Title Guardians of the Dafeng Spoiler
Glad I watched this knowing there's a season 2 coming otherwise I would have lost my marbles.Struggled a bit with…
(...) Qi An could have killed the Emperor. He's a piece of filth. No wonder he no longer wanted to be part of the Guardians. Serving that piece of crap? No way. The last 4 episodes were really frustrating, not meaning it was bad, but lots of things made me want to break my screen. Also the plot-twist at the end... Doesn't it mean that Qi An's father is a mass murderer?
As for Wei, I don't believe that ending. I hope in season 2 Qi An goes back before that happens on top of the whole memory loss thing... I don't really understand were the story is gonna move from now on... Basically they turned 2 major villains into Qi An's allies and given what both these characters did, I don't see how HE could work with them, no matter how much they argue their case. I also don't see how Qi An can go back to being a Guardian given what happened but I can see him getting back to the weird Heaven association which name I forgot... They basically protect Dafeng from the shadows and that would suit him better than serving that crappy Emperor that deserves a thousand deaths.
I'm just very sad his whole family forgot him...They added some very needed light and comedy to his life and the drama ( the little girl was just too adorable for words) so I hope they remain in the second season.

Glad I watched this knowing there's a season 2 coming otherwise I would have lost my marbles.

Struggled a bit with the tonal shift at the end... It turned pretty dark for such a light hearted drama (well some stories weren't happy but the overall tone remained pretty light)... understandble plot-wise but I wasn't expected it and it sort of... left me feeling a bit depressed...

I wish ... [Spoiler]

Honestly, best role for Dylan Wang, 100/10 all the way... in spite of the most frustrating ending EVER. I haven't felt this frustrated with an ending since "My Journey to You" BUT at least I know this one will get a sequel, so for now my mind is a bit more at peace.

It's gonna be difficult to top this one for sure.

Smh reading some comments...Like are people okay...Here is a quick rundown for Age and Grooming Police, Critic…
The actor is major so their real age gap is non-relevant to this discussion.

HOWEVER the whole theme of the drama revolves around their age gap so having discussions on the subject is a given.

The issue would be more if the drama wasn't addressing the age gap + the circumstances under which both characters met which doesn't seem to be the case.

The Auntie that I am will hold her judgement based on how the story is told once I've watched the drama.

PS: Be thankful for the grooming police, when I was young it was perfectly "normal" for photographs to take naked pictures of 13 year-old and be lauded for it in the name of "art" or sexualizing girls the same age and featuring them in ads and movies with grown ass men. This although more rarely also happened to young boys. So nope, the grooming police is not gonna go away.

Really curious as to how they're going to sell this one.

When I was 25, I went back to university... I was attending it with literally ALL my classmates, 18 years old, fresh out of high school.

IT WAS HELL. When you've already studied, worked and basically got some life experience under your belt... the immaturity was hard to bear on a daily basis. I managed 6 months and fortunately for me, I managed to pass my civil servant exam that I was preparing on the side and didn't continue.

That was "only" a 7 years gap. Every time I see 30ish people trying to hit on people who are 10 years younger, for me, it's obvious they're lacking some brain cells and no one their age wants them which is why they prey on the young ones.

But the opposite does happen occasionaly. One of my former boss's best friend, a man now in his 60s who was married with kids got hit on by one of his students, a man 30 years younger, 10 years ago... So he must have been around 50, and his now 10-year-old partner in his 20s back then ( yes he divorced and left his wife for a man 30 years younger but that's a whole other debate).

For me it can only work if the younger one is the one pursuing the oldest, otherwise it just seems very predatory.

On a personal level, due to my own experience, as a 39 year old woman, I just can't for the life of me even imagine going out with somebody who's even 10 years younger, if I was even more honest, even 5 years is difficult to imagine.... and having a younger brother 3 years younger doesn't help. On paper, somebody who's 29 should have enough life experience so the relationship should be relatively balanced but my God...

A millenial and a Gen Z? That's A LOT of just cultural differences. My generation grew mostly without internet and social networks, the other literally can't live without it.

For those who've seen the first episodes, how much is the age gap in the drama?

PS: Btw I see lots of comments regarding the fact that the actress doesn't look 40... She looks 40 ish to me though... But I'll give you that, past the age of 30, we all age very differently depending on lots of factors and people tend to associate 40 with wrinkles and botox. If you've protected your skin from the sun and haven't had lots of major weight changes, apart from losing the fat on your face, you don't have lots if any wrinkles at that age. You can easily pass for somebody in their 30s. Happens to me all the time until people notice the few white hairs in my head ( which I don't color because I personally won't fight against my age thank you very much).

PS2: It's coming to Viki

I'm bracing myself for a 2028 release to avoid any dissapointment.
Hopefully they film season 2 to 4 in one go so that we don't have to wait 1000 years for the rest of the story.

I don't know how he's gonna feel when he finds out she's not married for real.
I spoiled myself the scene where Seon U who could have told the truth still lies in order to keep the charade longer. Sadly he's acting as I expected... to a T.

SFL should give up and move on. Even if he has a change of heart, she'll only be getting the crumbs. If she has an once of dignity, she'll leave this man alone. She deserves better.

You have a point but regardless I agree with Aramintai's comment above. They should have shown that the longing is not one-sided because it sure feels like it.

I'm betting he's threatening Da Rim of exposing the fact that she's not married and Jun is not her child.

In the preview for episode 9, it seems that Darim doesn't realize that Jihyeok already knows about his fake marriage.…
Nah I think it's clear she knows he knows. She clearly asks for him to listen to her explanation.

Yeah...
I'm going to wait until next week to binge episode 7 to 10.

You know this drama is the ultimate fantasy of the guy being more into the girl... Gotta be honest, as a heterosexual woman, I like it... up to a certain point.

But here, we're past the halfway mark, and the only person that's been truly tortured in this (inexistant) relationship is Ji Hyeok... And I'm getting tired. Don't get me wrong, I still like the drama BUT, I think the writer has been too sadistic towards the ML and way too lenient toward the FL so I really really hope she experiences PAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
and LOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNGINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG for at least 2 to 3 episodes and Ji Hyeok doesn't give her a free pass too easily. Because, so far, we've not been given enough reasons to forgive her.

Based on the preview, Da Rim is finally getting a taste of her own medicine and Ji Hyeok's mum is finally growing some well-needed ba***
So hopefully we're getting in that direction... and please bring back the fun by episode 12... I'd like my Christmas to be feel-good and not angsty. Thank you.

I don't know how he's gonna feel when he finds out she's not married for real.
Sadly it would be better if she told him the truth... but for dramatic effect, I think they're planning on making sure he learns it from either Seon U or Ha Yeong or both...

Well we'll know in an hour or so ^^ Depending on the end of the episode and the preview, which I'm going to check, I'll see if I manage to resist until next week to binge everything 😈

PS: Yeah for the house thing... Being introverted to the extreme, I really don't want to inflige that upon myself ( Introverted... not shy though. People tend to mix both and though it's true the majority of introverted people are also shy and/or reserved, I belong to that small minority that is often taken for being extroverted which also leads to its own sets of problems).

but now you know it exists, lol. that's literally the purpose.
I would have known either way when the drama would soon come out... You can already check the most anticipated upcoming dramas and there's also youtube channels talking about whatever drama is soon to come out. This is just utter stupidity.

I was just utterly annoyed, then forgot this drama existed again, showing how useless this fake review was, and got reminded of it because of your answer...

I don't know how he's gonna feel when he finds out she's not married for real.
1. HA! I'm going to try... We'll see if I succeed LATER. But for now, the previews are enough.

2. I guess points of views vary depending on your culture. I know my mum took care of her siblings diapers when they were babies as well. When some of her cousins and sisters had their own, my mum told me that they expected HER to take care of their babies diapers even when they were available. Her refusal to do so as well as other stuffs such as cooking for their parties and whatnot, led them to cut her from their circle.

Clearly my mum was only there to be the family's slave. Needless to say, when I got a very well-paid job ( which I quit since but that's another story), all the aunts and cousins wanted to crash in my apartment (which is IN Paris). Hadn't heard from them for over 10 years. Moved 5 times on my own without any help from the family ( my parents moved 10 000kms away when I turned 19 so not available)... Needless to say, I already saw where this was leading.

Told my mum to tell them my apartment wasn't their hotel and that I liked my peace and quiet. Family culture be damned. Dunno how she told them, because due to the classic "culture thingy" ( In fact I pile them up in my case, I come from a Muslim family with mixed origins including Malagasy and Yemeni) you have to remain polite.

Oh... Yeah. Obviously, I was supposed to say it, but since I told my mum I would do it "my way", she got afraid and told them instead. Well, I never got bothered since so she probably did a great job. She was probably afraid we wouldn't have any family members left if I opened my mouth I guess. I've never been really good with all the tradition BS.

3. For Da Rim, most of the empathy I've lost is also for the same reason. It's just too unfair for ji Hyeok and this situation is long overdue... I hope she gets a GOOD TASTE of her own medecine. She needs to grovel a LOT because the poor guy deserves better.

Hence the fact that I'd rather wait until his (rightful) anger is resolved because I'm sure it's gonna be veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy paintful even if I think Da Rim deserves whatever is coming 1000%.

I don't know how he's gonna feel when he finds out she's not married for real.
Hmm... Can't agree with the part with Seon U though. The fact that Da Rim wanted him to play her husband is only because he was the only man in her life she could ask that. I think it's pretty obvious even to him it had nothing to do with him being seen as a man by her.

We don't know exactly when the kid's mom left and even then I don't really see why taking care of the diapers should be Da Rim's responsibility in the first place. She's his friend, not his wife.

Unless it's an urgency, I'm sorry I'm not gonna take care of the sh*** on your kid's a***.

Also it's not that she didn't know how to do it. She actually performed well, it's just that the diapers were rigged, so she can't be blamed for that either.

We haven't seen lots of interactions with Da Rim and Seon U's son, but it's very obvious from the few things we've seen that the son is used to her. He's too used to her and hence underappreciative of how important she is in his life as is the case with lots of kids. They jump on the novelty and the novelty here is the pretty noona.
I don't mean that Ha Yeong doesn't appreciate the child but that how important Da Rim is in Seon U and the child's life shouldn't be underestimated. Da Rim is the noona living below, he's used to her, also she's not trying to hit on his father so she's not wearing the fancy clothes and makeup, obviously the kid is gonna be more into Ha Yeong.
Which is very easy when you don't really know people.

I'm surprised your empathy level is higher for Seon U than for Da Rim ^^ You're sure in the minority for that one.

For the sister, I have no opinion at present. I haven't watched episode 7 just the preview for episode 8... I'm going to try and resist watching episode 7 and 8 (except for the previews) in order to binge episode 7 to 10 next week (hopefully).

I just can't bear the angst.

I have never been in a such dilemma about whether I want to watch a drama or not. A very mixed feeling actually.…
Personally I read the Webtoon Summary posted in the forum and have decided I won't bother. This drama is not for me UNLESS they change some things regarding Ah Jin's character or at least the ending which is why I occasionally silently pop up here.

Waiting for Saturday's finale to see if I should watch this.

I don't blame seon u for trying to hold onto darim. He has his own flaws and they're not bigger than darim, jihyuk…
The problem is not only the pay but rather having the chance to finally get a proper job and not piling up small jobs on top of small jobs wearing yourself out. If you've gone through that hell you'd understand the lie.

She should definitely have told the truth by now, but honestly the getting the job part is understandable especially in this economy.

I don't know how he's gonna feel when he finds out she's not married for real.
Personally I don't dislike her mostly because I think she's completely oblivious of the consequences of her actions... which doesn't excuse them, let's be clear about it.

For Seon U though... I have no empathy because he's using her situation to her advantage. Case in point, he asked SFL not to tell Da Rim that she's in on the secret. Why? He says he doesn't want her to blow their cover since she's not good with acting but the truth is, he wants Da Rim and not her and he doesn't want Da Rim to make any opening for SFL.
Given her personality, she would make sure to push these two together if she thought SFL knew, since she only sees him as a friend and as a friend, want him to find somebody else especially since she probably think it would be better for him and his son.

If he truly had a crush, he would have refused her point blanck. They have a 20 year-old friendship between them, they literally know everything about each other so there's absolutely nothing to hide... which was also Seon U's problem. How to shake that comfortable relation they've established between them without making Da Rim on the defensive and this situation provided the perfect excuse.

You can be sure that that punch in the preview is gonna lead to Seon U telling Ji Hyeok, that he doesn't care that they're not married because HE is gonna be Da Rim's man anyway and tell Ji Hyeok to go get married with his chaebol fiancée. Let He and Da Rim get back to their normal lives instead of bringing them into their Chaebol mess.

Anyway
My current Empathy level:

Ji Hyeok: 1 000 000%

SFL (can't remember her name for the life of me): 70%. After all she wanted the marriage first. She didn't care that Ji Hyeok didn't want it when she initially agreed so basically, she doesn't give a sh*** as long as she gets what she wants... which is a personally trait that I utterly dislike so here goes.

Da Rim: 50% (There's still mama's hospital bill + not wanting to go back to cumulating jobs... and I can relate VERY hard to that having gone through the same thing)

Seon U: He gets 10%... because his love is doomed anyway and I understand he understands the boat is sailing and he is trying desperatly to hold on to it... so... yeah... I feel a bit for him.

I don't know how he's gonna feel when he finds out she's not married for real.
Personally I'm voting for 2 episodes of pure angst. I mean she literally played with his trauma, it honestly can't get any worse. Also, seeing the end of episode 7, all that mess could have been avoided if Da Rim had been honest from the start and hadn't bail out of him... He wouldn't have agreed with the marriage in the first place.

Now because of one lie, they'reall in a huge mess.
Honestly, I feel mostly sorry for Ji Hyeok and the annoying SFL at this point. If it wasn't for Da Rim's lie, the situation would be far less messy.
The moment he brandished his black card to get rid of her debt, she should have been honest with him. Now he's gonna feel not only betrayed since everybody knew except him but also the weeks of mental torture?

HA. Good Luck.

I understand why Da Rim did it... But as usual, she waited too long to admit her lie and now everything is blowing up. She honestly has a lot to make up to the ML.

Of course, because he's a lost cause, he'll forgive her eventually ( hence my 2 episodes angst prediction - ep 9 and 10) BUT since there's the whole marriage thing to save his mum... Who knows how much angst we're gonna get until the final ep...😭😭😭
