It's interesting how Han Hyo Joo is supposed to be this Korean working abroad ( her childhood self as well as her mother in the drama are very obviously Japanese though but I digress) yet she's acting with all the typical mannerisms I've seen in literally ALL Japanese dramas. It's a weird directing choice because apart from her face, it makes her feel more like a Japanese than a Korean woman.
Otherwise, her Japanese is very good! Slightly slow and her "z" sleeps often into "j", very typical since the "z" doesn't exist in Korean, but it is very discreet. I'm impressed.
Otherwise being half-way. It's a cozy comedy. Not the best I've seen but very cute, very Japanese flavored. Probably gonna rate this one 8/8.5. It's one of these cute comforting show you watch with a mug of hot chocolate and a warm blanket without thinking too much. เณโโฉ๐ตเฟ:๐งโฟป๐ฎโจ
Beware though if you're not familiar with female characters in Japanese dramas... Han Hyo Joo's acting may trigger you, as she's startled all the time for no reason. It's aligned with her character's personality but to be honest, most female characters in J dramas are always startled and overly shy especially in romantic comedies.
It's not a Han Hyo Joo problem, it's a Japanese acting style and it can be pretty annoying if you're not used to it as female characters always are a bit childish which seems to play into that "innocence" thing Japanese are pretty fond of. I will never understand this obsession with making adult women behave like kids... but you sort of get used to at some point.
Namping seemed more concerned with his hair in that last episode NC scene than being in actual character which…
I think it was more a way to cope with how awkward he felt during this scene... which is understandable but in that case either don't sign up for a BL because NC scenes have literally become a requisite in Thai BLs now...
OR if you're bound by contract, that was the production's job to make sure to have enough time to coach both actors BEFORE they had to film... Not everybody is at ease with filming these type of scenes and it does require quite a fair amount of self-confidence. Something Namping clearly lacked which made me deeply annoyed in spite of pitying him.
Lol. Don't self-censor. You can just block people from the opinion police. I totally get your comment, but you…
Lol I understand ^^It's more an ongoing process. Well your choice. As said, in my case I've blocked the most toxic members. Not to say that I never encounter people calling me hater... But usually these people are just throwing a little sentence and go away. They don't go into full bullying mode... Even if they do, I don't bother reading the whole thing and they're automatically blocked. ๐
Sometimes I tell them I don't care, sometimes I don't because I've got other things to do then have the last word... which seems to trigger some people which are then blocked.
As said... I've blocked about 60 people... And some are fake accounts... That's not that many, once you start to do it progressively ^^
Loved the story n execution of this one. It was a bit boring for me in the start, I almost gave up by episode…
Lol. Don't self-censor. You can just block people from the opinion police. I totally get your comment, but you need to learn not to care. We're social beings, we need to express ourselves. Otherwise, we just tend to get frustrated.
Also once you've blocked enough people, you'll see MDL is actually a fun place to be once you've filtered out the trash. The only issues are:
1. The anti-fans or fans who create fake accounts specifically to downvote or upvote shows or post fake reviews ( great use of their time I say).
2. Those who just can't own up to their own opinions and don't want to "pollute" their main accounts. Some of them belong to the "I don't tolerate negativity" police and use their main account to bully people in saying only "positive things". Honestly they're the worst.
Anyway... The issue with these fake accounts is that they grow like mushrooms, and it's impossible to block them all... otherwise you're gonna reach the 100 persons limit pretty fast. This being said, I must have blocked about 60 people on MDL (some of them fake accounts)... which honestly makes most of my navigation way more pleasant. And you don't have to only block people who interact with you. Whenever I see one member that I find extremely rude/annoying etc. even if I'm not part of the conversation, I preemptively block that person. I can already know this person is not worth interacting with, so I can just anticipate.
I recommend you start to do the same, instead of censoring yourself. People are also interested in negative opinions especially on popular shows since they're more difficult to find. Just sayin'
Lol... With everyone mentioning the cameo, I ended up spoiling myself and heading straight to the end to see what this was all about.
And all I have to say is:
1. Why?
2. It's an interesting choice for sure. One is currently embroiled in a cheating scandal and the other dude divorced his previous wife without telling her what he intended to do... Talk about being a duet of douchebags. I like them both as actors though, but on a personal level I'm not really sure they're the best people to be around.
Now of course, their personal lives have nothing to do with this drama... However!
I can't help but find the idea of using both of them, given their personal history, in this useless random cameo in a ROMANTIC comedy quite ironic ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Maybe it was a private joke from the Director.๐๐๐
I'm one of the people stick with the show only for the second couple. I couldn't agree more about how bland namping…
We're of one mind on that... I think there's also a huge difference between people watching live and people watching the episodes after everything' s been released. Since there's not as much room for speculations and theorizing, I think people tend to watch the show with a cooler head and tend to be less lenient regarding its flows.
I've bought the Thai books as they were on sale but I really do hope, Khemjira is better written in the original source.
SL is definitely a tragic character and generally helps heroes but he also violates personal boundaries. He blatantly…
OH My! Yes I watched it. Sadly I didn't like it like as much as the majority... I didn't like the FL, didn't like the couple... I haven't written a review so I don't remember the specifics but once thing is I loved the dangerous atmosphere the ML had at the start but then it almost completely disappeared and we scarcely saw him being "evil" during most of the show.
Nah my type of red flag is more like Prince Annan in Shadow Love... I see it's on the list of shows you're planning to watch so not gonna say anything...BUUUUUUUUUT one of the biggest disappointment for me was that we spent very little time with Prince Annan... He should have been the MVP of that show.
Also Tantai Jin in Till the End of the Moon or Dongfang Qing Cang in Love Between Fairy and Devil ... Basically outwardly bad and menacing but with a heart of Gold. Also I enjoy when both leads want to kill each other before they develop any form of romantic attachment. That makes everything spicier ๐คช
In When Destiny Brings the Demon, the FL is this happy go lucky girl, that just wants to sleep and eat... That removes a lot of the sexual tension to me. Nothing better than seeing two menacing individuals trying to get at each other's throat before making out...
Sorry. Personal fictional kink speaking here ๐.
SL is definitely a tragic character and generally helps heroes but he also violates personal boundaries. He blatantly…
I don't disagree with your comment you know... But I still can't dislike him... If I'm gonna be honest I liked him more than Ji Bo Zai... Probably because I have a weakness for fictional red flags but that's another story ๐
Situ ling wasnโt really 'hated' if you exactly use that term ( unlike other hated sml of this year chu zhao, chu…
Oh yeah true... I was SO GLAD when Run Yu got rid of the empress... I hated her SO MUCH she ruined the show for me. Most evil character I had seen in a while...
Also yeah... I cheered each time Situ Ling offed one of his brother... I wish they had groveled a bit before dying but you can't have everything ๐คก
I'm glad I've decided to not watch it as it aired though. Knowing myself, I would have turned obsessed and would have spent most of my time in the comment section... which is problematic when you have to self-discipline as a self-employed person working from home...
I've learned my lesson the hard way this year, so now I WAIT until everything is released... If I get back to working in an office, that might change though :D
Glad we both loved this drama. One of the best this year so far ๐
EDIT: Btw I edited my rating... It's 9.5 now. Because they did my Situ Ling dirty so I need to remove half a point. ๐
SL is definitely a tragic character and generally helps heroes but he also violates personal boundaries. He blatantly…
I just finished it ^^ Sorry... I could never see him as fully evil even at the end... For me he just succumbed to the evil netherbeasts... His true self was never bad. I'm truly sad they killed him. I know he did some irredeemable things... But I never got annoyed let alone angry at him... I was just sad for him from start to finish. Honestly his father, brothers and Mu Qi Bai were WAY WAY worse in my opinion and their end wasn't as tragic.
It was P.E.R.F.E.C.T The only thing I didn't like was how it ended with Situ Ling. I think the show did him dirty but I'm not gonna hold it against the show...
Now I think I might need to watch other genres from other countries to get past the withdrawal symptoms... because I need to "digest" so to speak... If I start another Wuxia right now, I fear that no matter how good it is, I won't be able to properly enjoy it.
Also. I just want to say Dark Situ Ling was hot.๐ฅต๐ฅต๐ฅต
Situ ling wasnโt really 'hated' if you exactly use that term ( unlike other hated sml of this year chu zhao, chu…
SO... Just finished it! I'm sorry. I could never hate Situ Ling. He was never truly evil.. Honestly, I'm very sad the drama didn't even give him a way out. He had a shitty father, and shitty brothers, an inferiority complex and the only person he ever loved just never saw him that way... Even when he turned to the dark side, he could never truly bring himself to hurt Ming Yi...
I wasn't even mildly irritated at any moment. I was just sad for him... His death broke my heart... I know there was no going back but how could I hate him? It reminds me of Ashes of Love where although I was PISSED as Run Yu as soon as he turned to the dark side... I could never hate him and I was sad at how lonely he felt by the end... But at least he was alive and rekindled his relationship with his younger brother... He was just a kind soul that was destroyed by external circumstances... In my head, in later years, Run Yu finally moved on from his first love...
Here I wasn't pissed even one second... I'm just sad for Situ Ling... Everybody got a happy ending ( though honestly Ji Bo Zai got a shitty father, I think he would have been better staying an orphan) but he didn't deserve to end in such a tragic way...
... ... ...
Also on as a side note, Dark Situ Ling was HOT. ๐คฃ
This may be possible in SK, but I think Disney is more likely to wait out KSH's scandal and release it should…
It is quite impressive indeed... But also extremely costly in terms of electric consumption. How much energy have been spent to produce a couple of seconds of viable videos?
Nah I'm thinking more about using that deep fake technology to replace the face of an actor when needed. Otherwise... I'm pretty much anti AI to be honest. People are always saying it's a tool. But a tool is something you use, not something that does things in your place.
Not gonna go on a full rant here... but aside from all the discussion about energy cost, loss of work or whatever... When you don't exercise, you put on weight, you get tired just by going up a couple of stairs, you age badly etc... not mentioning the fact that exercising releases dopamine and is important for maintaining one's mental health You physically feel that your body is deteriorating... But for the brain?
Sure people complain about struggling to focus... but at that point nobody has any idea about how much damage not exercising one's brain cells is gonna do on the long terms.
There's lots of studies that have shown that people who are multilingual tend to be less affected by Alzheimer diseases and that in general learning new things your whole life is the best way to prevent or at least heavily reduce the symptoms of Alzeimer. Yet if from a very young age you're already using AI to write your essays... Well. I already know where this is going. I've seen some students complaining that they're not using AI since they wrote their essays themselves and only used AI for the outline... But the outline is the most difficult part, it's the whole reasoning you're letting the machine do in your place.
What's the point of learning to draw, if AI does the drawing better than you? What's the point of learning a language if AI can translate for you? What's the point of thinking yourself if the machine does it for you etc? This is a recipe to create a world full of depressed people.
Sorry I went on a full rant... But the bottom line is... I'm all for it for some very specific tasks that would just be annoying and boring for humans to do... But if these machines are removing any form of fun or intellectual challenge from our work, I say no.
I want to have human work, made by humans for humans. I have absolutely no interest in anything AI made especially given how much of of an environmental disaster it is.
