Just watched episode 13 and these are my thoughts: This man needs to learn to think before talking, he kept spewing poison at Flora without thinking how it will feel. The irony is that you see he's kinda treating her the same way his dad treated him, as if he doesn't have a mind of his own and can't think for himself. The flashback made me sad, the dad in a twisted way probably thought he's "loving" his son by wanting to dictate his every step and Luke is also subconsciously continuing the cycle, i dont think that's who he wants to be but rather its because that'srhe environment he was raised in and he would have to unlearn this and what's nice about him is that he's teachable and willing to listen to sound advise. Also an hourable mention to Luke's bestie, he's such a good and wise friend.
Luke will have you pissed/shocked and laughing hysterically over how he just opens his mouth and talks nonsense then he'll be unashamedly sweet with Flora in front of his childhood friend and then all is forgiven. I felt sorry for Zang Yao when she got heartbroken but I'm glad she indirectly helped to clear the misunderstanding. That scene on the couch was so sweet and cute 🥹. Episode 12 also confirmed what I suspected about Luke's personality, he really is partly a product of his upbringing, it has made him great at what he does for work but in his relationship with Flora he can be too harsh, he's what you would call rough around the edges but I think he's redeemable. I'm curious to see how he heals and gets past his childhood wound. Luke's dad is a classic example of a parent who wasn't there emotionally but then wants to show the "love" once their child has grown up but by then the adult child has grown so tired and beyond disappointed that they just want to be left alone
After watching the recent episode, I think they are both in the wrong to some extent. I was frustrated with FL for not sharing that she's hurt over how ML handled the work blunder, and while I also understand why she wouldn't because she set the boundary, I still think communicating would've helped a bit. ML made it worse by not just saying something along the lines of "I realised you were upset by the whole work thing can we talk about it" or something. He sends flowers but still doesn't communicate with her when she sees another woman take the flowers. He then asks if she has a passport and when she says no he doesn't follow it up with can you please get one, I want to spend new years with you. On new year's he doesn't wish her a happy new year but proceeds to ask her to feed his fish and is surprised when he comes back and she's not still in his apartment. FL frustrated me because she could've asked about the lady friend who came to his office and "received" flowers, she didnt ask about the photo the same lady took with the ML, but her pride wouldn't let so she believed ML was playing her. They're both adults and decided to start a relationship that had all the signs of being messy. It doesn't help that ML looked down on FL from the beginning and she probably feels she doesn't measure up because they're from 2 different worlds. I do feel for both though, ML seems to have childhood trauma and one that comes from a parent at that, FL is still young and finding her way around things and at that age I wouldn't blame her for falling for a Luke and not knowing how to/having the bravery to ask for what she really wants
This was one of the best dramas I've watched this year, from the setting to the characters, the story telling and the ending - it was all amazing. The character development of the mains was so heartwarming and the their love story had me kicking my feet over their sweet moment and crying with them when they each felt pain. The ending was perfection!
