Given that novel story setting, it will make more sense because he has an entire country empire to withheld. But in the drama, ZXW is just a business lord. That is why we couldn’t phantom what is holding him back from making the right decision. We couldn’t felt his weight, that is why we think he is selfish. And in novel setting, only by keeping HQ by his side, forcing her to accuse her own father, is the only way from not getting the death penalty. Also very standard palace politic. But the drama they changed the setting to a family business empire. This changes the entire vibe and doesn’t make sense anymore! (During the first episode I already felt off about the story, they are just a business family, they don’t have the power to execute prisoners. And HQ’s dad crime is not that serious until he has to be beheaded. They also don’t have the power to exile HQ).

Legally Romance is similar to this but the dream arc in the drama was quite slow and boring. But once the FL woke up from coma, everything is sweet and fluffy. Unlike this drama, where whole story is about her dream. :( But tbh, at this point we dont know if it’s a dream or will she ever wake up.

This is more angsty than xianxia drama, I thought the most bittersweet I’d come across was TTEOTM, and I thought usually period family drama will be lighter but noooo, this show is depressing.
CP of any show would get together by 1/3 of the show. Now this is almost ending!! I am dying. Not just the sypnosis of this drama is misleading, even the poster is also misleading. There is no CP, stop hoping and shipping guys. T_T

I did say before, this drama did not show enough of how she was in her first life. IMO, she needs someone like ZXW that has the patriarchy figure, he could be strict and gentle. He will guide her back to the right path. And not someone like HRZ who wags his puppy tail every time he sees her. If this is not a dream, and really a second chance in her life, she can be happy being alone without anyone. But if this is a dream like the novel plot, when she wakes up, she will be so traumatize and definitely need someone there to give her strength and support.
