This show was a whole mixed bag of emotions for me and I’m not sure if I like it!!

I became a huge fan of Wu Jin Yan after watching her in “The Double”. She is quite adept at portraying complicated characters, so I was expecting something along the same lines from this show. Fortunately, she didn’t disappoint and her character growth was as anticipated. The one who surprised was actually Chen Zhe Yuan. This was my first time watching him and I was left pleasantly impressed by his stoic portrayal of an Emperor who is trying to gain control from his nefarious, corrupt court members. Both main leads toe a fine line, so the storytelling is quite crisp and tight. The pacing might seem odd in some places but the leads as well as the supporting couples keep you pretty invested in this storyline which is full of plots and schemes. At the most, you won’t feel bored because you never know which antagonist is going to pull a new stunt along the way!!
