I might be wrong, but it feels like all these popularity charts, along with Weibo and Douyin likes, can be bought and manipulated. At the end of the day, it all just seems like a manufactured strategy to drive a bandwagon effect.

Unfortunately, the leads always end up taking the blame when a drama falls flat, regardless of behind-the-scenes issues.

I completely agree. Casting the second male lead as Ao Chi and giving Zi Miao to a rising actor would have completely prevented this mess. I really don't know how the C-Ent industry works, but I think this is not the first time an SML's role gets beefed up at the expense of the ML. It's frustrating, to say the least.
