A great irony that father and son are in hospital being resuscitated for alcohol poisoning. Lin is with the father and editor with He Han. The dad told He Han he didn’t want to see him but left a final message with Lin. He Han’s mother is alive. This was unexpected news for everybody. He Han will always regret not seeing him before he passed, but I think his dad wanted it that way. Surprisingly, assistant and GuYan had a civil conversation and he is reading what HeHan wrote for his chapter. He wants to learn from him but is it for writing or because his deluded mind thinks that will be key to get Lin? Only crazy author knows for sure. Assistant’s dad showed up at Lin’s and was a calm voice in the storm. I did not expect that. His daughter has moved out and I am happy, but only briefly, by episode end she is invited back. He Han is depressed and his editor gave him a week off. Assistant was stopped at his door by his editor and I was glad. She needs to have boundaries where boss and idol are concerned. Zhao and Ling are discussing GuYan and how he will react to the chapter. Here Ling recognizes what Zhao does as safety net maker for everyone and noticed that she makes no safety net for herself. When he asked her she simply said she will get it all or be broken in pieces. She is forcing his hand to a wedding banquet for the holiday. I would feel sorrier for him but if she waited ten years he would still be this reluctant. Lin is planning to press GuYan hype during He Han’s absence. Fan is stepping it up by having a live show discussing the Phantom Knight. This one is the legend of web authors and no one knows who it is. I would crack up if it turns out Fan is the long lost author.😂🤣 It is not likely but it is fun speculating. He Han is still looking and acting clinically depressed but he sends his editor out on an unexpected mission—to find his mother.

Everybody was happy with He Han’s chapter except his editor. She is asking him how he will help bail Lin out next time? Whose name is he going to use? Fan is holding up the contract. He is so close to see the pair he really wants to do business with. But right before update, GuYan submits his own work. After a lot of deliberation, Lin chooses his chapter over He Han’s. Once he hears the news he is put out and sulking. He invested a lot of time, but I see it as karma for the way he demoralized the younger author. He just got to remember what that feels like. As for the assistant, if they booted her out entirely I would not miss her. She is shrieking, moaning, whining, or asking stupid questions to her roomies. I want her fired and out of Lin’s house. He Han feels sorry for her, but he helped create her with his indulgent behavior. He keeps her just close enough to bask in her idol’s presence and he gets some serious hero worship. She had no right to inform GuYan about who wrote the chapter, and even less her comparison opinion. She can get off her damn pedestal and find a new job. GuYan is just as annoying. His test over who appreciates him more caused a lot of people serious grief. He still puts his relationship with Lin at a personal rather than employer level. He Han needed taken down a peg but would Lin have kept GuYan thinking she wrote the chapter? GuYan is creepy because he wants a redo of HeHan’s early career. That’s just bizarre. In spite of his preferences, Ms Zhao has been the only one honest and up front with him. She really is his best option. Then we go to Zhou Mei and Bei where she basically wants to know if he has more companies. She still wants to hang on to him while it is clear he wants to manipulate her under the guise of being the great benefactor. If she loves him, is it simply because he is unavailable? He covets her, but like a trophy. He wants her on his shelf at his pleasure and no one else can admire her. She should just give up men entirely until she figures herself out and cuts ties with her mom. Her young lawyer loves her warts and all but I have no idea if she can accept a love that is pure and for her alone without being a stolen moment from someone else. I hope he succeeds in breaking her tie to Bei and I hope he finds love whether or not with Zhou Mei. GuYan is in full tantrum mode in Lin’s office. She finally tells him to shut the hell up and get writing. Her recollection of awards night is selective because she was too busy trying to save her ass with Fan’s contract. Where she fails GuYan is not being open and honest with him. She skirts the He Han issue without really addressing it and being sure he understands. He needs it in juvenile language where it is not subject to interpretation. He Han is now his father with the booze. He sticks up for assistant but Lin has the right of it. She was an employee for a different editor and company. Because she lives with Lin she was privy to too much and went far beyond the scope of her job to try to fix things. She is young and allowed to be immature to a degree, but as a top editor assistant, she wasn’t following company guidelines but her own. She needs to get far away from Lin and HeHan and work for a completely different company where she does the job and not insert her opinions or extra missions to assist in matters she is not responsible for. He Han and Lin finally have it out and while my adrenaline is up because of the yelling match, I am beyond caring about any of them. It is one big playground fighting match with all of them. The only grown ups of the group are the assistant lawyer and Zhao. These two have objective eyes and see the lay of the land for what it is and fight for it unapologetically. Lin is in her office depressed over HeHan. She should be hovering her prodigy and focusing on her company. He Han is a man child but no longer her responsibility. As much as he loves her he can’t stand her meticulous ways. He is trying to down a fifth and will most likely pass out or poison himself before he accomplishes it. There are still way too many episodes to go to be this fed up with these characters. For now, the assistant lawyer is the one that has my attention.

Ms Lin deserves to lose her young prodigy Gu Yan. She dumped him at the door of the award ceremony that should have been the first of many huge milestones for an author. Not only did she ignore him, she let He Han usurp the awards and make it look like he was giving the rookie the award from his benevolence. Then the top editor and second best writer talked about smashing Gu Yan’s award to match THEIR history rather than celebrating HIS success. After not spending even a moment to check on him, she has his award delivered to him expecting an update to be timely. Too bad for her she did not think her real company asset deserved even a minute of her real life time. He is being courted by her ‘friends’ because she was too busy being fake courted by her fake bf. Gu Yan’s obsession with her is beyond creepy and I don’t blame her for keeping distant. But the way she handled that award ceremony was awful. She knew he was basically a game hermit that had two whole friends in the world and would be uncomfortable. I have no idea why she did not think it her responsibility to keep tabs on him. Apologies this is my rant from 2 previous episodes because if I had started this then, I would still be yapping about it on those pages and never had time for today’s. This episode has perky assistant’s dad interested in pursuing Ms Lin. The girl has money and needs to move out. They make her ask stupid obvious questions trying to appear more naive than she is. Her attempts to fit in with the older ladies is annoying. We have He Han’s past, present and wannabe future girls all in the same room. It doesn’t work for me. She keeps the grownups from talking and they have to act like college girls sending txts back and forth to keep nosy roomie out of earshot. Ms Zhao has taken on the care of Mr Ling’s gma. He did not want to be another zip lock bag collection for her, but when he heard only half the details of handling his gma’s finances he was more than happy to give it all back to her. She has managed to get Gu Yan out of the area and I find myself wishing her success. He is a true talent and Lin did not value him. Zhao can relate to this because this is the story of her life. For now, he has done his best to trash his keyboard and saying he’s done writing. He has issues because he expected his story to be like He Han’s where Lin was concerned. He truly believed she would fall in love with him and they would become the perfect writer and editor leaving old He Han in the dust. He was beyond crushed that this didn’t happen but I am sure his gf is relieved. The only thing beneficial about the fake dinner is that they uncovered one mole and He Han got the truth about his dad. Regardless of outcome, that is something he should know and have time to consider. Young lawyer has a lot more game than expected. His proposal fell flat but he went toe to toe with the boss and held his own. If he pulls this off, he might actually get Zhou Mei’s attention. Lin is trying to make up for lost time and get as much of GuYan’s future pages as possible. A couple minutes of her real time invested would have saved her from the calamity she’s dealing with now. An ounce of prevention and all that …. Zhao is damn smart. She gives him a quest he wants and goes for investing in the Internet cafe rather than his writing. She is getting his attention and respecting what he wants. Something Lin never bothered to do. Kudos to her.👏🏻 omg I need earplugs for the whine fest at He Han’s place. He now knows but his arrogant ass is a huge part of the problem. They could have given her half those whiney lines and got the point across. Fan wants out of the deal and I don’t blame him. He wants his dream team back together and sees this as the means. No sympathy for Lin. She wanted to pride herself on creating excellence, and she does. But she did not believe in it enough to give it the attention needed. She always had to have a backup plan. And when that failed she resigned herself to recreate her old circumstances. So now that it’s bitten her in the ass she has no more parachutes left. He Han sends the girl out to buy snacks and tells her the equivalent of the sun will come up tomorrow.😝🙄 He is right that he needs to get his writing squared away and stay out of Lin’s business. He gets a drink like dear old dad and starts typing. The editors are all cursing GuYan, but if they would have seen her ‘effort’ at the award ceremony, I think they would have had more sympathy. They have no idea how hollow and empty she made him and that award feel. With this, I think Ms Zhao is the one that gets what happened the best. This is why she steps in with all the right things to urge him back to the writing table. She still only has a 50/50 shot, but that’s 50 percent more than Lin has. Looks like the great savior He Han is coming through with a chapter. Zhao had one thing right. This story was never Gu Yan’s. Waiting to see if these two finish their unfinished story. Zhou Mei meets with her new bf and learns he is more of a man than the man she admires. The way things look Bei had her company ready to discredit her at a time of his choosing. Now she has a young knight fighting for her. That small peck on his cheek was a huge declaration from Zhou Mei. He has reached a whole new tier in her estimation. He Han did a good thing with the chapter, but he owed her that after demoralizing the new kid on the block. They both reminisce about the good ol’ days and he is falling asleep typing the pages he should have been writing. This story keeps me interested, but all the characters are gray except whiney girl. She and Mimi should ride off in the sunset and make their own stories. 😝

It’s 1997 at the cement factory. Officer He takes his car to a garage that is conveniently situated to surveil Song’s quarters. There is a cute scene of He daughter with Ran as he meticulously plugs in data for his fix it algorithm. As he explains it to her I loved her cute response that he over complicated things. She rolls up his data page and shows him two points with a straight line works better. 😂 While he’s peeking through his paper spyglass, He is doing the same with his actual one at Song’s window. Song and bro in law are chatting and all is somewhat forgiven as the documents were brought to him. There are still missing items he wants wants bro in law to return and the subject goes to buried woman. Bro in law is to take a picture of the body and then destroy body by any means necessary. He knows he’s been spotted when the curtains are drawn. Song cleverly gets a construction vehicle to drop cement on He’s car. The door can’t be opened and Song drives on by.. He gets a message that Ran took his daughter to YuanLongLi. While he’s storming about Song getting away, Ran and daughter He are making their way to the rooftop. The old man has a new batch of chickens and daughter He admires them. Ran finds a pipe vent that was covered by debris the first time they were there. Ran takes measurements of the opening and gets interrupted when the child yanks on somebody in the coop. The property manager was getting something when discovered. That conversation gets interrupted when the old man comes up to defend his chickens. There is a cute scene where she cracks the egg on her forehead. The scene forwards to 2015 and that is still her method to crack eggs. 🤣She pleads with the middle school principal for the student found with cleaver. The parents want immediate expulsion, but he agreed to delay things and reconsider if proof found he acted in self defense. Ran and He are back in the building. He is trying to smooth things for his daughter and Ran reminds him he wasn’t that considerate with his first case.😝Ran has had enough dealing with the old case when He tells him the local girl he likes still lives in YuanLongli. Then it goes back to 1997. Ran has taken XiaoHe to Ms Qiao while he investigates the building. She goes right for the coke and playing matchmaker between the grownups.😂🤣The old guy busybody is snooping and looking for payment for info. He wants to spread gossip about Ms Qiao so I enjoyed He dusting him with his cement dusted clothes.😂 The 2 goons show up to intimidate the bro in law to making a 300k contract with them. They were beyond settling for the 30k knife guy was owed. Lili talks to Ran and He and Sun’s name came up as a regular client for MengMeng. She also referred ZhiZhi to them as one more acquainted with Mr Sun. Ran is writing the bits of info meticulously in his ledger. ZhiZhi loves flirting with Ran😂🤣However they did learn he bought brand items to create knockoffs and that the real items were given to girls he liked. They speculate about Su and what may have given him motive to kill Meng. At Qiao’s place she is studying for an exam and XiaoHe is surprised grownups have to study. Ran and He are going to check both Sun’s shop and the Bowl’s store where he got the brand item. While they are discussing strategy Muse boss and bro in law plotting theirs. Originally it was just to embezzle money from Song. When she asked him straight up if MengMeng was alive or dead bro in law stated emphatically that she was cold stone dead as episode ends.

The guy spying was from the company but not for the boss. He was a prior manager sent to the village and he did not want a repeat of what happened with him. He has a very detailed board of events that I wish he would share with Seong and village chief so they could get a bead on what’s going on. Village chief and Mr Seong stake out the cabbage field and discover who was there and what happened. This turned into a poignant scene as a mother suffering dementia was digging up the area where they had buried her youngest child’s clothes. They were trying to break her out of her mourning for her lost son. Mr Seong was seen as Mak Dung by the mother and she cuddled him for quite awhile basking in what she believed was her son’s embrace. While all this was happening the mom was looking for her boys and found eldest just ready to kiss a girl. This led to a series of events where mom learned the truth about him dropping out of school and after a rather violent reaction they learned she was taking meds for panic attacks. In a sweet scene eldest son and Bo Mi were cutting radishes and he was getting over his fear of knives and cutting. So she helped him work through some of his surgery trauma. The villagers came with baby plants to replace the ones Ms Mak destroyed digging for baby clothes. Right when things seemed to be settling down Seong’s shady boss shows up. He gives a fake reports about all the pesticides and hard metals found in the samples. Seong knew this was a total crock but proving it is key. It seems rather than paying the villagers to produce cabbage, they want to force the villagers out of their homes and take the land. This episode keyed in on understanding, sympathy and coming to terms with children making unexpected choices.

Wei and his new flunky are disappointed the bug was found so quickly. The rats are scrambling from the sinking ship. Marcos agrees MiYu is innocent but he has to prosecute if not resolved because he is speaking for the corporation not himself. He graciously gives Ji three days but warns his friend he may have to choose between MiYu and the hotel. Tan shows up and invites MiYu to run away to HongKong. She reflects on the pitfalls of entrusting your life to somebody else. She admits that in a different time she would have wanted this option, but it is the wrong time and they have different paths. This time there is no confusion with her refusal. She said Ji was only part of the reason. She is finally making headway on her own and wants to go as far as she can. While Ji is guilty of rescuing her, he is the only one that has encouraged her to make the most of her abilities and not rely on anyone but herself to move forward. For all his faults this is what she loves most about him. So Duan shows up and adds his two cents and Ji decides to delete the security footage. He knows it can be recovered but he needs more time to connect the dots. So our resident heartless has been having a bad day. She is confronted by the wife of her baby daddy and told to get out of Purong. Wei is going to find her another job like he is Mr reliable. Ji and Wei got into it and Auntie walks in. She is kicking Ji out and taking over the investigation. Ji and MiYu split up to cover more ground. MiYu will look into the new hire and Ji will check out Wei and security team. MiYu runs into Nie and he tells her ZhenZhen had been on the phone with her sister. He is looking better and might become a decent person after his divorces. Ji sees the altercation between ZhenZhen and Mrs Wei. The dots continue to connect when new hire was referred by ZhenZhen. Sister is on tape admitting her part in adding bug app. She was supposed to get 500k for doing it. I am not sure what bribe was offered to new hire. The actress playing Dai did an excellent job of repentant worker. She wrote a statement explaining her part in the bug case. She felt tremendous guilt when MiYu had only shown her kindness and her struggle with that was very well done. The facts were coming together to point out ZhenZhen but nobody knew her connection to Wei. I gotta admit I never expected heartless to just spill the tea across the board. They now all know Wei is the baby’s father. The chips are going to start falling and landing very hard. Rui has snuck into Wei’s room and getting something from computer when episode ends.

At their dinner MiYu tells Tan she can’t accept and apologizes for using him. They agree to be friends, and with their mutual love of art, they could be colleagues in the future. This is a good place for them. The mom realizes the gravy train is coming to an end and brings in the scheming husband. Instead of meeting with MiYu as planned, they sneak off to get a bonus from Ji before contract ends. MiYu hears the offer at 200k if used to pay off the debt they imposed on MiYu. It is nauseating to hear them brush off the debt as her responsibility and how hard she would work to repay it. At their lunch they are planning what they will do with the money, completely disregarding MiYu. When she she brings up the loan, her ‘daughter’ status is brought up. She confronts them albeit too nicely and declares it her hush money. She puts her status to business and that her ATM status has changed passwords and they no longer have the need to know. She respectfully cut ties and sent them on their way. They don’t deserve a redemption arc and she did not give them one. She just dealt with them compassionately as she is wont to do. The influencer invites her to a meal where they discuss pickles. She is the one that gives MiYu the best unsolicited advice. We are finally privy to that conversation between her and Ji when she was most depressed and learn his true feelings. He cared for her because of their past, but he no longer saw a future with her because their paths had diverged. They both had different fates now and their paths were not meant to realign. In her candid chat with MiYu she spoke of her missed optimum time and greatly encouraged MiYu to not make the same mistake. She advised her that Ji was simple with relationships. Who he liked he liked and who he didn’t he didn’t. She frankly admitted to MiYu that Ji told her straight up that MiYu was who he liked. I did not expect this to be a more sisterly meeting, but it actually is —where the older sis warns the younger sis to learn from her and not repeat the same mistake. Finally we have the meeting between Ji and MiYu that we have been waiting for. She still refuses to let the poor man talk but they are finally truly communicating in spite of it. They have a passionate night and we even got a version of Spider-Man upside down kiss. It is a long time coming but finally in the right track.🥰 MiYu is truly a glutton for punishment asking to transfer to sales dept. Mr Wei is already plotting and her first day at work she has telemarketing detail. Against all odds she finds an interested party that is immediately brushed off because considered too small a business venture. This seems to be the niche MiYu could bring to the table in this dept. Everything was wrapped up a bit too neatly, but it was about damn time. It will be an interesting meeting when ZhenZhen comes back to work.

ChangNing was making excellent progress. Her thesis paper is just about finished and she might even get to graduate with her class. Yan Ling’s supervisor sympathized with her being cut from promotion and mentioned her getting a second chance by heading a committee sponsoring scholarships. What she later discovered is that Ding offered to donate 10 million to the school as long as she was heading committee. ChangNing is missing and Yan Ling finds her in the ocean trying to wash away memories of Feng. He had taken his new gf to their special place and she lost a lot of the ground she had developed in being free of him. Hopefully she will get back on track. Yan Ling comes home to find Dr Luo and her son making dinner and discussing care of the hamster. He is making her feel safer in his presence and he feeds her more biased info about the tattoo and her friend. He makes it sound so reasonable. YanLing’s ex is continuing class and fortunately not adept at hunting girls. His gf thinks he’s cheating and in a way it is, but he wants to find out more about what happened to his friend so he has to progress up the ranks to find out more. The class has already taught them how to manipulate photos and various techniques to evaluate women based on their temperament. Right when he’s ready to score his gf calls wanting to know what specifically he’s doing. Feng is changing his tactics for smarter and higher tier socially girls. Ding is not happy that YanLing retaliated by refusing to become part of the committee. He flips it on her and now the school is pressuring her to accept for that 10 million. He has withdrawn his donation unless she is part of the committee. He tells her to ask for it. He is using the same tactics he did when she was young. Both he and her mom blame her for her father’s death. That’s how the uncle got a foot in the door. She remembers it all too well and he knows she won’t tell because she wants to protect her job and her son. He is what Feng will become when he’s old.

1997 Ran is being mocked by He for thinking Song would show up for the bag. There doesn’t seem to be anything valuable enough to get his attention. The two goons casing the cement factory are hilarious when they duck their heads and have the ‘you don’t see me’ act going on when Song’s car leaves the factory. They follow the Mercedes until they see it go into the police station. Ran has a moment of great satisfaction to be proved right. He grabs the bag and heads outside telling He ‘Come on, we’ll be seeing pigs climb trees.”😝🤣they follow the brother in law when he leaves with bag and it turns into a major cluster of a raid, followed up by a car chase. He’s car doesn’t do well off roading.😝The bro in law is talking to someon who knows about MengMeng and the documents. What bro in law forgot is that he stashed them on top of the cupboard and everything is still there. Scene shifts to 2015 and they are asking young officer He is she is assigned to the case of four missing kids. The cot does have an assignment for her, but it is considered a prank and minimal investigation is required. She is very disappointed in her new assignment but when her dad shows up she is even more annoyed. The found child’s mother is wanting help to prove her son’s innocence. Young officer He agrees to help her if she will stop seeing her father in regards to the case. She considers him a huge fraud. Scene goes to 1997 and He’s cpt is yelling at him for duping Song. He is annoyed with officer He failing to gather any evidence. Song wanted 30k for his car getting hit. He is going to track him down. Ran gets updated info that an underground parking lot at YuanLingLi gave a hidden entrance to the building. He and He’s daughter go to check it out and find property manager there. Ran did not question him about the bag but should have, even the little girl recognized a thief when she saw one. I am wondering if the cement is to hide MengMeng. Whatever the property manager thought was in bag turned out to be a bloody something. The episode ends here.

I don’t care for MiYu’s and Ji’s habit of downing whatever proof in a glass when upset. That leaves them both mind muddled and causes doubts later. In HongKong, Tan knew by her draining the glass she was upset. He would not pass up his chance, but he was not completely surprised at the rejection either. MiYu is ashamed of herself because she knew her actions gave him hope and she regretted that choice. When she returned there was an invite from Marcos to a special gathering. Ji was also invited and MiYu made sure they did not arrive as a couple. Her timing was impeccable because right when he was saying her duties prevented her coming she is the lady in red regally walking down the staircase to meet them. Marcos gently bullies Ji to take her dancing and let her know how he feels, but Ji saw Tang’s txt asking to meet and he’s debating what to do with that. He rescues MiYu from an aggressive wannabe dance partner by posing as her partner and again when her sister’s snobby friend shows up calling her Mrs Nie by correcting her that MiYu was unescorted and came by personal invitation from the host himself. MiYu reintroduced herself with her maiden name so ms snob wouldn’t forget it in future. I liked her being shut up and put in her place but MiYu is again slamming down an entire glass. After an impromptu dance she excuses herself and leaves. Ji is rebuffed in his attempt to accompany her home and he assumes she is meeting up with Tang. And here is where he has his glass of liquid courage. After this, there is way too much screen time invested in a montage of prior episode scenes. The end result is a very steamy night where they finally give way to their passion. Diva Duan is caught by chef again in a vulnerable situation and she again decides to sympathize and make him feel better. In spite of the flirtatious challenge at the end, I’m still not feeling it. I really don’t see them as a couple, but I do see them as close friends in spite of his high maintenance spoiled boy ways. They just understand each other for reasons I cannot fathom. I did enjoy her response about depending on mood while she speeds off on motorcycle leaving him stranded. If they ever did become a couple, it would be like the War of Roses movie.😂 When she is not soft and lifting his spirits, they have far too much fun baiting each other. Ms influencer takes a nose dive when popular opinion wants to cancel her. The board wants to kick her out of her own company. Ji is called to the rescue and the press makes it all seem very intimate. Her reaction to his arrival puts him first in her mind and while he said he sorted where they stood, I would have much rather seen that conversation than all the past scenes they wasted time on. MiYu should not have cut him off when he tried to explain. Since she did, she should have stopped the conversation til she cooled off instead of continuing it with her assumptions of where their relationship stood. He has no reason to give about why no txt to let her know an emergency was happening and he would fill her in later. And after the publicity at the book signing, it was a very feeble excuse that he had no idea how much it would blow up in the media. Ms An has returned from maternity leave and instead of taking the office job they all expected her to take she opts to return to the lobby manager position. MiYu has requested a transfer with her job and Mr Tan has asked if he could pursue her right as the episode ends. My only complaint of this episode is that there was too much time wasted on scenes already watched when we were going to get slammed with third party efforts from both sides. First episode for me rolling my eyes at all the extra drama thrown in to completely negate their passionate scene. I still love her character, but I am not enjoying the forced romance and peripheral entanglements when they could just keep it career heavy with a sweet aside of romance with the promise of passion. I cannot even guess where their story is headed now but I am seated and waiting to see even tho I am not happy with the creative choices hauling them in different directions.

There is a childhood flashback for Ran at the beach and two bodies are being recovered. His mom runs up to identify and moves to 1997. There is a mine theft and they are pushing resolution for mind theft items. Ran boldly sticks up for his case and they are given 3 days to complete it. He is using this case to finish his time to get transferred. With his cpt he defends people over stolen items, but with Ran he is pushing the importance of the mine theft case. Ran counters that his parents were missing and ended up dead. The two bodies being recovered in beach scene turn out to be his parents so now not sure who lady was that ran to identify.them. They return to Muse and question the girl that wanted to talk about Xu Meng. Meng Meng’s last night working was being beaten by a business man named Song. Meng Meng was called to replace the original girl and got the brunt of the retaliation for briefcase. The guy kept saying he could make her disappear. Song is scum. MengMeng was forced to blackmail Song to try to get money for her dad. Song got his bro in law to take care of her and he was the one willing to pay knife brother 40k to make the father and daughter disappear. They are supposed to be buried on the mountain and now Song wants the body as proof she is dead. They also keep flashing a bus with Song’s cement company ad on it. The bro in law makes a call and there is an argument about something he’s hidden in his safe. Officer He needs to find a place for his daughter during his work hours and told not to let her have snacks and cokes while there. The time shifts to 2015 and he is handing his daughter a coke. She is angry with her dad and wants him to butt out of the YuanLongli case. Saved by Ran at the door. He is now retired and Ran left so all their collected evidence landed up at He’s house. Ran is told He’s daughter now has the case and shows him his room. There is a whiteboard with all the key players outlined and a mess of an evidence room with Ran’s ledger up top. He reads a couple pages and it points to YuanLongli International Garden. The scene returns to 1997 with him visiting the local lady he likes. Ran returns the shoes and plant and leaves quickly because of the snoopy staffer in hallway. In the elevator he was all ready to spread the tea how she was a kept mistress and the old man that owned the place died falling down stairs. He sees her as a gold digger that stole an old man’s property. Ran finally sees the doors of the clinic. The hallway of rooms are divided with merchants on one side and Pattio dorms on the other. Ran takes the Pattia dorm side and finds MengMengs work nameplate. A young boy getting into stuff during summer holiday leads them to the seamstress’ room. She is right across from room 1703 where Mr Song keeps his mistress. She lets Ran know he is home and we see the bro in law taking cases of cigarettes out of his safe and throwing them into a travel bag. He is just getting ready to toss in the briefcase with documents when Ran shows up at the door. He hides them on top of a bookcase. There is cute interaction between He and daughter that is interrupted by Ran wanting him to come back. Ran wants to keep the bag as bait and tells officer He that the guy they want will come to them when episode ends.

Still in 1997 and He gets it right in the face with red paint.😂 he is coated head to toe. Ran is the surprise because he pulled a gun and shot in the air. That stops them in their tracks and interrogation begins. I have not seen a spiked bat like the one had before. They are thug wannabes who are trying to make their criminal mark collecting debts. For now it is more a show since the father and daughter are not there to collect from. They know the daughter is indebted because of dad’s medical bills but they don’t know what illness to track it down. It is a laugh out loud moment watching the first few mins as the paint hits and tempers rise. The two officers have a good sense of comedic timing and it’s just fun watching it. When leaving, He confronts Ran about the gun who uses it for the sound effects.😂🤣There was another fun interaction of He and his daughter. She is precocious and likes his new hair style. 😂 It skips to a scene with her in 2015 She has put in for field work and her cpt wants her to use that energy to look after her father.😝🙄 She is wasted sitting around doing nothing. There are 4 more missing children and he slinks off pretending to be too busy to further respond about her application. There is a mystery fortune teller that has been the only one to locate any of the missing kids. So young officer He heads their way to find out more. In the building there’s a whole lot of empty because it is being prepped for demolition. He notes the red tricycle missing and wants to investigate but Ran is staring at a vacated apartment door. He left for Beijing and the pretty local girl moved without telling him. He asks about what happened and the clock is turned back to 1997 again. Officer He isn’t happy to still be teamed with Ran. They are chasing down Xu Meng’s relatives and it reveals a sad story. There was a serious accident on a mountain that caused the father’s health decline. With no means of good income, the daughter had become a money pit to the family and resorted to adult themed work. A cousin lending her money had a falling out with his fiancée and he never got married. The aunt admitted happiness that her brother was missing. It’s not that they don’t care about him. But they see him as having no quality of life and all their money is going to keep him in that condition with no real hope of him getting better. Another lead goes to the loan shark that has an adult video shop. The officers get minimal clues from him and the owner of shop is later threatened by another knife guy when time shifts again to 2015. He and Ran discover a room that has accumulated all the missing items from the floors they explored. While they are discussing things they hear cries for help and run upstairs. Two vagrants are found and the missing boy is coming at them with a kitchen cleaver. As the boy is being hauled off, He is yelling for Ran and Ran is nowhere to be seen. The officers arriving tell the daughter to take him home and look after him while they investigate. He continues to yell for Ran as he is taken away from the scene. Time shifts back to 1997. Ran and He raid a small gambling joint to get the gang leader who promptly denies knowing anything about such a small debter. Ran gets a bit beat up being the leader this time. He runs pretty fast and ya had to appreciate him finding the leader with the clues he was given. 😂 He then goes to dumb and dumber demanding to know why they led the cops straight to him. The episode ends with a guy cleaning up a car and finding brain splatter on the window. Note to self, ostrich plume duster does not remove it from window.😝The car leaves the parking garage for undisclosed destination. I am enjoying the puzzle pieces from both timelines. It puts figuring things out on a whole different level.

MiYu has a full write up of the school exam project and tries to give it to Mr Bai who totally rejects the idea without looking at it. At the board meeting everybody is out of ideas and Mr Bai actually brings MiYu’s idea up. Ji is seeing opportunity but Mr Bai can’t really answer any in depth questions about the project. He finally admits it was a group effort and runs out to get MiYu.😂 He is biased against her because of his fave employee, but I got to give him credit at wanting to butter up the boss more than have a grudge, MiYu presents her idea and when sales dept tried to stymie her with details she backed it up with common sense management. He finally had to back off and her idea was going to be implemented. ZhenZhen does not want the lobby to get credit so she burns herself out working overtime to have contracts ready for all phases of project. I don’t like her, but she really came through for the hotel with her efforts. What she did not come through for was her family. They did a good job of making Nie look like death warmed over. He presents himself now like a man realizing the consequences of his self indulgence. He no longer expects support from his wife and understands there is no time for little boy comforts. His mother forgets all she wanted was grandchild from ZhenZhen. So she can’t whine and complain that the corporate woman refuses to fall in line with the cooking cleaning and babying husband. She does not consider any of these things in her purview. While the two women are battling verbally ZhenZhen starts bleeding and is rushed to the hospital. They do not reveal gender but do say the child is in NICU. It is worrisome that she wants to transfer hospitals. For what purpose? To escape the mother or to leave husband and child to the mother? She is looking spent from childbirth and finds herself alone with no visitors while husband and mother in law are with the baby. She wants everybody to stay in their own lanes so it will be interesting to see the results of that choice. Duan has caught wind of the project and decides to implement it in his family’s hotel first. He even wines and dines ms influencer to top off his thievery. 😝He thinks he has things set up to demolish MiYu’s plans and wants to see Ji fail in a big way. Duan is kind of an empty character. No idea has been from his efforts or energy. He should actually go for sponsoring a gaming team because that is where most of his energy goes. 😝He is not even a cute incorrigible. He is a spoiled diva that thinks money and currying favor are the only means of conducting business. He is surrounded by sycophants rather than friends and truly has a rather empty life devoid of real purpose. Zhen Zhen worked very hard to be on livestream but now she is in hospital and it falls to MiYu to be the hotel rep on livestream. They do not discover Duan’s sabotage until too late to change things.

Duan gets ahold of MiYu’s idea and not only steals it, he manages to get ms influencer on board with his hotel. Ji encourages MiYu to trust him. He goes along with Duan’s family hotel going first and explains why to MiYu. He saw a celebrity entering their hotel and knew that those events would be in direct conflict with the school schedule. In very few minutes their 25 rooms invested are sold and MiYu finds herself on air. She had taken notes while the other hotel’s rep stumbled with questions, so when she got on air she addressed them thoroughly. She also sold out 200 rooms.🥳 Ji has plans with MiYu but they are interrupted by lady influencer trying to mark her territory. It is an awkward meal and even more awkward when Ji leaves like a trained puppy to get dessert leaving the two women alone. MiYu is put on the spot by the manipulative women but holds her own. She is gone by the time Ji returns and he flags her down trying to assure her what his intentions were with ms influencer. MiYu basically tells him to get his own house in order before he tries to be interested in her.👏🏻 I have to admit to a lot of satisfaction as Duan had his diva meltdown. He was beat at his own game and then got a tongue lashing from daddy too. He is having a crappy night and for whatever reason chef is delivering his food. She gives him some sympathy and leaves him with his dinner. These two would make great colleagues whether opposite or same side. They have similar impish dispositions in how they approach life and work. I still hope whole heartedly that Rui is end game because diva Duan is not grown up enough for her. Chef has the cooking skills and Rui could handle business side so they perfectly complement work wise. Everything is very busy with the school project and other than one family demanding an executive suite things are going smoothly for the number of people going through. That all changes when the same obnoxious mom demanding an executive room is now complaining about a lost valuable. She is loud, rude and physical. 😝MiYu arrives in time to rescue the employee and calm the loud mom down. Her son is missing his hearing aid and she blames the staff for its loss. The search is on to find it before the exam next day.

In 1997, knife brother gives a reasonable rendering of what he was guilty of and what not. However, his conversation with brother indicated he was hired to get rid of the two and would be paid 40k upon completion. He received 10k up front. There is another witness who says he saw the girl with blue shoes. The only thing confirmed is that the two missing persons were seen heading for an illegal clinic in the building. The samples were tested and the cigarettes were knife brother’s but the blood samples were all from the chickens. No human blood discovered. Ran gets the I told you so look from He. There now is a skip to 2015. They are looking through the building and He keeps pointing out things from the unresolved case. Ran is getting annoyed not seeing any connection. For once He is the one thinking there is a connection between the two cases that needs investigated. He shows Ran the keepsake tin of knife brother. What is very weird and interesting is that all the items inside are in the same condition they were in 1997. This puzzles them but Ran is ready to leave and get his class schedules completed. He wants him to finish going through the building first and Ran reluctantly agrees. They find the old apartment of the man that saw blue shoe lady. What is odd here is that he was very invested in his detective stories and all his books were left behind. There is a blood covered witness watching them from behind the wall which seems to be the missing boy. He looks terrified but not making his presence known. Then a return to 1997. Ran wants in the criminal division and He wants out of it. Ran manages to get a referral from He for a spot.😂 He takes Ran to a night market to get less cop like clothes. What is sweet is he gets replacement items for the local he accidentally cut with glass from fallen pane. They go to meet an informant and she turns out to be a pretty girl in the massage industry. I think Ran wished he were in his old clothes for this interview.😂 She is very flirty but does have a nickname for the missing girl. She also is pleasantly surprised when Ran returns her lost family photo. They are referred to a foot massage place called Muse. The raid was a bit of a cluster with Ran getting to sample the foot water.😂 They did learn her real name was Xu Meng and they found family photos including a clear photo of her and her dad. The apartment had been deserted a while with spoiled food as evidence. A wall was removed for mysterious reasons and the episode ends with a shower of red paint. Things are taking an interesting turn.
