While a character does not need to dominate screen time to achieve proper character development, his situation in RB was so extreme. The supporting cast receives far more screen time than he does. How can a character develop when he appears for only 3 minutes in a 45-minute episode? His total screen time is actually shorter than the drama's opening and ending credits.

It’s infuriating to watch him pour his heart and soul into a character, only to be sidelined by bad editing and blatant favoritism. We can't help feeling protective because we know how hard he works, but C-Ent's industry politics are just exhausting.

China really needs laws to stop production teams and writers from drastically altering scripts after actors sign their contracts. It seems to happen more often than it should in C-Ent. I remember a top male star just dealt with this, and his fans caused enough of a stir to push his agency to withdraw him from the drama. He didn't withdraw, but at least the production apologized. But that’s a luxury only huge stars with strong backing have. For smaller artists with weak and ineffective agencies, they’re basically trapped. They either swallow the unfair script changes or face a devastating breach-of-contract lawsuit.

I really feel bad for Zheyuan because this isn't the first time this has happened to him, and it seems like it's going to happen again with FS.

It also makes zero sense for producers to cast a male lead only to heavily favor the second male lead with extra screen time. If that was the goal, just hire the SML actor as the main character from the start. It would save everyone the hassle of script rewrites and keep the storyline from turning into a total mess. Case in point: RB and FS. 👀
