li she was dead (but offscreen?!) What a disappointed writings right there. Seems like these creatures doesn't have any emotions but they do have strong instinct to protect and care the one's they willing to do.
This is the first cdrama i considered unwatchable (3/10)... its so bad, worst character development, disappointed directing and dumb plot. i only watch this because of REN but after i completed i found out that Estelle Chen deserve to be the female lead than Peng Xiao Ran, i like PXR performance but in the drama itself EC character surpassed the beauty and the personality than the FL but then what in the actual f%ck is going on!!!??? because later the writers decide to turn EC into a hypocrite pathetic crazy b#tch ... i will never forgive the writers for what they did. The plot twist so rush and ridiculously laughable and most of the sequences was misfired to execute properly which gave the result to failed miserably, this drama waste my precious time...
I like Du, she's wise, smart, reliable and above all she's beautiful, the fact that she's only a supporting character, I like her more than the FL but the writers did her dirty, the moment she start a toxic relationship with some unknown general broke my heart, I won't forgive this fckin writers. Though I planned to watch till the end but this drama already a big disappointment for me.
I'm at ep. 8 and after many good and bad historical cdrama I've watched the writers made the female lead too emotionally naive which she become dumbest character that it help extending the plot twist
